I have this video and it does a good job of giving clear, concise and effective techniques for improving the look of your interviews. If you have the right equipment and follow their advice, you will get the same look they achieve here. As other people pointed out...this is a TEASER only.
The information in this movie might actuallly be helpfull, if it didn't move to a next scene so quickly. Even when I tried to pauze it quickly, I still needed severel attempts to actually compare one part to the other.
A shame too, because I was looking for information on lighting techniques.
WTF... Thanks for nothing! Please take this video down so you don't waste more peoples time. Just slow down the clips, remove the crap music and do a little voice over then you will have a video about "Lighting Techniques for Video Production"
hmm. i would have thought by the title that this was about "lighting techniques for video production". maybe you should call it 'a music video showing a bunch of quick shots of interview setups' ( aka 'useless promo for some other product' )
I disagree; some of the examples are lit pretty well... but I am disappointed that this is essentially an ad/trailer without explaining anything useful. I'd be more inclined to buy if they posted an actual tutorial.
too bad ntsc isn't our only method of broadcast. we have hdtv, which is 1080i, and 1080p from some providers. ALSO even hugh laurie is on american tv, in house, and shows like breaking bad are much better than anything that the bbc has to offer.
and I suppose we dont have HDTV? My point being our crews and technical staff, multi camera directors, cameramen, camera supervisors. Are far superior to the american shows I have seen!
from what I understand, all you have seen is Jerry Springer. Your argument makes no fucking sense. It's based purely on nationalism and doesn't hold any water.
No, it does not make any sense. You can't compare the 2. There's no one look and feel to american tv, as there is no look and feel to uk tv. everything that you said just proved that you have no idea what you are talking about.
try near on 15 years working in professionally in UK television, You know what crossing the line is? its a TV Camera work term, you see it all the time on cheap American shows. And NTSC yellow - as we like to call it.
that's pretty cool but I can't see 2 things as dynamic as they are, to be compared like that. the only tv shows that i watch are primetime dramas that are shot on 35, and are pretty much mini movies. try breaking bad, It is the greatest piece of american television ever.
A very large introduction for what I expected it was going next... please change the title of your video for: "Random images of what I've done". Not for teaching pourpuses

this is why lots of american TV looks so bad, poorly lit, and poorly framed... Why isn't this a tutorial? He doesn't know what he;s doing himself!
