I remember seeing this film for the first time. Chris Evans is probably my most memorable character though. He does a great job really getting into character. Then it felt they took a bit off of Event Horizon for the 5th one... Spoiler Alert .. i would have rather they made one of the existing crew go insane then the other one.

This show, however, had way too much excessive violence and was just plainly gory. I've never seen such detailed deaths in a scifi show like this before. Would definitely not recommend unless you love horror movies which this definitely was. Show also defies physics more and more rapidly as it continues, but that isn't that big of a deal since it looks cool! =D

It depicts well how deaths would occur on a mission that is jeopardized and natural human reaction to some events, it is also interesting to see how a human dies when it is exposed to the outer space, not that I wish to see a real human die, but that´s what movies are for. This is a 100% sci-fi movie and not a horror movie. SAW, Hostal and Final Destination are excessive violence movies. Got the difference?
@CJEJTHEDJ The physics as they reach the sun are based on real predictions, I'm no expert but something about the sun's mass distorting the gravity around it. Also the death scenes are nowhere near as protracted as other films out there. I think they are more emotionally stirring than gory, especially (SPOILERS) Kanada and Mace's deaths. Damn, I agree with ginkgonk122... and with Dinantes. But all in all, they could have resolved it better, and the relativistic effects at the end (I think that what it was supposed to be) were also handled quite poorly.
Nevertheless, one of the best science-fiction (and not fantasy like Star Wars) movies.
Had it not been for Colnel Kurtz via Freddy Krueger in the end, this film would have been one of the best science fiction films ever. Up there with 2001 and The Fountain.
As it stands, its an incredibly strong first half that missfires in the final act. Yet is still a great film.
You missed the point. Without the 'final protagonist' Sunshine is simply a man vs circumstance film. The 'bad guy' in this movie is a fatalist religious zealot who happens to be in a position to wipe out humanity and does so because of flawed religious beliefs--a theme that hit pretty close to home when you imagine religious nutjobs like George W. as the leaders of major world powers.
Regardless. It's a humanity vs. religion film. If you missed that, well, watch it again.

to be more specific it is a remix of the Clint Mansel's soundtrack "Requiem for a dream". The track is named "Lux aeterna". The remix has been first done for the trailer of LORT - the two towers. It is not commercialised but with all those infos you should find it on the web.
Love this movie, it's based on something that could happen proboblies not in the near future, but mixed in with space loneliness and horror got to love them kind of movies the story line is deep and great!

While that is true and I completely agree with you about John Murphy's score for this movie....they really should have used "what do you see" or "the surface of the sun" for the trailer....instead of the completely overused Clint Mansell track IMHO. It's so sad that they waited soo long to release the score to this movie and then did so with such crappy results (the sound quality is bad if you haven't listened to it via iTunes yet)
Whoever made the trailers for this movie needs to be fired. In every one they show the crew members dieing, they show Pinbacker, and they show the ending...very lame.

I haven't seen the movie yet, but after reading the comments about the story and ending being given away from the trailer, I watched it one more time and listened real close and am now upset. It does give away the ending within the first 20 seconds.....
SouthernRiprey, Capa's not standing next to the sun he's inside the bomb and what you see is the mini big bang happening. It takes place in a billionth of a second but due to the velocity of falling into the sun time is distorted and is stretched enough for him to witness the explosion which would create the new star within our dying one.
They gave away too much in the trailer. I saw the movie without seeing any trailers and clips and i had no idea what was going to happen. If I would of saw this trailer beforehand i think my experience would be severely lessened

my favorite movie of all time :) I hate this trailer though, since it gives away the "fifth crew member". ruins the movie in my opinion, since pinbacker showing up is kind of a major plot twist :/

WoW! people are still asking what song this is. Every1 and there mother has used this song. So played out! I can't believe it was even used in the LOTR Two Towers trailer.

Well, lets see. Weee will just use Clint Mansell's old score ...over and over and over, everyone will love it! They won't blame us for not being able to compose anything on our own! We will make a mediocre science fiction film...but we will cast ROSE BYRNE so nobody will notice how dead and lifeless the material is! Yes! We've found a way to bypass the need for originality or intelligent screenplays!

Actually, your comment oozes ignorance, gescom666. Yes, the song in this trailer is from Clint Mansell, but the movie has a completely original soundtrack by John Murphy (28 Days Later). It may be one of his best works ever. It's amazing.

While that is true and I completely agree with you about John Murphy's score for this movie....they really should have used "what do you see" or "the surface of the sun" for the trailer....instead of the completely overused Clint Mansell track IMHO. It's so sad that they waited soo long to release the score to this movie and then did so with such crappy results (the sound quality is bad if you haven't listened to it via iTunes yet)

Whoever made the trailers for this movie needs to be fired. In every one they show the crew members dieing, they show Pinbacker, and they show the ending...very lame.

I haven't seen the movie yet, but after reading the comments about the story and ending being given away from the trailer, I watched it one more time and listened real close and am now upset. It does give away the ending within the first 20 seconds.....

SouthernRiprey, Capa's not standing next to the sun he's inside the bomb and what you see is the mini big bang happening. It takes place in a billionth of a second but due to the velocity of falling into the sun time is distorted and is stretched enough for him to witness the explosion which would create the new star within our dying one.

They gave away too much in the trailer. I saw the movie without seeing any trailers and clips and i had no idea what was going to happen. If I would of saw this trailer beforehand i think my experience would be severely lessened

Lux Aeterna by Clint Mansell, from the Requiem for a Dream soundtrack. A reorchestrated version called Requiem for a Tower has been used a lot in various adverts.
