  • Well I think you did good.

  • Beautifully played!!!

  • Very sweet version! Simple and pleasant.

  • I can play this song and i play original this sounds nothing like the music i was given :-/

  • @weekeek1 Sounds like I owe someone an apology. You found out my secret: I don't know what I'm doing.

  • I like your music.

  • NIce, love the passing chords. Don't sell yourself short, this is a great arrangement.

  • very good oldwhtman, u can't disappoint us! indeed, i admire you very much! 5*

  • make a tab please

id like to learn because even though that it may not sound like the original(Ive never heared so i dont know) its stil looks nice and relaxing to play

  • I hope to have the tab posted by this weekend.

  • Tab is ready.

  • Nice one Mike.

Remind me. I know it was in a western film. It evokes distant memories of sat around the black and white tv on a Sunday pm...waiting for my dad to come home from the pub...so we could eat our tea!!

    Lovely arrangement.

    Keep off the beans.

    Paul.

  • I have to admit I was disappointed to discover that this tune was not the creation of a talented young American cowboy. Some British soldier apparently wrote it after he had finished shooting some Canadian rebels. Damn, you guys are good.

  • It's great! Will you post the tabs? Pretty please ^^ If you do, I'll post a video response once I learn it, I promise :P

  • Thanks for showing an interest in the tab. I hope to have it posted by this weekend ... if not this evening. It depends on what's on TV tonight.

  • Tab is ready.

  • yeahh thanks oldwhtman

this is one ill be practicing :)

  • Hey oldwhtman, I'm still checking in on you and still enjoying your playing. This one is real pretty. Keep 'em coming.

Thanks for all your great music.

  • Not too bad for an "old white man" jk :) 5*

  • You know, every time I want to give up my guitar playing I come watch your videos and it helps me not drop my guitar! Thanks!!!

  • I would have to agree with morgot9230 but this one is great and your had some awesome ones between.

  • Very good arrangement, well done 5*****

  • best one i heard

  • Best worse arrangement I've heard.....today...:-)

Thanks dude, this was so relaxing.

  • I'm glad I could help you ... nap.

  • very nice arrangement of a wonderful folksong! 5*****

  • Hey mike! How are you? Hope you´re doing fine.

I used to play that song in flute when I was a child =)

  • what kind of mic do you have?

the one on my computer sucks and i'm trying to record my playing of your sadness and sorrow piece :(

  • I used an AKG1000S ($199) connected to a Presonus "Bluetube" preamp connected to an M- Audio 1010LT sound card in my PC. All three pieces together cost over $600.00. And it's all a waste of money because Youtube will make it sound like a $5.00 PC mic. If you can afford it, I'd recommend the Zoom H2. It's not the best quality perhaps, but it's easy to use. Just plug it into a USB port and the computer sees it as another sound card. It has a built in mic. About $175.00.

  • @oldwhtman is that the cheapest solution? :(

it costs 215 here in canada

  • I think you have the "cheapest" solution. But if you have digital camera that can record video as well as still pictures you could try that. My first videos were recorded on a Canon SD400. The sound was not horrible. But if you want 'decent' sound quality, it'll likely cost you more than $50.

  • I could suffer to your playing all day long and never tire of it. Beautiful harmonies for this simple but lovely melody.

    - Ben

  • Thanks. I was inspired to do an arrangement of this after hearing Chris Isaak (sp?) sing a verse while accompanying Stevie Nicks in a Youtube video. Her performance was fine, but his one verse was spectacular. I think he could have a top 40 hit with this song. He could make it popular again.

  • The best I have ever heard

  • I think it's the only one ... I looked.

  • Of all of your videos Ashokan Farewell is my favorite. You do a great rendition of that piece that is mainly meant for the violin.

  • Of all the music I've found on the internet since joining Youtube, "Ashokan" is one of my favorites as well. But my personal favorite is "L'Hymne a L'Amour" as played by Oh Seung Kook. My arrangement is based on his video. His arrangement has a lean, tasteful elegance that is lacking in other guitarists' playing.

  • Why do you hate your playing so much. Your one of the best I've seen on utube.

  • I'm just disappointed. I make too many mistakes. I think I have A.D.D.

  • props very clean

  • Man..you upload new videos faster than I can tune my guitar!!!

...and your comments are always...oh well. Gotta love ya!

    ;-D

    Pascal

  • This video was only about 13 meg. It uploads fast when you lower the quality.

  • Very nicely done! Music doesn't have to be complicated to be good :)

  • I agree about the complicated part. There's a lot of good music that is not difficult to play.

  • Yeeeeiiii...ha!

:-) Nice arrangement Mike! Specially from around 1:10.

I feel like getting back on the saddle again.

    Per

  • I agree. Someone of your caliber needs to be in the saddle, transforming beautiful songs into guitar instumentals. By the way, I noticed that the sound track on this video sounds better in 480p mode. This audio track is in mono. The previous video was stereo and sounds equally bad in 360p and 480p. What do these Youtube people want?

  • Nothing wrong with that arrangement. Very nice!!
