  • at least he plays good

  • @prettycare1 true

  • thats not nice

  • hahaha he cant hold his bow right!!

  • @troubledudes the instrument neither :p

  • and about the grace notes called "rolls" always try to play with harder the last note of the group. this way could faithfully execute the techniques of Irish fiddle alone, without a teacher!

  • hi all! here's the trick, something that took me to figure it out myself and now I share, I have learned classic technique of the violin for years but always liked Celtic and Irish, and now studying Irish myself I found that the way you should hold the bow in Irish fiddle is different, note that you must hold the bow over to the middle and not so in the end (frog), so applying more weight on the bow generating a sound more "ripped"

  • I used to play this song when I was taking violin lessons. It was one of my favorites. Just tuned the old fiddle up for the first time in many many years....and OMG. I am going to learn this one again. I love it. :-)

  • only ireland would have so many violin players, becouse of the countryside, in urban area's youre neighbours would kill you the first couple of weeks

  • its kind of dissapointing that your not actually irish !

  • oh good jaysus give me strength this is the biggest load of shite i have yet to come across yet. ive been playing for years and cant believe this. is this the best???? god help those trying to learn with this.

  • @SuperNoag Well yanno there buddy-boy 1: no one said this is the best, and 2: this is what we have to work with. If you want different training, go find a fiddle player yourself (which would actually require you going OUT of the house). Personally, I *like* this one.

  • @SuperNoag what's the matter with it?

  • My favorite Irish tune, my Irish grandfather used to whistle it constantly.

I miss him more every time iI hear this tune.

  • Can you do a longer video lesson on differences of jigs? You're the greatest and youtube brings your fiddle to the world!

  • @jyothisjames9 thaat is how thw "fiddle technice is..... is not the classical technique... =)

  • I like the video but where is the rest of it?

  • @sassylassy01 on their website

  • hahaha i loveeeeeeeeeeeee itt. gotta leran it, gotta learn it, gotta learn it. 10/10

  • why is every fiddling tutorial have a tutor with a strang bow hand. is that some technique. please someone tell me. his pointer finger ifs flying everywhere

  • it's because it fiddling, not classical violin. fiddlers simply hold their bow and instrument whichever way works for them

  • Your lessons are realy good mate and well explaned. i just got me fiddle and snaped a bloody string tuning it. I shoulda been more patent and used the fine tuners keep it up, you got good tunes to.

  • I'm having great difficulty understanding this. You say the first note is the B on the A string. Well to get that high of a B on the A, I'm having to play way up on the neck over the body, and I notice that you aren't even playing up over the body. So how are you doing that? Did you mean to say the B on the D string? That would make more sense where I'm coming from.

  • The A string is the 2nd highest - so the 2nd nearest your left hand when playing. Just hold the violin normally and put down your first finger. That's the B. It is just the next (whole) note up from the open string. No need for any acrobatics. Perhaps you'e got the strings muddled up? Good luck.

  • I figured out that I had the violin tuned backwards. Go figure. It is fixed now and the lesson makes A LOT more sense. Good lesson too. I'm finally getting the hang of this song. Thanks a lot.

  • first finger near the nut, not you - the fiddle.

  • i played this in orchestra!

  • haha stop it at 1:33 what does it look like

  • @taylorzack78 Blowing bubbles?

  • Nice playing but found out which is the A string but where is the G note on the A string. Sorry I am a newby.

  • Comment removed

  • Hope you have already found out. The G in the section he shows here is actually on the D string (the one below the A, the third lowest). Use your ring finger to press the string (3rd finger, thumbs don't count). It is the 3rd note up - D (open string), E (index), F, (middle), G 3rd or ring finger. There is also a high G on the highest string, E, using your middle finger, which you need for the 2nd part.

  • Im already entranced and it was barely 16 seconds into it :D

now... if i can teach my rtard self to play it...

  • lol i know :) this is the first thing i'm teaching myself to play on the violin - i usually play cello ;P

  • Piquage !!merci il y a longtemps que je cherche cela merci !

  • thanx for putting this up! I had lots of fun playing this! =)

  • very good.
