In 1755 there were only around 1500 of the 3200 Acadians that were kicked out of Nova Scotia that ever made it to Louisiana. Louisian was already a colony of France and had over 20,000 people in La at the time. Did 1500 Acadians take over the entire bloodline of the French and Creoles that were already in Louisiana? No they did not. Through ignorance, we are taught that everone of us are Cajuns. I was told I was Cajun, Come to find out I am pure French from France not Nova Scotia. We are plenty.

i am from st martin parish (breaux Bridge)

most of the acadiens came here. the three towns of breaux bridge, parks, and saint martinville were the first towns established by the acadiens..your right..it is only a small area and number..my ancestors are the Breauxs..notice the X on the end of the name..that stood for the acadiens that didnt know how to write and they would sign there names with Xs

@jacksblack1 As I said, my ancestors were French... however I used to work in a restaurant where les acadiens visited me. After a while, you kind of pick up on how they speak and you can be understood by them.. Maybe it was a blessing ... or a curse for me to be able to do that. I never been to Louisianne.. I hear it's beautiful there especially a la region acadienne.. :) Hopefully before I die, I will get to visit cajun country and enjoy the culture and the hospitality...
