Agreed. If you ask me, the 350 looks like a girl car too. I'd love to see them go back to something similar to the 300. Raise the price back up to where it was and make the Z a little more nasty. They could market it against the Corvette like they used to.
In Canada the 300TT was only available as a two seater, can't imagine why anyone would order a 2+2. I drove the first one in Ontario in late 1989 and it was awesome. I don't care for the stock rims or spoiler but the rest of the car was perfect. I had a 1980 10th Anniversary 280ZX Turbo but the 90 is still my favourite.
I mean, there IS a reason why the lamborghini diablo uses 300zx headlights than 350z headlights... but dont talk shit about a 350z they're nice cars too. Nissan power.
I've had a 350z and I loved it. nissans 3.5 is one of the best 6cylinder engines made I beat on my and put 70000 miles on it with no problems. I also love the 300zxs and have wanted one for a long time. my dad has an 85 300 and its amazing the technology in it for being a 26 year old car. their both great cars
They should do a Twin turbo 350z vs twin turbo 300zx..... That would be a fair fight, otherwise everyone knows the 300zx is just going to overpower the 350z
@ImMikoFreako Even with the 20 less HP of the Z it was faster not by much .1-.2 of a sec but faster , the supra had the down fall of the single turbo boost at low rpms then at higher rpms the 2nd would kick in , were as the Z was both turbos at once.
BTW in no way am I a NIsmo fan never have never will be, TRD all the way i would also buy a 1993-97 supra over a 300 any day, i myself have imported a JDM GT4 RC because of my love of true blood Toyota's.

This isn't a competition about turbos, it's about which car, from the factory at about the same price, has the best bang for the buck. 300ZX turbo came from the factory in 1990 with 50HP/L, impressive even by today's standards, and in the historical lineup of Z cars especially. Yeah you can put turbos on a 350. You can also swap out the ECU on a Z32TT for ~360HP. It was a world class sports car in its day that still impresses today.
i bought a 1989 300zx n/a 2+2 with 80,000miles. I have raced a; 1997 Mitsubishi GTO MR TT, 2005 mustang GT, 2007 Subaru WRX STI, 2007 300z, 2009 corvette Z06. All but the STI where done on an 8th mile track in San Diego. All but the corvette felt what its like to get bet buy a 22 YEAR OLD car. Every time i drive it, i am BLOWN away with how well built it is. i was a Mopar man with a 540 hemi jeep..until i drove this nissan..lol, never thought i would say that. i love every aspect of my 300zx

@The1derBoi True, but let's not forget these two were built in two different eras. The ZX was built when racing and sports cars were at it's peak. However the 350z was built when practicality, safety, and technology was priority. It was built for drivers who are new the sports cars, more forgiving than the 300zx. Not to say the 350z is no good, but compared to what the 300zx accomplished and capabilities during it's days and what it offered. Group C, JCGT, 24 of Daytona, 24 of Lemans, IMSA GT.
Agreed. The 300ZX was basically a Japanese Corvette in both price and performance. It was an absolute beast but they had trouble selling them. Now it is more in line with a WRX STI. Not as much performance but they don't have the price either. Personally, I'd rather they went back to what they were doing with the 300 but I doubt that will happen because of the GT-R.
Every Z before the 350 had a turbo option the only mistake Nissan made was not giving that option to the 350. if they had done so it would have been a different story. 350's have great potential and it does carry the Z badge so it earns my respect as a Z enthusiast and with the the 350's platform they wouldn't have been able to build the 370Z which to me is the greatest Z / sports car built because its actually affordable and with bolts on it can beat a R35 and yes this has been track proven.
@j1mbOZ31 That turbo option on a 350z from the factory and would have been a big mistake for Nissan. Too costly and the engine is not designed for handling forced induction. With the "if they had done" aside. Yes the 350z has potential just like the 300zx. However 300zx is capable of handling forced induction better and likely cheaper than a TT Z33. Both cars were built for two different goals in mind. To each his own. The 300zx gets my respect due to it's racing legacy it made for future Zcars

Shame on Nissan for replacing the 300ZX by that ugly beetle copy. I have driving experience on both, the 300ZX and the 350Z. I would take the 300ZX even over my Audi S4 (4.2l V8 344hp) ! And the 350Z? My mom's Mercedes C-Class is better than this crappy car... and i hate Mercedes. Sadly, the Z32 300ZX is very rare in germany. There are less than 100 left in the whole country :-(

and the motor itself is pretty reliable i never had any eng. problems with mine, you just have to keep up with maintenance. its a true SPORTS CAR for god sakes, thats why it doesn't have silly little cup holders.
i don't care what anyone says 300zx TT is by far a better car than the 350z....the design was better the interior was better everything was better. i hate the plastic feel and ugly interior of the 350z.

I have the window sticker from my 1990 Z. It cost as much as a freakin Corvette of the same year and it isn't even the twin turbo version. Hell, I could buy a 370 with the sticker price of my 300 and that's before 21 years of inflation, haha. I don't really like the 350's but give them a break. They don't have such a steep price tag any more so it shouldn't be surprising that they haven't really gotten any faster.
So say you did install a twin turbo kit on a 350z. A greddy twin turbo kit costs around $7700. Now lets take that money and dump it in a 300zx. For around $3200 you can upgrade the 300zx's twin turbo kit from garrett to net around 700 WHP. Concerned about internals or oil feed? Well, you have a little over $4k for that.
@Supra776 You have to realise though, look at the difference in speed, then considering that the 350 has no turbo. That is a 3.5 6 cylinder vsing a 3 litre 6 cylinder twin turbo. I'd slap one turbo on that 350 and fuck that 300 up its ass. So i guess that would make the 350 gay no?

@Supra776 i will totally agree with you on part of that statement becuase i agree the 350"s look like dog crap. 300"s that have good motors are the ones from 84 through 89 the 300"s from 90 up as the one shown in this video are bad ass cars but the motors are prone to fail 85 with over 400k miles on it and it never smoked burned oil or anything and you could still baby it and get 30+ mpg but my cuz had a 91 had the motor rebuilt 4 times by 4 diff guys and they threw rods and he never hot rodded

@sublime95 Um, first of all, the 300ZX was not inline 6, it was a V6, so Nissan can't give it to us "again", as it never existed in the first place. And second, a factory twin turbo 350Z would be way more expensive than the N/A version was, and a lot less reliable, which is exactly what killed the original 300ZX. People couldn't afford them.
So perhaps you could use your brain next time before calling an old 350Z a "pussy", when it lost by one car length for half price and handles way better.

@selectedtemptations ya thats true but anyone can get more power out of a turbo engine, its just a matter of how far can you stretch your wallet. I personally own R34 2.5 non turbo which in a way has its own charm and much harder to get more power out of. Id have the 350z over 300zx, just a personal preference. Ya its slower but its better built which comes with age.

oh back again! i killed my friends 350z. i was running 18PSI when i raced him! i got him by a lot of car lengths! he has an 03 with intake headers and sht like that. i have every bolt on that u can think of! but stock motor! and last week i took on a 370Z and i was only running 9PSI. (i got a boost controller with 3 different settings! 9psi, 14psi and 18psi) i was at 9 and still took him! ... not many cars can beat u with a 18PSI Z. and a few mods can make it happen! cant imagine 20+PSI! SWTSHHH
oh yeah! and for those guys wondering why they dont make 350Z n 370Z with twin turbos like they did with the 300... well you have to assume that nissan is bringing lots of GTR35s to the american market! and a 350TT or 370TT could possibly match a GTR in performance! and would cost 40K less! a VQTT engine could easily make well over 450HP. the only way nissan would sell those GTRs is if they made them with 800HP! so just think about it! my reasoning kinda sounds right to me!??

@The1derBoi True, but let's not forget these two were built in two different eras. The ZX was built when racing and sports cars were at it's peak. However the 350z was built when practicality, safety, and technology was priority. It was built for drivers who are new the sports cars, more forgiving than the 300zx. Not to say the 350z is no good, but compared to what the 300zx accomplished and capabilities during it's days and what it offered. Group C, JCGT, 24 of Daytona, 24 of Lemans, IMSA GT.

Agreed. The 300ZX was basically a Japanese Corvette in both price and performance. It was an absolute beast but they had trouble selling them. Now it is more in line with a WRX STI. Not as much performance but they don't have the price either. Personally, I'd rather they went back to what they were doing with the 300 but I doubt that will happen because of the GT-R.

Every Z before the 350 had a turbo option the only mistake Nissan made was not giving that option to the 350. if they had done so it would have been a different story. 350's have great potential and it does carry the Z badge so it earns my respect as a Z enthusiast and with the the 350's platform they wouldn't have been able to build the 370Z which to me is the greatest Z / sports car built because its actually affordable and with bolts on it can beat a R35 and yes this has been track proven.

@j1mbOZ31 That turbo option on a 350z from the factory and would have been a big mistake for Nissan. Too costly and the engine is not designed for handling forced induction. With the "if they had done" aside. Yes the 350z has potential just like the 300zx. However 300zx is capable of handling forced induction better and likely cheaper than a TT Z33. Both cars were built for two different goals in mind. To each his own. The 300zx gets my respect due to it's racing legacy it made for future Zcars

Shame on Nissan for replacing the 300ZX by that ugly beetle copy. I have driving experience on both, the 300ZX and the 350Z. I would take the 300ZX even over my Audi S4 (4.2l V8 344hp) ! And the 350Z? My mom's Mercedes C-Class is better than this crappy car... and i hate Mercedes. Sadly, the Z32 300ZX is very rare in germany. There are less than 100 left in the whole country :-(

and the motor itself is pretty reliable i never had any eng. problems with mine, you just have to keep up with maintenance. its a true SPORTS CAR for god sakes, thats why it doesn't have silly little cup holders.

@ambientflier you don't get the point, the 350Z should be much faster, it's more then 10 years newer then the 300ZX but the 07 350Z would probably barely beat it in a straight line... but with just some basic bolt ons the 300ZX will be much faster and far more reliable then the gay 350Z because it has a much better engine + it still looks better and turns more heads... yup the 350Z is still gay

I have the window sticker from my 1990 Z. It cost as much as a freakin Corvette of the same year and it isn't even the twin turbo version. Hell, I could buy a 370 with the sticker price of my 300 and that's before 21 years of inflation, haha. I don't really like the 350's but give them a break. They don't have such a steep price tag any more so it shouldn't be surprising that they haven't really gotten any faster.

So say you did install a twin turbo kit on a 350z. A greddy twin turbo kit costs around $7700. Now lets take that money and dump it in a 300zx. For around $3200 you can upgrade the 300zx's twin turbo kit from garrett to net around 700 WHP. Concerned about internals or oil feed? Well, you have a little over $4k for that.

@ImMikoFreako Even with the 20 less HP of the Z it was faster not by much .1-.2 of a sec but faster , the supra had the down fall of the single turbo boost at low rpms then at higher rpms the 2nd would kick in , were as the Z was both turbos at once.
BTW in no way am I a NIsmo fan never have never will be, TRD all the way i would also buy a 1993-97 supra over a 300 any day, i myself have imported a JDM GT4 RC because of my love of true blood Toyota's.

@Supra776 i will totally agree with you on part of that statement becuase i agree the 350"s look like dog crap. 300"s that have good motors are the ones from 84 through 89 the 300"s from 90 up as the one shown in this video are bad ass cars but the motors are prone to fail 85 with over 400k miles on it and it never smoked burned oil or anything and you could still baby it and get 30+ mpg but my cuz had a 91 had the motor rebuilt 4 times by 4 diff guys and they threw rods and he never hot rodded

@sublime95 Um, first of all, the 300ZX was not inline 6, it was a V6, so Nissan can't give it to us "again", as it never existed in the first place. And second, a factory twin turbo 350Z would be way more expensive than the N/A version was, and a lot less reliable, which is exactly what killed the original 300ZX. People couldn't afford them.
So perhaps you could use your brain next time before calling an old 350Z a "pussy", when it lost by one car length for half price and handles way better.

I've had 2 300zx's and 1 350. For racing I liked the 1990's Turbo's, however, my favorite one was a 1984 Turbo. Never really liked the 350.

the 90 - 96 300zxtt was a de-tuned 500hp
capable motor on stock internals
the 350z is a pretty well tweaked 300hp N/A
sorry 350z but the 300zxtt was way ahead of its time

You just proved yourself wrong.....it is fair...the older TURBO 300zx smoked the "modern" NO TURBO 350z. Do you get it? Nobody nowadays cares about real performance that why turbo isn't even an option for the 350z. That's the proof: 300zx = turbo = better; 350z = n/a = lesser.
I'd take either one though.

@selectedtemptations ya thats true but anyone can get more power out of a turbo engine, its just a matter of how far can you stretch your wallet. I personally own R34 2.5 non turbo which in a way has its own charm and much harder to get more power out of. Id have the 350z over 300zx, just a personal preference. Ya its slower but its better built which comes with age.

oh back again! i killed my friends 350z. i was running 18PSI when i raced him! i got him by a lot of car lengths! he has an 03 with intake headers and sht like that. i have every bolt on that u can think of! but stock motor! and last week i took on a 370Z and i was only running 9PSI. (i got a boost controller with 3 different settings! 9psi, 14psi and 18psi) i was at 9 and still took him! ... not many cars can beat u with a 18PSI Z. and a few mods can make it happen! cant imagine 20+PSI! SWTSHHH

oh yeah! and for those guys wondering why they dont make 350Z n 370Z with twin turbos like they did with the 300... well you have to assume that nissan is bringing lots of GTR35s to the american market! and a 350TT or 370TT could possibly match a GTR in performance! and would cost 40K less! a VQTT engine could easily make well over 450HP. the only way nissan would sell those GTRs is if they made them with 800HP! so just think about it! my reasoning kinda sounds right to me!??
