What kind of age to American teenagers start underage drinking? In England usually kids around 13 start getting drunk at parties and then keep binge drinking.
@prophetchannel I love how you people call him an Independant thinker.
In what sense was he an independant thinker? he follows a few men his entire career and spreads their bogus nonsense to prove there is no God. Whats independant about the way he thinks? So many do that.
@cyberprunes List for me that which PROVES God doesnt exist? I also want you to tell me straightly that you dont at least have the faintest question of if he does or does not Exist?Hitchens LOGIC about what You GOT to believe to believe in the God of Christains is Utterly an absolutely false!! You dont GOT TO believe that God CARES if man mutlilates his penis! Hitchens mixes all religions together and charges them all with the same things wrongly. You just cant see it because...
@abeeftec "That which can be asserted without evidence, can be dismissed without evidence". We don't need to prove that God dosent exist, you need to disprove the towering mountain of evidence that makes it very likely he dosent.
@abeeftec I can't list anything to PROVE God doesn't exist. Nobody can. Just like I can't prove an invisible dragon doesn't live in my garage. By your reasoning you are suggesting that things that cannot be proven to be false should be believed to be true.
The burden lies with the believer not the doubter.
Yes, I have the question..I just don't accept the answers.
@prophetchannel I don't think he necessarily represents independent thinkers cause everything religous for his followers is evil. Martin Luther King,Jr was a christian minister...for example. Stalinist russia was atheist...In my relatively independent mind I think that believers are as bigotted as non-believer Atheists.
@gnossticc Everything religious was not evil for Hitchens, you should see what he said about "The last theist on earth". He said "I would not attempt to convert him". Everything religious is not evil, but too much of it is. Issac Asimov and Martin Luther King Jr. were not evil, Mother Teresa and Joseph Ratzinger are.
@gnossticc As a whole though, it is. It is evil and immoral to threaten children with a pit of eternal torture if they refuse to accept your beliefs. It is evil to indoctrinate the helpless and the poor. It is immoral to, under the guise of philanthropy, go to third world countries and tell them that "condoms are of the devil".
@TheBoredProle Are you talking about nutty amish, or about fundamentalist idiots? That doesn't prove your unbelief! do you remember, again that christ rebuked the very religious of his age, the pharisees? Who are these morons to condemn others? I hope you realise my stance...There are also crooks, like benny Hinn, but that doesn't prove. anything.
I remember Stalin condemned to the gulag many religious people also...
@gnossticc I'm talking about people I (unfortunately) encounter in everyday life. I realize your stance, and I'm just asking you to understand mine. Know that people who find there to be a lot more bad than good in Christianity (or any other religion for that matter) usually have a very good reason for it.
Thank you Christopher Hitches for all you have stood for and taken a stand against. Your efforts to advance science, awareness and rational deliberation have been nothing short of inspirational.
Your dedication to curb extremism has been steadfast and sincere. I cannot articulate how much you will be missed...
The problem with smoking or drinking when you're young is that it becomes part of your growth and thereby more thoroughly entrenched in your behavior. I never drank until I was 21 and never smoked until I was more than thirty. Today I enjoy a social drink or a rare cigar but addiction to either substance isn't even remotely plausible.
@MrMZaccone I agree, although here in Britain drinking is very much in our culture it is considered tradition to get utterly shitfaced every weekend, i started drinking and smoking like most people at 15 and yes when you are used too drinking from a young age, it does seem harder too shake off in later life im only 21 now but think its alright to drink and smoke, all in moderation as my mum says all in moderation.
@LongLiveTheBlues It's the same here in some parts of the country, especially smaller, almost rural towns. There isn't much else to do but work, drink, shag (I think that's what you guys call it), sleep, repeat as necessary. People where I live drink and smoke like the town was named moderation. Unfortunately, it kills them quick and their ambitions and prospects quicker. I suppose it all depends on what you (and your genetics) call moderation. Obviously, "Hitch" over-estimated it.
Haha, the USA's attitude to drinking is hilarious.
By 18 you can marry a girl, have a child, sit on a jury and judge a peer, get drafted and die for your country but don't you dare touch that wicked Devil's alcohol, boy!
Yes, absolutely. Nobody has any business regulating what I can and can't put into my body. They can advise me, they can attempt to educate me, they can strongly caution me, but, in the end, if I decide I want to ingest cyanide, that's my decision. With the exception of a few rare situations, standing in my way would be wrong, and evil.
For your argument to be valid you should also concede that in the case of you becoming a wreck as a result of what you have put into your body, and with the probability of this outcome being known to you beforehand, not a penny of taxpayer's money should be spent on your rehabilitaion or on easing your sufferings. Be it agonizing pain from cancer or Alzheimer's due to alcohol abuse, if you insisted on taking the risks you should take the consequences by yourself as well.
It's a fairly flawed logic isn't it? But about drinking in particular, although there may be responsible drinkers, there are also many, many irresponsible drinkers, coupled with the fact that the human brain isn't completely developed until about 25, makes it extra risky for younger people to drink.
This also applies to marriage, child rearing, and being a juror. The fact that these activities are legal at 18 doesn't necessarily mean it'd be okay for drinking to be 17-18+.
Please visit my channel for the unpopular truth about homosexuality.
A person does not need hatred or any kind of phobia in order to acknowledge important differences between heterosexual attraction / behavior / marriage / adoption and homosexual attraction / behavior / marriage / adoption. Even non-religious people know this.

@mcnesta80 thats just the definition the us surgeon general came up with to try to get people to stop drinking, not according to the FDA its if you have a drink once a week you are a binge drinker its just an anti booze political thing to appease groups like MADD etc
Hitchens, ' God is not great' is one of my favourite books. For similar great thoughts try Dan Barker, John W. Loftus, Robert M Price, Valerie Tarico, Victor Stenger, Bart Ehrman, Ken Humphreys, Richard Carrier, Ken Pulliam, Keith Parsons, Gary Greenberg, Robert Ingersoll, Thomas Paine, Mark Twain, Earl Doherty, Israel Finkelstein, Daniel Dennett, C Dennis Mckinsey
Ben Stein is a major conservative figure. Ben Stein was among many who under GWB's rule said "the debt is imaginary" and "questioning the President amounts to treason". Now that we have a Democrat in the White House, feel free to see how he just so happens to have changed his views on those issues along party lines.
As a 17 year old social drinker, and one rather large man of Irish decent, 4 drinks is not binge drinking. I am just getting started at 8, 12 fl.oz. beers and a couple of shots of whiskey!
@432ps1 no one who had the intelligence of a newt could call Hitchens a coward, he lost many many friends over Iraq. Dosent matter if you think he was wrong. It is bravery to take a position you believe to be right and important, and to hold to it and defend it no matter what the cost.
Lets talk about his physical bravery, lets see you volunteer to be water boarded, lets see you got to Sarajevo and be shot at. Lets see you go to Beirut in the 70s. What a stupid cunt you are.
@432ps1 thank you for conceding defeat on your previous bullshit and uninformed statement. If this blanket attack on Hitchens is you response to having your previous position annihilated, then I think I was generous in saying you could even aspire to having the intelligence of a newt. The fact that Hitchens is dead has nothing to do with anything, you made an utterly ridiculous statement. Thats what annoying, you have not reduced me to tears in my Hitchens shrine.
He said binge drinkings definition is 4 drinks and Stein said it seems like a lot.
Lmao , obviously Stein has NEVER partied. Most ppl I know have 4 drinks before they even get to a party girls especially lol. Without alcohol most lads are shit scared to even talk to girls so thank f*** for WKD
4 drinks? Without wishing to promote stereotypes, that is a pretty much daily occurrence for anyone here in Ireland. 4 drinks? Really? Fuck that. Happy to be a binge drinker
He is English he doesnt even consider himself American, he is in America because its so far behind Europe in terms of religion and shit, he is trying to change America because its badly needs it.
@mwillis1000 Bullshit, ... he always speaks highly of USA , and loathes britain for being a monarchy where you have to pay taxes to the royals. America has a remarkable and unparalleled constitution.
@mwillis1000 America is the closest thing you'll get to perfection. Don't base your generalization of the fine people of USA on glenn beck's crowd. We've got the most diverse mix of immigrants from all parts of the globe. This is the land of opportunities. Like Obama said only in America can his story be possible... Go to europe and you've got skinhead gangs, drunk soccer hooligans and massive sovereign debt.
LOL, you are joking right??? Its Glenn Becks crowd which are a majorety. And the "American dream" is utter BS, poor people cant do shit, yet the "American dream" means that they can do anything that means become president. And racism is a much larger problem in America than Britain, you have the KKK ffs, and America has more racial attacks than Britain, also sports hooligans are in America, and America are in real shit economicall too.
@DoktorZaius86 Well, you should be. This is a great country. We've not always adhered to the hallowed ideals set forth by the Founding Fathers (god knows even they did not always), but we have always striven with unbending determination to achieve a greater tomorrow. From the night of Paul Revere's ride to the march on washington to the present day, this nation has been a beacon of light to tired wandering souls from across the world.
@MetrazolElectricity you got the same in the US :) there are assholes and stuff like this in every corner of the world... so if you dont know what im talking bout, Arian brotherhood, kkk, drunk hockey/football fans, and your country is about to get broke by the end of this summer, or why do you think obama is removing the troops from afghanistan so quickly now? and he got on your oil reserves and lowered the price? to avoid the fact that your country been printing money instead of taking measure
@sZeRo0Xx Are you telling me that european countries could elect a colored minority into the highest office of the government? Bullshit, my friend. Neo-nazi gang are much more widespread in europe. We've got ACLU, Southern Poverty Law Center , Anti-Defamation league and other bodies that monitor and prosecute such troublemakers. And the debt-ceiling will be raised. We still are the global power in every respect. US bonds are still a safe bet. Oil reserves tapping was just a political move.
@MetrazolElectricity you had no choice, it was obama or a kind of bush2, and usa has lot more afro american ppl than europe, there is the same stuff like aclu, poverty law center etc with diferent names, you are the goobal power no doubt, but even obama knows the country is getting broke, thats why the troops in afghanistan bieng removed even when the goal isnt achieved, talibans are still strong. and you can read up why usa decided to get on the oil reserves and made them cheaper, fo selfprofit
@sZeRo0Xx the reason to diminish military presence isn't simply economics, infact, it is only tangentially so. Britain and Germany also tapped their reserves, remember that.
Christopher hitchens and ben stein in the same video. Ouch. It's like someone is trying to show the maximum and minimum of intelligence at the same time. Ben stein is kent hovind stupid.
@mistereveready There's a debate in which Ben Stein is the moderator... and Hitchens is debating with a Christian/ intelligent design Goon... and Ben Stein is such an ass, he starts to join in on the debate against HItchens when he's meant to be an impartial moderator. I hated finding out how much of a douche Ben Stein was, because it kinda ruins Ferris Bueller a little bit now.
@simonjeste do you know the name of the documentary? Ben Stein seems to be one of those people that has convinced himself that he is a scientist and a balanced rational person while holding on to displaying a deep religious conviction. It's kind of weird, almost a sort of disorder. I can't imagine how those two ideals can co exist in any real balance in one person. I do find his voice hilarious, and he's great when he's just acting THAT character, so he should stick to that.
@SethHesio "Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed" (2008) check IMDB and see the rating/comments to understand why I put "documentary" in "quotes"
@simonjeste That "documentary" is one of the two films that I simply could not finish. I could not find another bit of resilience within me to tolerate the bullshit it had excreted by the halfway point.
"Ben Stein, that fucking theist, let's see him try to debate CH."
LOL!
Hey cockbreath, he wiped the floor with Richard Dawkins. You want that to happen to your soon-to-be-dead, drunken bum-buddy Hitchens? Yeah, Hitchy! You tell 'em! Get those teens drunk and addicted to nicotine so they have a REASON for being the brain-dead, lazy fucks they are!
Then, they can look forward to what you have for a life, now... ZILTCH!
This video has such subtance now that he is in the state that he is. The question still rings true as to who will fill his shoes on many issues of importance. Get well Chris!

@OdinLowe Hitchens: An Arrogant, Selfish, weak little nicotine addicted coward. Thank you for smoking. Goodbye, asshole.
432ps1 2 months ago
@432ps1 no one who had the intelligence of a newt could call Hitchens a coward, he lost many many friends over Iraq. Dosent matter if you think he was wrong. It is bravery to take a position you believe to be right and important, and to hold to it and defend it no matter what the cost.
Lets talk about his physical bravery, lets see you volunteer to be water boarded, lets see you got to Sarajevo and be shot at. Lets see you go to Beirut in the 70s. What a stupid cunt you are.
edcampion19 2 months ago 2
@edcampion19 LOL. Another Hitchens suckass sycophant. He's dead. Get over it. And get a fucking life, loser.
432ps1 2 months ago
@432ps1 thank you for conceding defeat on your previous bullshit and uninformed statement. If this blanket attack on Hitchens is you response to having your previous position annihilated, then I think I was generous in saying you could even aspire to having the intelligence of a newt. The fact that Hitchens is dead has nothing to do with anything, you made an utterly ridiculous statement. Thats what annoying, you have not reduced me to tears in my Hitchens shrine.
edcampion19 2 months ago
@edcampion19 LOL. Blow it our your ass, you weak little suckass sycophant. Go find another fuckin hero to worship. Get a fucking life.

XxpauldadudexX 8 months ago
4 drinks? Without wishing to promote stereotypes, that is a pretty much daily occurrence for anyone here in Ireland. 4 drinks? Really? Fuck that. Happy to be a binge drinker

@MetrazolElectricity
He is English he doesnt even consider himself American, he is in America because its so far behind Europe in terms of religion and shit, he is trying to change America because its badly needs it.
mwillis1000 8 months ago
@mwillis1000 Bullshit, ... he always speaks highly of USA , and loathes britain for being a monarchy where you have to pay taxes to the royals. America has a remarkable and unparalleled constitution.
MetrazolElectricity 8 months ago
@MetrazolElectricity
America has many religouse fanatics, racism is rampant, so is unemplyment as is crime America is no perfect country. He still calls himself English.
mwillis1000 8 months ago
@mwillis1000 America is the closest thing you'll get to perfection. Don't base your generalization of the fine people of USA on glenn beck's crowd. We've got the most diverse mix of immigrants from all parts of the globe. This is the land of opportunities. Like Obama said only in America can his story be possible... Go to europe and you've got skinhead gangs, drunk soccer hooligans and massive sovereign debt.

@MetrazolElectricity
LOL, you are joking right??? Its Glenn Becks crowd which are a majorety. And the "American dream" is utter BS, poor people cant do shit, yet the "American dream" means that they can do anything that means become president. And racism is a much larger problem in America than Britain, you have the KKK ffs, and America has more racial attacks than Britain, also sports hooligans are in America, and America are in real shit economicall too.
mwillis1000 8 months ago

@MetrazolElectricity
Also America has the worst gap between rich and poor for a western nation, far worse than Britain.
mwillis1000 8 months ago
@MetrazolElectricity You make me proud to be an American. Impressive.
DoktorZaius86 8 months ago
@DoktorZaius86 Well, you should be. This is a great country. We've not always adhered to the hallowed ideals set forth by the Founding Fathers (god knows even they did not always), but we have always striven with unbending determination to achieve a greater tomorrow. From the night of Paul Revere's ride to the march on washington to the present day, this nation has been a beacon of light to tired wandering souls from across the world.
MetrazolElectricity 8 months ago
@MetrazolElectricity you got the same in the US :) there are assholes and stuff like this in every corner of the world... so if you dont know what im talking bout, Arian brotherhood, kkk, drunk hockey/football fans, and your country is about to get broke by the end of this summer, or why do you think obama is removing the troops from afghanistan so quickly now? and he got on your oil reserves and lowered the price? to avoid the fact that your country been printing money instead of taking measure
sZeRo0Xx 8 months ago
@sZeRo0Xx Are you telling me that european countries could elect a colored minority into the highest office of the government? Bullshit, my friend. Neo-nazi gang are much more widespread in europe. We've got ACLU, Southern Poverty Law Center , Anti-Defamation league and other bodies that monitor and prosecute such troublemakers. And the debt-ceiling will be raised. We still are the global power in every respect. US bonds are still a safe bet. Oil reserves tapping was just a political move.
MetrazolElectricity 8 months ago
@MetrazolElectricity you had no choice, it was obama or a kind of bush2, and usa has lot more afro american ppl than europe, there is the same stuff like aclu, poverty law center etc with diferent names, you are the goobal power no doubt, but even obama knows the country is getting broke, thats why the troops in afghanistan bieng removed even when the goal isnt achieved, talibans are still strong. and you can read up why usa decided to get on the oil reserves and made them cheaper, fo selfprofit
sZeRo0Xx 8 months ago
@sZeRo0Xx the reason to diminish military presence isn't simply economics, infact, it is only tangentially so. Britain and Germany also tapped their reserves, remember that.

Too bad for Stein that he could get a word in. He would have looked better if he'd kept his face shut.
henkvanderlaak 8 months ago
Yeah but the Hitch says that if he had a second chance, he'd still do the same thing. A man who all should admire and one who inspires many.

especially with his Intelligent Design Bullshit.
treid100182 10 months ago 50
Christopher hitchens and ben stein in the same video. Ouch. It's like someone is trying to show the maximum and minimum of intelligence at the same time. Ben stein is kent hovind stupid.
mistereveready 10 months ago 3
@mistereveready There's a debate in which Ben Stein is the moderator... and Hitchens is debating with a Christian/ intelligent design Goon... and Ben Stein is such an ass, he starts to join in on the debate against HItchens when he's meant to be an impartial moderator. I hated finding out how much of a douche Ben Stein was, because it kinda ruins Ferris Bueller a little bit now.
SethHesio 9 months ago 21
@SethHesio look at the ridiculous* "documentary" that Stein was involved in... a fundie now and a fundie back in 1995.
*I could say religulous, but it's probably trademarked.
simonjeste 9 months ago
@simonjeste do you know the name of the documentary? Ben Stein seems to be one of those people that has convinced himself that he is a scientist and a balanced rational person while holding on to displaying a deep religious conviction. It's kind of weird, almost a sort of disorder. I can't imagine how those two ideals can co exist in any real balance in one person. I do find his voice hilarious, and he's great when he's just acting THAT character, so he should stick to that.
SethHesio 9 months ago
@SethHesio "Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed" (2008) check IMDB and see the rating/comments to understand why I put "documentary" in "quotes"
simonjeste 6 months ago
@simonjeste That "documentary" is one of the two films that I simply could not finish. I could not find another bit of resilience within me to tolerate the bullshit it had excreted by the halfway point.
