Don't need to, I'm aware of that Marcus, I'm in my late 30s and old enough to have experienced all the genres. however it's semantics calling it 'Funk' in the "Old School Funk" sense of the word.... which is comment I was responding to. I doubt the poster even knows the evolution. That's my point. So we can quibble about sources, but the logical extension to the unenlighted would equate Rihanna R&B & what they call 'Electro' nowadays with this stuff - and that's definitely unacceptable.

I don't doubt others in different parts of the world called it Funk. (It IS Funk, but not the same as most of 70s Funk) I'm British, and when our scene was emerging, we called it Electro. No idea what Yanks called it but I'm pretty sure they didn't get the title from thin air since that was where a lot of the music came from!
