your close but its not the same engine..there are three variations of it..the genesis, evo, srt-4..but we are starting to use the evo x turbos and they produce pretty well...problem is our tuning is still developing, once we have a concrete tuning source and not a flash its game on.

A block is nothing more than a piece of metal holding the crank pistons and oil pump..and however they locate the coolant pump... other than that... i see no reason as to why they would completely redesign the block as they would get no benefit from it really.

The Genesis was obviously on the two step and had drag radials. The Supra had street tires, no two step, and the sleeping driver mod. Too bad every supra I run into is prepared. I also run drag radials, have the two step, and make way more power than the Genesis in the video. My Genesis is now for sale and I am upgrading to the Supra. @jalclk1244 A Supra is much more reliable than a Genesis. The head and bottom end can handle 800rwhp, the crank can handle 1100+rwhp, the Transmission can handle over 1300rwhp. It doesn't need to be sleeved to make big power and will make 450rwhp with simple boltons reliably. Not to mention will make 600rwhp on pump gas reliably on stock displacement.

bottom line:

Toyota Supra >>> hyundai Genesis

this is very true.... i had a single turbo that was an 11 sec terror, well into the 400 hp line. but you cant get a 10 year warranty on a supra!

its too old to even get full coverage insurance! that means, when some 17 yr old rear ends you when theyre textin, youre screwed!

@aag599 When you modify a car you null and void the warranty which makes that point moot. The rear ends on Supras are strong. The only weak point are the driveshafts and thats if you drag race a lot. As I stated before even high mileage examples have stronger engine and drivetrain parts than the genesis.

@JissenKenbuu Unless the Supra has an auto trans I don't see supras blowing transmissions at all. The v160 Getrag is one of the strongest transmissions in the world. And just sitting on the sidelines looking at a car break down doesn't always mean the tranny is done. It could have been the driveshaft or the shifter (which happened to a supra friend of mine). The Supra auto trans is still pretty strong at about 500whp.

I am speaking from experience!Honestly the genesis is a horrible platform for any modifications.I have raced a few Supra's,and let's just say that the outcome for me wasn't too pretty. Its over built engine and superb engineering enabled the Supra to be one of the few cars that can make over a thousand whp on the stock motor. Some Supra's are now running 7's in the 1/4 mile,they are also tearing up the standing mile and road courses around the world. Not to mention the infamous highway pulls

Now I know they say you can get a quick head start by boosting the turbo psi but you get a larger head start with the basline of over 300HP with the 3.8. So thats the 1st question..
