What would be your best advice for nervous fliers like myself, which I don't fly at all but because of circumstances of Mexico drug war I must now. Need advice and kinda of assurance of a plane not coming down if I may... Thxs
@Barriolaclemencia Just try and suck it up... remember, your actually in more danger while driving to the airport that while your on the plane. I think everyone (including myself) gets nervous while flying, it's only natural. It may help to keep the window shut, and remember that turbulence is normal.
@Callestahl Best way to become a pilot is through the military. I had the same dream since I was 12 but it would become a very expensive doing because of all the ratings you would need. First, you would need your private pilots license, then your instrument rating, twin engine rating, commercial pilots license and ATP. Then you would need to rack the flight time as well. If you became a pilot in the Navy, Air Force, etc. You would need to be a college grad though.
ok im guessing your a pilot , so please can you help me , i want to be a pilot and i am 15 years old , where can i start off as i have definitely got all my GCSE'S and im am going to sit ICT physiology and economics for my a levels. what can i do whilst doing my subjects to get me started to be a pilot. and what qualifications do you need?? thanks
@2manreds Hi, there is a multitude of things to learn about flying, the qualifications are Physics, Maths, English, Chemistry, geography..... Note that airlines Vary on requirments. I did not get into the industry via a school. I was an RAF pilot and transfered my lisence over.
My biggest tip/advice is to simply read up on flying, Ground schooling. There are a multitude of books you can purchase. Learning the ground school things really pays off. This is not the practical exam therefore boring
@Jetairwayscaptain thanks for replying and i dont stop reading up on planes and watching how to start them up and all of that stuff and i have all of the subjects u listed for my GCSE's and i got told i require 280 UCAS points to be a pilot. i would go to air cadets but the one near me is full of street 'gangsters' on bail and the police put them there to keep them off the streets not giving a damn about the other people there. My dad is going to start taking me to lessons on a air strip. thanks
@2manreds The things you listed are a help, but starting an aircraft engine is not required knowledge. Learning the things about flight are. Rules of the sky, rules on the ground, taxi procedures, t/o procedures, also, remember, no aircraft is alike. Yes a 737 is a 737, but how do you know that it is the same as a 737-300 fully loaded? you see you will learn step by step, take in the basics first, the rest follows. Good luck anyway pls note this is only a basic descrition on what you need
@Jetairwayscaptain thanks and i understand what you mean , is there any guides that offer everything you said to learn and understand ? what aircraft should i start looking at first ? and is there any more advice please ?
@deetjay1 >>> Rotate, is the call used when the aircraft has reached the airspeed at which it can climb. Upon that call, the pilot will rotate the aircrafts' pitch access, thereby climbing into the sky. I am only a Private Pilot, so I am not sure about this next info, but i know there are 3 calls:V1 (VELOCITY 1) indicating the airspeed at which an abort is still possible, Rotate (indicating take-off airspeed, and V2 (VELOCITY 2) indicating a commitment to the air (airspeed).
@deetjay1 rotate is the point in which the aircraft can start to climb, in otherwords rotate the nose up into the desired angle of attack and climbing
Thank you for posting this incredible cockpit view of my beautiful home. I have lived in the San Francisco Bay Area for my entire life. My father worked for TWA from 1945-1985, and I grew up with the airlines in my blood. I fondly recall flying on 747s to London on TWA and to Honolulu on Qantas as a child. Those were such special times, in the glorious days of flying before 9/11/01 changed the experience of commercial flight forever. I wish to someday return to that incomparable feeling.
An excellent video from the left seat. In 1970 I was with the 6th Army aviation and when we'd fly fixed wing from the south we'd fly west of SFO and the city over the Pacific Ocean side. To approach Crissy Army Air Field at the Presidio we'd have to fly towards the Bay by going between the towers of the GGBridge, then on to Alcatraz, bank 90 to the right to Fishermans Warf, and 90 to right to line up for final approach to the 6,000 foot runway at Crissy Field. Thanks for the memories.

To fly for an Airline company, Like you do, does that require a minimum of your Commercial Pilots license, or your Airline transport license? I thought it was CPL but then I read ATL and then I was a little confused
@Flyingmad2007. You can have a 'frozen' ATPL till you have acquired the necessary flying hours and only then you'll have a 'full' ATPL. So it possible to fly with an Airline without an ATPL. In fact when I started my career I had only CPL but with all theoretical tests passed for ATPL.
@SuredT You don't even need that. All you have to do is have proof that a qualified pilot will fly the A/C to the destination. I know many pilots that bought single engine Props for Flight Training and brought the CFI along so they could build hours on the delivery flight.

Yes, you only need a PPL for that. BUT! i really recommend you to take NQ (Night Qualification) so you are allowed to fly in the dark, also i recommend to get a IR (Instrument Rating) So you are allowed to fly in clouds. If you only have a PPL your NOT allowed to fly ether in the dark or in clouds. So then you are really limited of when you can fly doring the day and the weather... But if you also get NQ and IR you can fly anywhere anytime : )
its so cool to see how the sky above turns darker as you climb higher... seems to me, all these stunning views are all worth the hard study to become a pilot... :)
I´m really afraid of flying and unfortunately I need to do it constantly. Your videos help me to understand what happens during the flight especially in the takeoff - my greatest scary moment- and see it as a normal and safe procedure.
Thanks for helping make these moments less scary! =]
@dnhyy You can still become a pilot even with glasses, you just need to be tested to make sure your glasses give you 20/20 vision :D That was great news for me too!
@XxStalkerxSasquachXx That depends...If it's commercial, than yeah its ok if you use glasses if it gives you 20/20....The military is different, they require 20/20 vision from the naked eye, with no prior surgery....kinda sucked for me since I wanted to be a fighter pilot in the Air force :/
why dont just turn right after take off? you go far then turn right.. i just want to know the answer im just curious about it is their a rules..? im sorry just a fan of your landing and takeoff videos
@keichan22 One, you're at the mercy of the departure controller, who may be vectoring you for traffic avoidance or some other reason. But, the main reason is commerical planes flying IFR usually fly published approach and departure patterns that are set up for traffic flow or terrain avoidance, etc...
@MrAaront703 That makes no sense but if you are asking if simulators are easier then the answer is hell yes.But if your asking if simulators can help you and teach you too fly then yes.
I have always wondered with pilots, how soon usually after takeoff do you set the autopilot? Because in the video, if i heard right, i can hear someone say autopilot a short while after takeoff.
@TheMicwasherChannel If you know how to fly, then the 747 is rocksteady and easy to handle straight and level in the air. But as in every aircraft you need practice to fly precise when changing speed and or configuration.
I really appreciate these videos for their quality and the information you provide. I am so annoyed that we as airline passengers never get to experience what is really happening, and most passengers seem unaware or too cool to care. We only get a side view of a jet's movements through a tiny window which is frustrating. I wish they would provide a cockpit view on a monitor in the cabin so I could pretend I'm doing the flying.
Although I am now in my mid 50s, I started my career as a pilot and flew for about 10 years. The last plane I flew was a Cessna Citation and I had to change jobs mostly because of medical problems. I haven't flown since. Your videos are excellent and you take the time to explain as if we were in the cockpit with you. Very VERY good!! Thank you for allowing us to be a part of something that we would never get to see!
Can you upload some videos of you landing on daytime, good visibility with significant windshear or changing wind vectors or turbulence, with camera angle similar to that used when you landed at St. Maarten?
I have a question for you SuredT, do you get an adrenaline rush while flying, especially when going down the runway to takeoff? As a passenger, I had such a rush, it felt like nothing on this earth lol. Also to anyone who loves rollercoasters, and has never been in a plane before, I highly recommend it! It's such an awesome feeling! :)
@doubleBdasher when the plane is rotating, they do not pull beyond 10 degrees, otherwise the tail will hit the runway. Once they are airborne, the nose may go up to just around 20 degrees.
greetings Captain! one quick question: when is positive rate determined? I thought that it is determined once the aircraft passes the runway like shown in some videos, but in some videos, like this one, the gear up call(which comes after pos. rate) comes before the 747 pases over the runway. Is there some sort of speed or height at which positive rate/climb is determined? Great video anyways!
@FSXAce123 It's definitely some flight school in Netherlands. Why not you just go get a KLM ticket and break into his cockpit and ask him if you really wanted to know the exact location! MORON
@ToInfinity1 How do you know it's in the Netherlands, I'm from Enland and I want to go to a flight school in Spain... Why not just not reply to my comments and mind your own business! 'MORON'
@ebksb123 We advance throttles manually to about 40% and then push the A/T engage levers. A/T then advances throttles to 100-105% depending weight of aircraft and length of runway.
hi, im using PMDG 747 to fsx and i have gotten really good at flying and controlling it, but i wonder one thing, what is the tecnical explenation of a BUS? "Bus tie", Utiliity Bus and so on... sorry my english:)
It's funny how on the videos it doesn't seem like you're going very fast. I remember taking the cruise around the bay and going under the bridge thinking how HUGE it was, then from this plane it's so TINY hehe :D

How come you didnt announce V2?
OmsoiTekken 1 year ago
I really appreciate these videos for their quality and the information you provide. I am so annoyed that we as airline passengers never get to experience what is really happening, and most passengers seem unaware or too cool to care. We only get a side view of a jet's movements through a tiny window which is frustrating. I wish they would provide a cockpit view on a monitor in the cabin so I could pretend I'm doing the flying.

@STColeridge22 haha yes, that would be nice!

@STColeridge22 If there were a monitor, everything you would see is two people drinking coffee, and pushing switches.

I noticed that you don't announce V2. Is that just KLM standard procedure?

Although I am now in my mid 50s, I started my career as a pilot and flew for about 10 years. The last plane I flew was a Cessna Citation and I had to change jobs mostly because of medical problems. I haven't flown since. Your videos are excellent and you take the time to explain as if we were in the cockpit with you. Very VERY good!! Thank you for allowing us to be a part of something that we would never get to see!
KEEP IT UP!!!!

Thanks for uploading your videos SuredT.
Can you upload some videos of you landing on daytime, good visibility with significant windshear or changing wind vectors or turbulence, with camera angle similar to that used when you landed at St. Maarten?
Thank you very much and God bless you.

whats the rotation speed on a heavy weight ?
whatstheprob1932 1 year ago
on which angle do you pull up for takeoff?
doubleBdasher 1 year ago
@doubleBdasher when the plane is rotating, they do not pull beyond 10 degrees, otherwise the tail will hit the runway. Once they are airborne, the nose may go up to just around 20 degrees.

greetings Captain! one quick question: when is positive rate determined? I thought that it is determined once the aircraft passes the runway like shown in some videos, but in some videos, like this one, the gear up call(which comes after pos. rate) comes before the 747 pases over the runway. Is there some sort of speed or height at which positive rate/climb is determined? Great video anyways!
ie210 1 year ago
@ie210 positive rate is called when the first officer observes a climb rate of over 500 ft per minute on his vertical speed indicator.

'MORON'
FSXAce123 1 year ago
is it right that you do first 40% advance before doing 95%?
Sorry for bad english^^
ebksb123 1 year ago
@ebksb123 We advance throttles manually to about 40% and then push the A/T engage levers. A/T then advances throttles to 100-105% depending weight of aircraft and length of runway.
SuredT 1 year ago 12
@SuredT so you always fly with A/T on besides when landing?

@SuredT hey i live in the bay and i wanna be a pilot. where can i star?
mariobighammer69 1 year ago
@SuredT Why do the engines need to be stabilised at 40% first?
PRSOV 1 year ago
@SuredT Wow, I didn't know you can takeoff on A/T. Is this to avoid 105% for
longer engine life or less maintenance cost, or is it a protocol?

It's funny how on the videos it doesn't seem like you're going very fast. I remember taking the cruise around the bay and going under the bridge thinking how HUGE it was, then from this plane it's so TINY hehe :D
