DLR outsold Sammy Hagar in albums by a 2-1 margin. 38 million to 18 million.
Roth/VH also sold 250,000 more tickets in 5 less shows than the Van Hagar reunion. DLR's reunion also grossed 97 million to Sammy's 54 million. VH will earn more in one night than Chickenfoot will their entire tour. Sammy loses in every comparison.

dam I didn't know mikey had an alembic bass 3:02. he musta used it in the studio. he's got an original spector there too. didn't know he was a boutique guy
@RICK5150JEM777 Because it wouldn't be strange at all for a 58 year old man to release a song in 2012 about fucking a girl and having to explain things to her *dad*.
@theShowStopper321 where the fuck are you getting this stuff? i'm a huge fan but all ive ever heard was the looney tunes stuff, and i had a live from pasadena civic 1977 lp. what else ya got and how can i hear it!
btw, not real into this song, but the demo version of h.o.p. kicks ass!!!! thx bro
@sparkles67 I got it off Kazaa a long time ago, probably 2002. I can post it or send it to u. The way its recorded and produced it sounds just like the first VH record.
ive a differant version then this one , this sounds a lot more refined then the one ove got , is there two differant versions, this cld be from the diver down sessions????? its quite a bit differant then the demo ive got
@downincognito76 Same here! This is a much cleaner recording than the one I've got. The guitar tone is less saturated here, too, which would be more in line with Diver Down era. Definitely one of my favorite VH tracks.
Hands down hands up this is by far the best unreleased song Van halen has recorded.I think it was later re-recorded for the Diver Down album but never got put on. That pre-chorus sounds like Whitesnake's "still of the night" riff (Eddie's got alot of guitarist by the balls!)
Many of the tunes on Zero there is live recordings they did in the garage. Stuff like "put out the lights" and "get the show on the road" If Van Halen wanted to rule the world again, all they would have to do is get Mike Anthony back in the fold, take these old tunes, put some polish on`em but leave that classic live feel they are famous for and they would have a classic album that would shoot to the top.
Saw VH during this period many times. This recording was done before Eddie switched to his trademark Strat w/ a whammy. No Strat, no whammy on this song. He's was using a Gibson 335 and a cut-up Ibanez Destroyer (both had no whammy). The midddle section riff and solo on this are shit hot! Thanks for posting.
I know this sounds wierd , but this song sounds like "Where do all my friends go" by Oingo Boingo.. check it out ...let the song warm to about 1:30 to hear a similarity.
I visited the site, listen to the song, heard two chords that might be what you're hearing and then promptly came back to talent. And oh yeah, I had to shower to wash off all of the gayness of OINGO BOINGO. I felt dirty.
Well, you better shower after seeing Batman or Spiderman and most movies you see today, Danny Elfman does quite a few big movie scores. Check out his interview with Marylin Manson, you may get a new prospective.
Even Van Halen's songs that for some reason were considered unworthy to take up space on an album still kick ass. Here's hoping Van Halen manages to write some shit that is as these demos.
this is from a 1977 demo, van halen released the first van halen album on febuary 10th 1978 the world tour started in march of 1978. van halen was also signed to warner bro's in late 1977.
Now called BIG RIVER !! ha!! off the 'new' album !!

I have a different version of this. The version I have was recorded for the 1977 Warner demo where they chose what songs to put on the first record.
