It's been a while since we last spoke but this is such a heated subject that I had to speak on it. First and foremost I think that it really is upsetting that we as a people have a month set aside specifically for celebrating the history of "Black people". Speaking from a scientific aspect regarding race, only about two percent of our DNA makes us the color that we are.

They teach us only a one-sided version of history in schools and they teach us only the portion of history that THEY want us to know so until then I don't think tha Black History month, nor months dedicated to any other races for that matter, should be abolished.
I think there should be NO NEED for a Black History Month. What I mean by "no need" is that the country should be progressive enough to actually teach black history in with a regular curriculum and that having one month dedicated solely to it would be redundant because it already is a part of the regular curriculum. They shouldn't be separate ("history" and "black history".) It's pretty sickening that we're still in that frame of mind where we have to separate history according to race.

It's been a while since we last spoke but this is such a heated subject that I had to speak on it. First and foremost I think that it really is upsetting that we as a people have a month set aside specifically for celebrating the history of "Black people". Speaking from a scientific aspect regarding race, only about two percent of our DNA makes us the color that we are.

Also, I think that the term "African-American" is completely stupid.You are an American, just like any other American whose ancestors cam from Europe, Asia, Austrailia, or South America.I defineatly do not think that slavery needs to be forgotten, or handled like it wasn't a big deal, because it was.However, slavery isn't just between white and black. America is called the melting pot because of all the people with different ethnic backgrounds that live here.
I, personally, don't think that there should be a black history month. All history that has affected our country(which is basically the whole world's history) should be taught throughout the whole school year.

They teach us only a one-sided version of history in schools and they teach us only the portion of history that THEY want us to know so until then I don't think tha Black History month, nor months dedicated to any other races for that matter, should be abolished.

I think there should be NO NEED for a Black History Month. What I mean by "no need" is that the country should be progressive enough to actually teach black history in with a regular curriculum and that having one month dedicated solely to it would be redundant because it already is a part of the regular curriculum. They shouldn't be separate ("history" and "black history".) It's pretty sickening that we're still in that frame of mind where we have to separate history according to race.

It's always been strange to me that people always tell black people to get over it, but I have never heard anyone hint at telling Jewish people to get over the holocaust.
I also found it strange that during the Duke Rape case when I asked my white friends when was the last time you ever heard of white rapist of a black woman.
Most of all I find it strange when white people give the, "It wasn't me, I don't have any slaves" speech. While not seeing the privileges received on a daily basis.
