  • Wonderful!! I am with the AUX in SW CO/ NW NM and will say that we spend much of our time on SAR. I would love to point out that you get what you give with the AUX. Some people spend a couple hours a month while others spend well into the 100's each month. Thank you for this video my friend!

  • Great video! Is that guy bowriding at 1:30 though?

  • Can diabetics do this? Looks fun, and a way I can serve my country proudly! =)

  • im 21 years old with a high school diploma, how do i go about joining the coast guard?,

  • i don't know i don't mean no disreapect to any branch of u.s.c.g but the axiliary dnt seem as exicting as the rescue swimers but any way my qustion is that do coast guard ppl go to iraq nd afgahn?

  • @jovanb101 The Auxiliary aren't a military branch. They are a civilian uniformed component of the Coast Guard. Rescue swimmer is an active duty Coast Guard job and yes, it's exciting. It is also one of the hardest jobs to get and qualify for in all the military. Guardians do deploy to various locations throughout the world. USCG is the expert at port security and maritime security. That is usually the job done oversees. Also training other nation's Navys/Coast Guard's. Iraq too.

  • Nice video. USCG-Aux is great!

054-10-6 (Wilmington, NC) I agree with uscgsar, I wish more younger guys would step up. A lot of people I've talked to often say that we're a bunch of old guys that are all Captains or Admirals when we join but they soon change their tune when I tell them the training and actual missions we do. Again great video and thanks for helping project a positive image of the USCG-Aux. Everyone should look into it and JOIN TODAY! Call your LOCAL FLOTILLA for info.

  • do i need a high school diploma to join?

  • I just joined my local flotilla and the greatest benefit is waking each morning knowing that I'm a small part of a huge picture. If you would like to know more feel free to e-mail me.

  • Does the Aux get any sort of benefits? im not just joining for benefits or anything like that im just curious im 18 and looking into making a difference and the way active duty Coast Guard and Navy is going im having a hard time finding a good job. Any info would help.

  • @19Dieppa91 The way active duty and coast guard going? What job do you want?

  • i wonder when is anyone from the auxiliary that i left them my information gonna call me -_- i mean my records are like fresh born new. I'm a hard worker and good experience. What more can you ask? I even passed their entry test with a high score. All i ask was for some work to do something good for everyone. Those ppl must be irresponsible.

  • I joined the Coast Guard Auxiliary 35 years ago and I've enjoyed it!

I like saving lives and helping others learn Safe Boating so that they can save their own lives! Attend a Coast Guard Safe Boating Class or get a Vessel Examination if you have a boat, thinking of getting one or enjoy boating on anothers boat.

  • U.S.Coast Guard Auxiliary is a group of trained, enthusiastic and able men and women of all ages who perform S.A.R. and prevention and augment the U.S.C.G. service.Never underestimate old guys/gals.Greetings from Canada Coast Guard Auxiliary,Unit 240-Central and Arctic Region

  • As an old guy in the CG AUX let me assure you that I can still do the job. We have young, middle aged, old, men, women in our flotilla and we all work together to accomplish the mission. Nobody is shooting at us right now, but none of us will back off if it comes to that.

  • i ship off for active duty coast guard in two weeks

  • The only reason the USCG AUX has mostly older folks is because more younger folks don't step up. All are welcome to. I'm a 30 year old woman and I'm a Flotilla Staff Officer. There is another young person in my flotilla (6-12) too.

  • I'm 20 years old and just joined my local flotilla (0708). I would love to see more people my age stepping up.

  • @uscgsar I just joined my local flotilla as well not sure of the number but at Fort Totten, Bayside Queens N.Y. I am a cadet at the NY Merchant Marine Academy and I am also 20 years old

  • Cool, but it's a way better experience when you serve reguraly.

  • Yes, but just as anything CAP is the US Air Force Auxiliary, and the Coast Guard AUX im sure is same way in the way it serves the country. In WWII the Civil Air Patrol bombed Nazi Uboats trying to attack american ships, etc. They sank some, hit over 57, and scared of more than that. Because of what CAP had done Hitler pulled out fromt trying to attack, a German Officer was asked why, he said because of those damned red & yellow planes. To boot CAP is volunteer, and still are today

  • The Coast Guard Auxiliary (called the Reserve at that time) was credited with sinking at least 1 German Submarine in WWII!

  • Yeah I'm 25 and in the Auxiliary, were not just old guys. You can have alot of fun, and serve your country. Beats sitting on the couch, or watching You Tube!

  • USCG Aux is made up of mainly old guys/gals.

  • i am 17 and in the process of joining as well

  • me too

  • me too dude, i love it

  • this is liviing testimony to the patriotism of Ameicans.

  • I gave you 5 stars too and added it to my favs.

Thanks for the education. It is great to see more of what you do and the USCG Aux using video and FREE marketing outlets like YouTube to educate us, the public, in a VERY cost effective way. I wish more organizations would use this media format! Perhaps USCG Aux boating safety classes on the Internet FREE and accessible 24/7 worldwide?

    Mark

  • So is there any people under 25 years old in the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary? thinking about it, but it seems like there is a huge age difference.

  • No problem - we (Auxiliary) need to do a better job with our outreach not only to the public but also to our membership. My guess is 75% of the members of the Auxiliary also have no idea about all of the other non traditional missions performed by the Auxiliary. Last month 6 members were afloat off the coast of Africa serving as interpreters for the U.S. Navy!

  • a lot of that was actual coast guard and not coast guard aux.

  • nope - all of the color guard, the cruise ship and container (I am actually in the cruise ship photo) the health serivces the air aux, the ice rescue most of the on the water (except the helo) all auxiliary. The formation include myself and another Auxiliary Member who works with the Active Duty unit.

  • What about the Petty Officer and Chief Petty officer in the ccolor guard, i didnt know they had NCOs in the auxiliary. Do they? Otherwise, its an excellent video btw and i did give it 5 stars. And does the Auxiliary do ice rescue?

  • No NCOs - it was a joint c guard, Aux & some AD. Those r L.A. Clippers games. Normally it is just an Aux C Guard. Last year I stood in for a PO @ one of the games. Carried the National Ensign - incredible honor. Yes we do ice rescues - here is the metatag for the photo: Coast Guard active duty and auxiliarist members practice ice rescues on one of the Great Lakes. (L to R Diana Roney, Aux., MK2 Bob Pembridge and Jeremiah Den Boer, Aux.) USCG photo by Robert Denboer.

  • Awesome. Sorry for making untrue acusations. =D

  • I am also 17 and am about to join.

  • I will join as soon as I turn 17.
