I believe God's compassion for Man is such that Hell, as a place of eternal torment, is an impossibility. I cannot reconcile the idea with true Divine love an genuine justice. I could see a "Hell" as a place of temporary punishment/purification for certain selfish/errant souls. Ultimately, I see Jesus' atonement as efffecting a universal reconciliation for all of humanity. In essence, God wins and everything is redeemed.
@Pacisdiligo No, Hell is NOT a place for selfish/errant souls. It is a place for Absolute EVIL Souls. Souls that Love to hurt and give great pain and suffering to others - and never, never, never stop doing this! Only Absolute Evil goes to Hell because it has REJECTED all that is Good.
@Pacisdiligo There is a fallacy in that statement.
God gave man free will, therefore He gives man the free will to choose damnation or salvation. If Jesus saves everyone even if they don't want to be saved, then man never had the gift of free will and this whole exile on earth has been a farce and an exercise in futility.
God damming us to hell is a common misconception, He doesn't want us to go to hell, that's why He gave us Jesus. It is man that damns himself by the choices he makes.
The host took about six minutes to say, in an intelligent-sounding way, "I don't know the answer to your question". They called it a mystery. More like a paradox. A sinner is, by definition, faulty. Why else would they choose what they do? Those faults are present at birth. Even if they don't manifest until some trigger brings them out, a better design would allow them to resist sin. Ask yourself, why would someone choose to behave in a way that wil result in hell, if they can help it?
@001001sith We have nothing to fear from the truth. Comments are welcome as long as there is no profanity and the post is meant for discussion rather than someone just dropping by and lobbing an insult.
The issue is not about free will, this question assumes free will. It's also not about who He gives grace to and who He doesn't. The question is why God would create someone whom He knows will not choose God; even with the sufficient grace given to all, He knows some will end up in hell even before they are born - so why create them?
The question is not even about God causing them to go to hell. So Pat's example is a bit off - the hot air analogy is off in that God doesn't cause the accident, He just KNOWS it will happen.
So if God knows that a specific person will go to hell in the end, why create that person? I guess Tim's first answer was right - it's a mystery.
What does the sign of the cross do for you? Jesus said "out of your bellies shall flow rivers of living water" This phenomena doesn't happen while making the sign of the cross. It doesn't happen while praying to saints of the most high God. Why would you need to pray to anyone ,but Jesus? It happens when you repent and get right with God. When you're baptized in Jesus name for the remission of your sins. Then the most wonderful blessing of all the Holy Ghost! It's a promise from God Acts2:38
The sign of the cross is no different than me asking "Why do you kneel or close your eyes when you pray?" It's just an expression of when we reflect on the Most Holy Trinity. It also makes a cross so I constantly remember what He did for me on Calvary. Secondly, we ask saints to pray for us. It's no different than asking a friend to pray for you. We also know that "a prayer of a righteous man availeth much"(James 5:16) and who are more righteous than the Saints? God Bless You.
Unselfishness...WE choose who we want to follow and where we will eventually end up heaven or hell...I want you to think about one thing...For all those people who are fathers and mothers of a child if you were to know that your own child will die tommorrow and suffer in hell for all eternity who would suffer more? The child or the parent of the child thinking about his childs sufferring? God suffers if one of us goes to hell, he is our father..he is unselfish and lets us choose our own destiny
Don't ever stop making these videos! We may be the voice of reason in a confused and dark war crying out in the woulds to seemingly hopeless avail, but never give up!
I was just about to mention the hot air balloon analogy when they mentioned it.

I can do you one better caller. A person is free to make his or her choices But God knows what these choices will be and judge a person accordingly.

@Cherubaby - Hell is for all unrepentant sinners. It doesn't matter
how severe or how minor the sins are. Sin is sin. All sin comes short
of God's glory. For sin cannot enter Heaven.

why thank you..so i hope by saying that free-will is a inner-sin error already embedded through human creation?
