  • "If you don't love, your life will flash by." Thank you Terrence Malick...for making me realize what the meaning of life is. :)

  • Like this if you were dissapointed they didn't use the fathers line in the movie: "Someday we will fall down and weep and we will understand it all. All things" That is one of the most epic lines ever said in a movie. Cmon Mallick! love you tho...

  • No academy awards... seriously?

  • Very nice filming and sceneries, but the story is too weird are far-fetched to like for me. Great acting performances though!

  • @Obelisk1990 Give it another chance. Smoke a joint by yourself and watch it again, alone. I'm sure it will speak to you more when you experinece it by yourself.

  • Is it out on DVD in the Uk yet? I'm too lazy to google it lol

  • This looks great :D

  • One of the best movies I've seen in along time.

  • I was expecting a tree, a snake, and a muddled naked couple

  • you will spent 2.5 hrs looking at a mom, dad and 3 freaking boys running around with whispers in the background. this shit is dead boring.

  • A unique movie experience (thank God). Wanted to stop watching early on...but couldn't...zoomed in deep, way past the need to be entertained...right to the spirit & soul....glad I kept watching...

  • I thought this was about Aliens cause of the thumbnail.

  • This looks amazing just sayin

  • lolwut

  • is this worht watching i kind of want to see it?

  • @iEATNightmares It's long, and with some long random scenes, but If you really are into Film, yes, it's worth watching.

  • @javierchaconm thanks im glad sombeody finally fuckin said something to me im gonna rent it tomorow now

  • I'm so on the fence about this movie, most people I know who have seen it hate it with a passion but two of my friends believe its the best film of the year. I guess giving it a chance is the right thing to do.

  • This film deeply confused me :S

  • I come back and watch this trailer every few weeks whenever I feel like I've lost hope in humanity, due to all the horrible things going on in the world. It lifts my spirits and enriches my soul. I can't explain it, but it does. I only wish that everyone could see it as I do, and feel the resonance in your own heart and in your own being. Never has a movie moved me so much. Terrence Malick has created more than a masterpiece. No movie, in my opinion, will ever reach this bar. It is not possible.

  • @fartmanx I LOVE THE WAY YOU HAVE CHOOSEN YOUR WORDS I CAN ALMOST FEEL WHAT YOU ARE SAYING & I HAVENT WATCHED IT YET . I MUST WATCH THIS FILM I SEEN THE TRAILER SOME TIME AGO AND IT JUST SLIPPED MY MIND BUT RIGHT AT THAT MOMENT WHEN IT WAS COMING OUT I KNEW RIGHT THEN THIS WAS A SPECIAL MOVIE AND I THINK WE MUST HAVE A COMMON IMPULSE BY JUST THE WAY YOU HAVE WORDED IT . THANK YOU FRIEND

  • @fartmanx I agree wholeheartedly my friend. Not since The Fountain have I seen a movie that moved me and spoke to me like this one does. We need more films like this to uplift humanity and make them see the beauty all around them before they end up like the father, regretting their foolishness as they ignored the glory all around them.

  • wtf is this movie about the trailer is just a bunch of random shit that dont make sense!

  • first i thought i was about a big tree

  • @kuguyuku LOL

  • MASTER PIECE

  • best part of it was that my girlfriend and i, without talkign to eachother, both had to laugh through out the last 15 minutes. this movie is as spiritual as santa clause riding on a cokacola truck while molesting a unicorn. So overdone, so chliché and so meaningless and empty it really shocks me to the core that there are so many humans enjoying this. Hard to keep on hoping for the global evolution of our consciousness.

  • im...so...confused?

  • If this movie doesnt Touch your Soul. . . . maybe you should look deep inside to make sure you still even have ONE! LoL and thats on some real shit.. or like that other guy said "small brain" "Transformers" "me think hard hurt too much" !!!!

  • @douchydouchy I wouldn't want to sway anyone away from watching this movie. Maybe you'll like it and take something away from it that I didn't.

  • try holding control and then zooming out

  • I want to forget this movie and watch it again, and repeat, repeat, repeat... Though I would die from dehydration form all the crying.

  • People saying they cried watching this move. WOW just wow. I can't even imagine that. This was one of the dumbest movies I've watched in a loooooong time.

  • I thought it was boring and protracted. But I'm more the Action kinda guy..

  • Smetana -Moldau

  • name of song at t he beginning

  • this was one weird ass movie ive ever seen

  • @onenhero I bet it's not as weird as 'mr Nobody'. Also bet it's not as good.

  • I thought of Father Dagon when I saw 1:47

  • isohunt.com

  • @blamagenkind shut face.

  • Where can i find this movie??

  • Hmmm, think i will skip this movie. Almost fell asleep watching the trailer...

  • @AussieTheOztralian hahah same here.zzzz

  • does anyone know which song from the soundtrack plays when he says "Some day we'll fall down and weep, and we'll understand it all, all things" i really wanna know D:

  • @InsulinAddictAD I think it's "The funeral march" by Patrick Cassidy

  • The most ostentatious movie I have ever seen. So much of it was unnecessary. Visually it was stunning and a joy to watch. I'm a fan of deeper meaning in films but this reached so hard that it unraveled trying to reach some profound meaning of the greater. While in its attempt to disclose universal secrets and truths it completely disregarded story telling and left you with a jumbled pile of shit. It wasn't even an issue of the story being linear or not; it was just too much bullshit.

  • @jambeeantz BIG WORD ALERT! BIG WERD ALERT!

  • @jambeeantz Noob.

  • @jambeeantz Have you seen The Thin Red Line? Or one of his earlier movies - like Badlands or Days of Heaven? This is Terrence Malick, a philosopher that translated some of Heidegger's works. OSTENTATIOUS?! This is just like saying a Prodigy record is too aggressive/loud...

  • @jambeeantz Ahaha I love how well you articulated your opinion, and then laughed my ass off when said, "a jumped pile of shit"

I almost want to watch this movie to see it myself haha

  • Benjamin button + Inception

  • gay movie

  • 'desperado' comes to mind here..

truth is, it's unless you love and be loved back and THAT is the universe having mercy on a love that is dissed so you do not suffer too long.. a friend on facebook shared this and i am glad this looks wonderfulll !!!

  • Probably least entertaining film ever made.

  • Looked like an introspective movie with amazing scenery, until I saw that hack Sean Penn in it.

  • @MrVIBEMAN So, because Sean Penn's in it, it's NOT an introspective movie with amazing scenery? Look, it's fine if you don't like Penn - I have problems with him, too - but honestly, you forget it's even him while you're watching it, AND he's not even in it a whole lot. Don't let it keep you from seeing it. It's truly a beautiful, amazing movie.

  • @MrVIBEMAN what's wrong with sean penn.. he got fooled by madonna... so what.. we all do foolish things sometime in our life

  • all u idiots below me, drop dead, you have no class, look at your language. your a disgrace. i amtheintrepid, the noobishgamer, zooncrazy, crowarc. so what you CHILDREN NEED TO LEARN WHAT CLASS IS!!!

  • coming from some one called @SPEEDFREKIN

  • I disliked this movie so much. There were no flying robots, countless explosions, or shitty dialogue and acting. This movie is way too over my head, my small brain can't comprehend deep meanings and the themes in the movie. Whatever, im going to go watch Transformers.

  • @boredtrophyhusband Still, it is possible to understand it and still not really care for it.

  • @boredtrophyhusband You just watch movies for the eye candy. Asshole.

  • @boredtrophyhusbandI liked this movie so much. There were pretty pictures of nature, life, and the resolution was great. It made me feel very unique about myself, and could totally relate to the movie while nobody else could, because you know, everybody else is not as smart as I am. As a matter of fact, I had to explain it to the whole audience, because they're not smart either. I am smart. Very smart and i like to show it to people how special I am for having liked this movie

  • @elpibegustavo no, i just don't watch SHIT.

  • Song in the beginning?

  • such a faggot movie

  • @TheNoobishGamer go die you homophobe

  • @iamtheintrepid stfu you faggot cunt

  • to art fag for me

  • wth is this movie? i don't understand random clips just showing up

  • @crowarc The trailer is the whole fucking movie. I'm not joking.

  • @Zunecrazy LOL NOT WORTH WATCHING THEN

  • It is one of those precious films that should not be recommended for everyone to see; let me just say the the words, "open minded" are definitely something that this movie needs from those who see it. Terrence Malick tests and challenges his audience in ways that more directors need to do. He is truly a master of the arts when it comes to films.

  • where can I watch this online??? It's not playing anywhere nearby?

  • Superb cinematography! I definitely going to watch this!

  • @starkpic

Here is a slighly off-topic comment on Brad Pitt, who I agree is a top-notch actor.

When I saw the film "A River Runs Through It' directed and narrated by Robert Redford in 1992 --- the film that launched Brad Pitt's career --- he gave an excellent performance. However, the lead actor who played his older brother, an actor named Craig Sheffer, gave an astounding performance and I predicted that he would become a star. He didn't, Brad Pitt did. Go figure.

  • ughhh...the emptyness in that 1:30 sends a deeeeeep chill through me...

  • I know it's very early to start naming oscar winners, but I don't see any other film beating this one for best cinematography.

  • @Bear1727 sadly this film will not win best picture. it is too advanced for modern audiences

  • I heard "Father" "Mother" and immediately thought Zeno Clash, LOL.

  • This movie sucked.

  • @NateZen you suck

  • this show was teh suck for a story. But to sit there and drool watching all the pretty photographs was ...ok.

  • I have to say this- I applaud Malick (among other things) employing classical music in his films. The Wagner vorspiel and mozart in 'the new world' were used to great effect and already in this films previews I've heard 'the moldau' by smetana and 'le barricade mysterieuse" by couperin.

As far as I'm concerned, the greatest living director.

  • Guide us, to the end of time.

  • @defaultGORDON Someday, we’ll fall down and weep. And understand it all. All things.

  • I wept uncontrollably at times it is the most mesmerising and breathtaking movie i have ever seen.

  • @factualfilms You must have an extremely limited library of movies.

  • @factualfilms fag

  • @waterhouse221 Have you actually seen Tree of Life? I kind of doubt it since people who usually give movies crap are usually the people who have never actually seen them, only basing their skewed opinion on premeditated emotions. I'm not saying that you can't have an opinion- you can think Brad Pitt is a terrible actor but if you're going to make such a harsh statement you should at least try to back it up. Also, make sure you spell things right. Spelling things wrong only makes you look worse.

  • the line "guide us to the end of time" always makes me shiver

  • Hunter McCracken who played young Jack is amazing. He should definitely be nominated for an Oscar. That kid told the whole story of Jack's youth through expression and body language. Very gifted young man.

  • @waterhouse221 Are you fucking kidding me? Have you ever seen Fight Club? Inglorious Basterds? The Curious Case of Benjamin Button? Se7en? FIGHT CLUB? You're just one of those faggots who doesn't watch movies. All the stupid shit about Brad Pitt in magazines is sad, with him and Angelina Jolie, because it takes away the seriousness of his acting. He's one of the best actors of our time, and if you disagree, you're an idiot. P.S. I would pay to see a cardboard cutout of Brad Pitt.
  • beautiful

  • "Someday, we'll fall down and weep, and we'll understand it all; all things."

  • @Bound2Reality i was so pissed they took this out of the movie! it was by far the most powerful line in the entire thing.

  • I resoundingly agree. This film is just inescapably beautiful.

  • does anyone else get goosebumps to this?

  • Omg i juste had a tear...no joke

  • This might be a good movie and all

but for some reason i just don't like movie's with big famous actors in it,

in my opinion the best ones i ever saw where with actors i never knew,

Am i the only one ?

  • @kjah11 I think u are. The ones u never know could never done half as good as Sean Penn or Brad Pitt.

  • @kjah11 no. I think this movie would be a lot more convincing without brad pitt and sean penn. But who knows. maybe this film will change the way we look at film forever

  • @TheBSxperience I actually quite liked Pitt in this movie but Sean Penn's character needed to be cut from the film as he didn't add anything of much substance to it.

  • This was the grandest movie I have ever seen.

    By far.

  • Why does Sean Penn get billed higher than Jessica Chastain? Her part was much bigger, more important, more impactful than Sean Penn's.

  • @roryrabbit And why don't the child actors get any billing? They were brilliant, as well, and had arguably the biggest parts.

  • Aloha young Army Airborne flyers and company of brave young men the thin red line survivors. Your tree of life is alive and well on Kauai Hawaii USA. All young brave heroes our new bridge is dedicated to worldwide heroes’ like you thank you mahalo.

  • The trailer is pure beauty... I can't wait to watch the movie aaaaaaaa O.O

  • brad pitt is the shit

  • That movie was horrible

  • what the f@@@

  • Please, don't butcher this movie in "3D"!

  • Congrats for winning the Palme d'Or! Hurray!!!

  • It looks like stanley kubricks hand held shots. Thanks Lubezki, you haven't failed us yet

  • what's this movie supposed to be about?

  • love it.. so deep from the beginning my choice is Grace yours?

  • je pense fort que ce film remportera un prix au Festival de Cannes... on parie ? ;)

en tout cas, cette bande annonce est SUPERBE !!!

enfin, cela dit, il y a pas mal de films cette année qui m'ont l'air franchement bien...

  • next inception? quite possibly so

  • @gotme753 i can promise you this is not the next inception, or anything like it. this will be remarkable

  • @gotme753 Nothing close. Terrence Malick will provide us at least some substance.

  • Tree of life (Kabbalah)?

  • @ralphfighting could be Darwin as well but you got the answer in the trailer... there 2 way through life: the way of nature and the way of Grace For me is My choice My Grace :) God bless!!

  • I hope he doesn't over do it with the fancy cinematography and camera movements with voice overs like in Thin Red Line.

  • @voidofambition Style > Substance

I don't want to watch a movie if there's nothing good to see or hear.

  • i dont get it

  • does anybody know if south america has a release date for this one ?

  • This film is gonna be huge!

  • WAY to melodramitic... but It can be really good...

  • @HaloCharisma not really to melodramatic. I think it looks beautiful

  • It looks artisticly good

  • No - no words......no words to describe it. Poetry! They should've sent....a poet :'-)

  • @Archetypebadass Hahaha, that was from the movie Contact. Copypasta!

  • wwwwooooooowwww...

  • Urgent, important, read the message in my profile...

  • Its like UP all over again.

  • I fell asleep

  • @1anonymous10

    Aren't you cool and edgy?

  • @Abazigal yes thanks for noticing!

  • There is only one way of life, nature.

  • @MsAgnosticatheist lololololololol God is real though?

  • @Nogard229 No

  • @Nogard229 No, and I know that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are agnostics atheists.

  • @MsAgnosticatheist Impossible, explain water.

  • duithiouhnfbd

i can't wait to see this...the wiki page says it's science fiction...i can't wait to know what it's actually about

  • i didnt get it whats the movie about?

  • breathtaking

  • "Unless you love your life will flash by."

Nice quote, but I think it flashes by anyway. However, I think that if you don't love the knowledge that it flashed by hurts a little bit more than it would otherwise.

I wish your post was a top comment on here. Very good comment, you have keen insight. Though it is a simple truth, you have put it into words. Great comment!

  • grace perfects nature

  • Twitter/TreeOfLifeFilm

  • what the hell is this about?

  • @xhmoobx Everything.

But seriously, it's an art. It's about the images, the emotions and the message more than story. It features a boy growing up with a somewhat abusive father in 50s Texas, but I don't think that's what it's really about.
