@Tampaslice His hooves were shot (no tendons), after the Belmont. He literally had nothing left. The line is built more for grass, or at least starting them later in life (like at three).

Smarty Jones is my favorite race horse! He tries so hard in the Belmont and was so tired when he reached the final stretch to home that a fresh Birdstone just overtook him. He's still the best!

aww i loved it when he nibbled on his chain. he sure looks big for a 15.3 hands-horse! i fell in love with him after he won his last KY derby prep race and he was my favorite going all the way. i did cry when he lost the belmont! but i still love him :)
