I don't see why there are so many bad reviews of this on IMDB. The negative reviews seem "reactionary" to me. But to what? This is a good film. It's what I call six-point-niner. Cruz is brilliant. The soundtrack is ... well, I bought it! Come on folks, whatever you think about this film it is just off base to call it bad.

In Volver I witnessed one of the greatest interpretations I have enjoyed in a cinema, but here...I don't know why but I don't buy it. Maybe it's not Penelope's fault, her character sounds too...invented, forced.

Uh, that was the darkly funny part about this movie. He keeps telling Maria Elena to speak in English, while he speaks in Spanish, they speak in English even though the American isn't even around... it's supposed to be both funny and meaningful. This is a Woody Allen film, and he's infamous for that sort of theme in his work.
