  • you can put it on vmware....

just select 'I will install it later'

    then choose 'windows 7'

    name it

    all that yada yada

  • also you have to remove the floppy drive thing

for more info, just google it

  • Failed to open a session for the virtual machine Win 8 64.

VT-x features locked or unavailable in MSR. (VERR_VMX_MSR_LOCKED_OR_DISABLED).

    Result Code: E_FAIL (0x80004005)

    Component: Console

    Interface: IConsole {1968b7d3-e3bf-4ceb-99e0-cb7c913317bb}

this what it shows when I run it

  • umm can't you make a HDD partition and boot and run windows? just like that with out changing your default OS and keep everything on your main HDD with the HDD partition(run and start it) instead?

  • Thanks!!

  • VT-x/AMD-V hardware acceleration is not available on your system. Certain guests (e.g. OS/2 and QNX) require this feature and will fail to boot without it.

    HELP

  • I DID THE SAME STEPS BUT DOSEN'T WORK "NO BOOTABLE MEDIUM FOUND ! SYSTEM HALTED>>>>>>>> SO INEED HELP

  • ME TOO!!

  • VT-x/AMD-V hardware acceleration has been enabled, but is not operational. Your 64-bit guest will fail to detect a 64-bit CPU and will not be able to boot.

Please ensure that you have enabled VT-x/AMD-V properly in the BIOS of your host computer.

that is what is says when i try to start the boot on my Virtural box please help some on please

  • my vm says that windows could not be sterted

  • @BradGroux I did try to re download to rule out corruption but it did the exact same thing.

  • No need to install Magic iso or Daemon tools or any other third party virtual drive. You can mount the disk with the one that is built into VB.

  • @BradGroux same problem as austinmuthscler but downloaded many times and does not work

  • what would you think if i made the Develepers preview my main OS ? should i or should i not ? cuz i realy want to . but then again ido understand that its just a beta

  • @airborntoxic7 NEVER do that. NEVER. Previews don't let you do anything you would normally be able to do. And you would have to re-install Windows 7.

  • Hey I have a huge question please get back to me very soon. When I run it, it says I am running at 24 bit color not 32 bit and when it is done with the loading bar the splash screen comes up but no loading bar. Then it flashes that my system needs to restart and gives me error codes. Is there a fix? Do you think the dev preview that I have is corrupted?

  • @AustinMutschler I'm not certain, but your ISO may have been corrupt. Microsoft stated that a very small percentage of the image downloads may have been truncated or corrupt, as they weren't quite prepared for the overall demand. You may want to give the download another shot just to rule it out as an issue.

  • @BradGroux Yah i deleted it and downloaded it again I am at 1.3/2.8 GB. I will tell you if it works!

  • Thx. I was n00b.

  • Woah.. nice dude!!! the only problem is the ugly start orb... Microsoft might improve it in the FINAL version

  • @need4speed209 The old start button is temporary, and as you probably noticed, by default the start menu is gone. I don't think this will be the case upon beta release. I believe the Microsoft is basically trying to force the developers into using the Metro UI, so they become familiar with it and want to develop for it.

  • @need4speed209 agree, i'm hating the win orb color, too dull. It seems MS is confused between the Aero theme and Tiles theme.

  • @karistrov Did you figure out the issue with the 64-bit error you were getting with the windows 8 installation? I have the same thing going on. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

  • @karistrov Are you using VirtualBox? You may need to raise the number of processors (settings-system-processor tab)? I'm much more familiar with VMWare than VirtualBox so I am not sure. You could always download the 32-bit version for testing purposes, as 64-bit multi-threading isn't exactly going to boost performance in a virtual machine anyway.
