@angiesuricata That is not in Denmark, that is on some islands more than 1000 kilometers away that are autonomous so they have other laws, politicians, rules, culture, language, flag, everything. hey are part of the Danish Kingdom, but not part of the country Denmark.

We understand your point, but rather than stressing assimilation (turning Turks to Danes) why not stress a "melting pot" affect where Danes and non-Danes learn from each other and have a richer culture. Danish culture (food, etc) could use a more color and emotion.

Well, actually we do. When the Danish embassy is burned and exports from Denmark banned and cartoons of religious leaders are lampooned in the leading paper, etc., Denmark is getting a reputation of having a serious minority problem.

That's not a minority problem mate - it's intolerance and lack of control in muslim nations..

You didn't see any violence in Denmark, you didn't see any attacks on the government or terror here - so that is not "our" problems, it's the problem of the nations who has the muslim extremists who burns buildings and attacks random westerners despite not even knowing that Denmark is a country or where it's located!

The problem is in Syria, Iran and Lebanon - here in Denmark we're doing just fine!

Let's be honest. Denmark has a big problem wit its guest arbiters. Look at ishoj, for example, it's become a bit of a ghetto.

The the publishing of a negative cartoon for no reason than to demonstrate freedom of the press. Immature

I lived in Denmark and loved it. So, it's not Danish bashing.

Every country has its racial and ethnic issues and Denmark is not as homogenous as it once was and that's hard fro many Danes to acept

Of course they help each other out. So do Americans and Middle Easterners and Canadians. We have great love and respect for Danes. We lived there. I hope they can solve their racial problems though, they have some rocky times with their minority residents

To learn more about Denmark, forget Zealand. Jutland is where it happens. See the attraction, the history. If you come to party, well you could just as well do that at home. A culture is the sum of its history.

Danish history reach 5.000 years back. As a nation, we reach about 1.000 years back. See the castle, but try something different. Go to the small towns and see the local museum.

We are not not an open people to strangers, but if you approuch us in a polite friendly manner, we will go to a great lenght to help.

Some call Denmark boring. Will depends on what you call exciting. US. has violence, Dr. Phil and a dumb ass president, so that do spice things up in comparison.

Our health system works, a train system run like clockwork and our police are uncorruptable. You will have a hard time to bribe anyone in Denmark... well at least in the public sector.

I think you're right. I don't know Elat. Maybe he's a bore or a disagreeable person or who knows what he was expecting. I do think the Danes are very good people, a bit flat and lately a bit more racist than I thought.

Having lived in Copenhagen for many years, I'd agree with danishcrusader that Danes can be quite anti-social - except when they're drunk. And the weather in Denmark sucks. Very depressing a lot of the time.
