@ksb100pr Sorry, you have expired any reasonable amount of patience. I hope you have a wonderful life eating all the white flour-covered chicken breasts you want, but your short career of being a pest here is done.
@ksb100pr It's amazing you know my IQ but are unable to understand the nutrition label off a bag of flour. Ad hominem attacks are the last bastion of the weak-minded.
great vids bro. i am going into truck driving and am a bit nervous due to health regs on truckers. i've been working out for the past few months and went from 238 to 220 but stopped there for the past month or so. i only have about 3 weeks until i go off to my new company and decided to try atkins. i read the book years ago but never went with it. my question is what is typical. i officially started on monday morning and wednesday morning i already dropped 7lbs. is that normal??
@franktaylortn That is somewhat normal depending upon the size of the person But 7 pounds in the first week is not unheard of as the body burns through its glycogen stores - primarily water, but after that the true fat stores are consumed.
This was so timely Kent! I am like in an on and off merry-go-round right now for the last couple of weeks, and although I haven't gained anything, I haven't lost either. A lot of it has to do with the new job I have...I work evenings and sometimes get stuck in 17 hour shifts from 3pm-7am...that's rough on me and my body gets like all outta whack. But I appreciate this so much!!! Very insightful!
@an15ha I am glad to hear you liked the video and that it helped you. About your schedule, I can sympathize. My schedule as an IT guy can get extreme at times too like 24-36 hour days.
great chicken recipes. I am doing the hcg diet and the maintenance is low carb, so I am always looking for good recipes. just saw your before pics WOW dude you look awesome!!!
Hello Kent, I hope all is well. First month back on Atkins and I have lost 15 pounds Wow!!! feels great thank you for all your help. I was able to lose the weight with no real excercise, only normal daily activities, maybe a couple of walks, but what a way to lose weight. I am feeling very excited, motivated and inspired to make this happen... I hope to incorporate some moderate excercise this month but nothing to crazy... Thanks again... SLIMQUEST :)
Excellent point, Ken. The weight really is just a number, and for many of us with LOTS to loose, the number can seem very daunting. Focusing on other 'pointers' for success is key for long term success. Thanks for your videos, they are so informative and spot-on.
Getting the weight off is certainly important, but doing it healthy, long term, and understanding its effect on your mood and relationships are as well. Thanks for watching and commenting.
I have been on the Atkins diet for about a month now and realized that I haven't set any defined goals for myself. I am not even sure what weight I can or should get down to. Probably should remedy that sometime soon, but I know that I will be basing a lot of my success on how I look and feel.
Anyone have any ideas about how to figure what one's weight goal should be?
It really comes down to reading those "real weight" height weight scales and then also trying to figure out a body fat percentage target you want to hit. For me I knew I was a bigger guy at 6'4", and knew with my musculature I should be a bit higher than 210-215 recommended.
The old height weight charts could be accurate, and if you shoot wrong at first alter it as you get closer to goal.
I get fixated on the number as I tend to fluctuate up and down quite a bit. I have digestive issues so whenever I am in a process of healing I gain weight. Funny how that works. So now I try not to focus on the pounds but on healing.
Absolutely -- getting healed and healthy / fit has to be ultimate goal. There are too many thinspo girls that have taken thin as the goal to their detriment. Thanks for watching and being right on in your comments.
Another great video man. Hey bro, in your opinion, what body fat percentage should I be shooting for to be healthy, not necessarily "ripped", but healthy?
Healthy for a guy is anything 15% or less. Ripped is single digits (or closer to 6-7%), which is extremely difficult to do. When I am working out daily and running for marathons, I will hit 9-10%, but most of the time I am closer 11-12%.
i concur. because from what i hear from people who have reached goal is this : after reaching goal, maintenence is a different story in itself. some say its harder.
For me it (maintenance) was just different. You had to focus on a lot of different things, and people no longer were cheering for you or as interested on seeing you stay there. It required a lot more personal investment and desire to stay at goal than as you were losing.
It's like after a marathon race -- the crowds have gone home, and you have to still convince your legs to keep working even though they might not want to. :-)
Why I got on a ketogenic diet was originally to cut weight while preserving muscle for my kickboxing and mma try before I was "crippled". TBI not paralyzed just set back! By back I mean a couple years:(.
Last several times I had my bloodchecked my numbers were good. But I also exercise and consume egcg(green tea :p)
Goal setting is all important! First time I tracked carbs and tested with keto strips like every week.
Exactly right... Goals are great. I spent far too many years not living towards a goal and just accepting life or the body as it came to me. I am glad I finally realized like you did that if I was going to get better, I had to take ownership of it and work for it.
I know! If you are waiting for the big blue bird of happiness to finally come to you since you hit goal, you will be waiting a long time. I would encourage others to seek and work towards that joy today. Not every day can be or will be a party, but if you take them as a gift, your outlook will be better whether you weigh your GW or still have some left to lose.
You (the royal you) don't have to be the person the scale says you are, and you don't need to make the determinant of your mood.
Mine went from before Atkins: 198 Total 159 LDL ~35 HDL 130+ Triglycerides to after Atkins: 153 Total 98 LDL 55 HDL 38 Triglycerides Those were my numbers after one year have have stayed consistent in last 4 years.

I don't have a loss goal. I am thinking I want to get a low body fat percentage. It isn't how much I will weigh.
I will never go off my plan.
OMG, you said what I just typed. See how original I am?
Oh well.
Good vlog.
