Every time you turn on your computer, Windows checks to see how this starts and which programs you open frequently, storing this information in small files in the prefetch (Prefetch), and uses it to speed up inicializção, if these files are deleted, the Windws and its programs will take longer to start.
To speed up Windows: I run CCleaner and Webroot Internet Security daily, I run Advanced System Optimizer monthly, I run Disk Cleanup weekly, I run Defraggler and Smart Defrag monthly. I clear history, delete cookies, and erase temporary internet files daily.
i accidentally deleted prefetch datas containing informations file for startup process so wat should i do to recover it back? it seem that my startup now is much slower.
@put1521 create the folder called prefetch in C:\Windows\ and you should be very happy if you still haven't reformated you drive or something the next time you start your computer up it should take a while then restart it again and your pc should go millions faster and start up faster
Very interesting and helpful! Thanks for the tips! I was wondering, could you possibly tell me which programs are safe to delete in Windows,it seems I have too many programs! Also is there a way to stop or delete some some unwanted programs from starting up in Windows? Could these programs slow down my computer as well?
well i deleted them and now when i go to google and look up some thing and then go to the link it gose to google stops for about 4 or 5 seconds then gose to the website can you help me??
my computer ,local disk -properties tools ck now ,defrag =ck both boxes recover bad sectors automatically fix ............wash =clean-up ........windows live one care safety scanner ... a few i like yer too cool
yo zatchman that happened to me...to fix this do a system recovery that worked for me if....wut u can also do is when u log in ur computer and its just black open up task manager and put new task then type in Explorer.exe and it shold pop up
ummm, well my virus scan said i had a virus on, explorer.exe or something, i accidentally deleted it, now my windows is gone, like no icons no bottom bar thing no start menu nothing, i had to get this up though task manager, please help me fix this
ok so youve installed your os anew and put everything on and your about to connect to the internet ok once your done that then this is where you'd install a program called "faronics deep freeze" now this program is alittle complicated but the way it works is like this as I said before your done now that deep freeze is in everything and I mean everything will revert to when you installed it you could go and get the worst spyware you know of and download it into the sys and restart and its gone.
now you might say thats stupid but you can restart after changing the setting to thawed mode then you may make any changes you wish and they will stay that way please note be sure to scan whatever you are about to install and aswell if u install or download something in frozen mode it will be lost in the restart you can permently unfreeze a drive if you wish
Basically you could disable some services, but beware disabling wrong ones might render your computer useless (need to boot to recovery console and change startup type of them). You can disable all eye candy and themes safely.
i might have missed some things, but thats honestly all yo u can do to speed up your computer. ive tried alot of things, beware of deleting things, ive crashed my comp like that. remember Microsoft puts alot of those things there for a reason.
I love my windows and i hate macs. IMO, Windows is much easier to use and less annoying, I hate the dock and those stupid icons that bounce like mad every time you click on them, and it's much easier to learn to use the windows taskbar.
This tip actually speeded up my windows xp quite dramatically: start -> own computer (rightclick) -> properties -> advanced tab -> performance settings -> choose best performance. Now you might still want to choose "use visual styles" and "use the shadow/shade of an icon description" or something like that, next to the "use visual styles"
why is this tumbed down! so what this guy doesnt like windows! you guys really need to chill. The negative is for shit comments like saying the person who made the video looks weird not this crap. And anyways thanks for the advice chris.
lol ya. I used to hate the mac. but now i mean its ok if thats your thing. I love video editing in the mac. FINAL CUT PRO FTW! but i am a gamer so if i want to game i roll on my PC..and i "have" to buy vista for DX10....which i am not looking forward to.
lol yea. i have vista sitting in my attic, use it as a itunes server but i still game on it. not as much as my 360 though. not that i hate windows, i just prefer a mac since it just works and its easier. and yea, movie editing and final cut pro is just awesome.
you are so stpd!!

X-Setup Pro is for me the ultimate tweaking tool for Windows. It can change close to 2,000 settings hidden in Windows. A must-have! :)

True true. It's the hardware. Software tweeking - sigh.. plain annoying. Shouldn't slow down at all. that would of been an improvement.
o0splitpaw0o 4 years ago 8
I agree. Some software tweaking does help, but hardware upgrades have always been the best method, hands down.
