  • this song brings back great memories as a kid.

  • Pino Palladino's fretless basswork is just so good!

  • I know every generation probably says the same thing but I say we had the best of it in the eighties. Real music, amazing characters, mental haircuts! and get this melodies.

  • Paul Carrack and the other Paul Young(Sad Cafe) both snag with Mike and the Mechanics simultanously

  • Ahhhhh! the memories ty ty ty

  • Brilliant song.

  • I was looking for the song "All I need is a miracle" by Mike and The Mechanics that I loved as a teen in the 80's, when I rediscovered the extraordinary talents of Paul Young! I am amazed at how many songs that I loved back then were sung by him! Thanks for posting one that I HAD forgotten :)

  • @Pommama24 The Paul Young that sang with Mike and the Mechanics is a different one to the guy who sang Everything Must Change, Wherever I lay My Hat etc.

Paul Young of Mike and the Mechanics was from a band called Sad Cafe, whose biggest hit was Every Day Hurts. Sadly, he passed away a few years ago - another great loss to the music world.

  • @rickytleg

Wasn't the singer from MATM a guy called Paul Carrack?

This Paul Young sang with a band called The Q-Tips before he went solo

  • the 80s will never be surpassed!!!

Var inneboende 85 hos en tjej som var såld på Paul Young.

  • Minnen!!

  • this is one of my personal 80s favs. makes me teary. play it loud in the car often.

  • Another underrated 80s classic that would have made for a nice movie song

  • Last years American Idol Aaron Kelly looks freakishly like him.

  • This song never gets old!! I love Paul Young, you are a wonderful singer!!!!

  • paul young got a great special voice,

that whe hear to little .... put him on a television show this is great music people wake up.....!!!!!!!! paul young for ever.. peace......

  • bloke in the red suit has a fantastic pair of specs!!!!

  • When I see the boy I think of Freddie Mercury learning as a young boy.

  • Such classic fretless bass plaing by Pino

  • the forgotten song from the man Paul Young ...beatifull love it..

  • I begged my mother to let me have my hair cut like Paul Young, unfortunately, I ended up with a perm which ended up like Kevin Keegan, which never suited me with my round face and dark hair.

  • @Feisty1967: Yeah, I hear you. Actually I had that haircut back then. Loved it and the girls too... Well, nowadays with like around 10% of my hair left, I had to change to a more Jack Nicholson like look. Aiming for for a Yul Brynner style now... :)

    Everything must change...

  • @crayzeebaby Yeah, its a shame men lose their hair and go grey, fortunately mine is still dark and straight!!

  • LA MEJOR EPOCA DE MI VIDA MI FAMILIA UNIDA MI PADRE ESTABA VIVO AUN Y MI AMOR TAMBIEN Q PENA Q YA ES PARTE DEL PASADO.....Q NO VOLVERA MAS.....

  • LA MEJOR EPOCA DE MI VIDA MI FAMILIA UNIDA MI PADRE ESTA VIVIO AUN Y MI AMOR TAMBIEN Q PENA Q YA ES PARTE DEL PASADO.....Q NO VOLVERA MAS.....

  • the legendary pino palladino on bass - cool as fcuk

  • the best part of the song - the outro, was cut out - why?

  • Great song. And the sound of the then future Londonbeat in the backing vocals...

  • his best song

  • 4 people should go to hell

  • he went to same school i went to in luton even though a couple of years b4 me and his parents lived round the corner , not sure if still there though

  • This is a song I like too much, great, thanks a lot for this video.

  • My favourite singer of all time - amazing!

    Love this song.......

  • under-rated song judging by the low number of views. such a beautiful song. one of his best.

  • essa música e linda.

  • Mighty Mullet, great song, great memories.

  • I went into watching this video expecting to laugh at it, but instead I was moved by it. Nice surprise. =)

  • no, it's a different Paul Young. This one used to be in a soul band called Q-Tips and he did a novelty record called Toast, the band was Streetband.

  • I love this song !

I love the first two albums of Paul Young !! Each has great songs, 2nd album had awsome songs (soldiers things, one step, tomb, this song)

  • brilliant

  • *Thanks for sharing this with me*

  • he is cute indeed

  • he is cute indeed

  • There are some intelligent posts here from people who understand that Paul Young was a genuine musical talent, with a great voice and more musical substance to his songs than he was ever credited with at the time. This song stands up today as a timeless classic, really it does. The backing singers are great too; they performed with Paul at Live Aid and also sing on 'When Will You Make My Telephone Ring'by the mighty Deacon Blue. The eighties were a golden decade that will never be bettered.

  • @eightiessongs You are completely right! Paul Young was a truly fine performer who was not credited as he would have deserved and this song tells all the truth about him and his classy interpretation.

  • 46 and I still can't get this song out of my head, it's a great tune.

  • Ya! Good song. Never did get around to making him the father of my babies :P (24 years and still waiting).

  • He is cute ! xD

  • 1:21 - should've gone to Specsavers!

  • Paul Young U R the best.

  • I melt everytime i see him :)

  • how is true! everything changes.

  • The fretless bass gave as much to his sound as his voice did.

  • paul is so cool

always loved this song since i was a child back in the 80s

  • we know who's arse fucking who

    knob head

  • what an amazing voice i never felt like paul got the credit hes due but hey i love the man an i love his music

  • Sounds like it could easily be a modern country classic. His first album showcased his versatility at interpreting music from others, but his second album, from which this song comes from, is simply classic! Hard to categorize, but truly Paul's voice captured and recorded at it's best!

  • And it did...........

  • I've always thought that Faith Hill should record this song. She could do a great version!

  • Faith Hill is shit!

  • 80s had great music.

  • Twas the 80's, wotta decade!

  • sure was a decade. hated it! wish I was back there!

  • I'll always think that Paul was a star in the wrong decade - his voice was far better than most of his songs and he was forced into being a pretty boy for a teenybop audience. Had he been singing in the late60's/early 70's imagine the songs he could have recorded - you get hints of that in his work with the Q-Tips. This is one of his better hits - dreadful video, though!

  • 3:10 love it!

he has such a good voice

my dad get mistaken for paul young most of the time :)

  • such a classic tune, sends me rght back to the great times i had then, he does those 80's tours now with bananarama, nick kershaw, and other eighties bands, retrofest in scotland, a friend of mine was there and played him singing over the phone for me..lol..

  • the 80's was the best century of my existence my mother was alive, I'was a teenager and so in Love with Paul Young!great souvenir I'always will listen to his music ever!..

  • Add my name to that.I know everyone says it of their time but we really had the best of it in the 80s.Love the song,Paul, steel guitar riff, backing group, even the mullets!

  • Remember the motto the mullet was a haircut for everyone.

It had was a haircut that said business in the front and a party in the back lol.

Wow I still remember wearing one and there are a few pictures in my foot locker with burn these after I am gone lol.

  • Oh happy days! The mullet looked cool till it was adopted by the majority of white trash.Had to go in for a quick clip after that.

  • Now it is the style worn by the finest residents of trailer parks in Alabama.

  • great memories! great song! what a magic age! amazin paul! this song is so important for me! just 16een!

  • We miss you Paul!!!

  • i don't know where you got this but it was brilliant. Funny thing is, I haven't heard it for twenty years, but sang along word for word. well done

  • really MUST..and will

  • Great song of paul young reflex on our lives as the years change so does our self into da future slowly thanks for postin this song oz

  • this brings me back some brilliant memories of my mum. she wrote the lyrics down to this song and i sat on her knee and sang it with her and recorded it .. priceless moments

I miss you so much my beautifull mamma xx

  • One of his better efforts, better than say "Toast" single that was in the U.K charts, circa '79-80.

  • omg!! i loved him !! lol

  • this is ian kewleys and pauls finest song

  • This was my favorite Paul Young song. When I was 12 I used to listen to it over and over and it always made me feel better. Thanks Paul!

  • Forget the ganglian damage for a second and listen to the fretless sound of Paul Young. I remember when I first heared this song - I was in the denim-creased bong-judd of my second-cousin's... actually, I can't remember - but we we sat and sang eachother into damp kibble-boredom, like a week last wednesday with the kidney issue. The sound is unmistakable, and when everything else appears to burn itself with flakes - I get out the mars bar and do the deed! Thanks for posting!

  • I don'r remember much about him except for Love is in the air but i know he has plenty of hits

  • Love is in the Air is by John Paul Young.

  • Now this is blue eyed soul at its 80's best. When will Mr Young bring out another song?

  • Good question and about his future only time will tell

  • Thanks for posting. Paul Young is one of the best singers ever. Fantastic voice and so handsome. ;)

  • gracias por este recuerdo,si en latinoamerica no se perderian estos recuerdos, seguramente no habria tantas canciones y ritmos basura que pudren la mente de las generaciones jovenes. gracias (juan de argentina)

  • This song takes me back to when I was in primary school. How I love this song. I must have been a pre-teen PY fan.

  • I love this song. I love this music video. Paul Young has the most handsome and adorable face!

  • the backing singers in blue and red also sang in a band called LONDON BEAT. remember the song I'VE BEEN THINKING ABOUT YOU .

  • Their most famous track was " 9am....on a New York Subway (strap a hangin' ), commuting on the double A......hopeless hope, wordless dream and a worn out wishes.....take a hold.....take control of the comfort Zo-ooone." classic.

  • not sure jay, but I believe it might be the Chi-Lites. I know he redid their song Oh Girl and there had been talk of them doing something together. Great song!

  • the backing singers in blue and red also sang in a band called LONDON BEAT. remember the song I'VE BEEN THINKING ABOUT YOU .

  • Its a great song and those guys doing the background vocals are as much a part of the beauty of the song as Paul's performance. I suck at remembering names but they're pretty famous. Anyone?

  • the backing singers in blue and red also sang in a band called LONDON BEAT. remember the song I'VE BEEN THINKING ABOUT YOU .

  • 9am on new york subway, stop a-hanging commtin' on double A. That was a good song, then they came out with I've been thinking about you, and it was rubbish. Cha wow wow, my arse!
