About Kai Tak: Tricky indeed but as an aviation enthousiast and as a (private) pilot, I really loved the approach. I was able just once to do it in the cockpit from the jump seat.
These pictures are way beyond my time. I remember my late father always talked about those good old time in old HK. Now I got a chance to see what was HK looks like back in that era. Thank you Mike, you had helped me to reconnect my time and memories with my late father. Thanks for the posting!!!
Michael, a big thank-you for the picture of the old Peak Tram Staion, together with the bus stop. I went to St. Paul's Co-ed. College on MacDonnell Road in the 60's. After school I waited in front of the Peak Tram Station for the bus to go home. This picture has brought back many fond memories of my school days.
You are really diggng out your photo albums I can see, I am along with others who are watching/ watched are greatful for your memories and others of that time period.
I have frequently gone back to Hong Kong since 1978 and would have never of seen the images you have put up, but my father born during the 1940s remembers vividly and through your pictures it is becoming a reality
Ja, Kai Tak was geweldig !
Beelden van de naoorlogse HK heb ik nog nooit gezien. Mijn ouders hadden er toch heel vaak over. Sha Tin is nu zeker geen plaatenland meer !!

Must have been a unique experience indeed. There is a very nice clip showing planes almost touching Kowloon house tops when landing.
