  • Absolutely amazing, I think you are really talented

  • Hmm nice blow man, but for me Naima plays it's self, let the piano player (live) voice there way through. You sound fine but I know and I'm sure you do,that your sound is better on that other set up right.Any one with a schooled ear will pick that out. Anyway nice stuff.

  • You really touched me - great impro - thanks for sharing!

  • This needs more views.

  • inspiring long sound practice makes better quality or something I believe

  • very, very nice my friend.

  • Very nice sound. I enjoyed this VERY much. I can see your rockin' a Cannonball sax, but your mouthpiece/reed combo?

  • I love the sound of a Natural Saxophone. Turn off that Effect. You would rock 10,000 times more.

  • @StarflareLegionaire It's actually just an echo, to sound as though he were in a concert hall of sorts. I like it.

  • If you call this 'messing around' may i see your other videos??

  • I just LOVE this piece.....

U R THE BEST ON UTUBE!

  • @ FightingTheWitness you are some what right but the saxophone does contribute to how a person plays and sounds. You can have the same player stick his mouthpiece on a different horn and most likely he will sound a little different every time

  • FightingTheWitness so if the sax has nothing to do with it....why do pros play the nice 6 grand mark 6 horns often?

  • because the Mark VI is the shit

  • thats a badass finish!

  • while chadley6916 and the other dude duke it out, it is a cannonball raven series. if anyone is curious, Keilwerth makes some of the best saxes i have ever played. i play on an SX90R alto, but i have a friend who swears by the tenors too. if anyone s interested, just thought id throw other options out there. btw, dude thank you for keeping Coltrane alive!!! you sound amazing!

  • To get a true saxophone sound, its 90% person 8% mouthpiece/reed, and 1% sax. Its all about the feel, man.

  • that's my man!

  • @joneshall011 u forgot the other 1 percent

  • found your video's, nice stuff man

  • wonderful, I love it. Experimental and beautiful at the same time, just as Coltrane intended it to be played as.

I agree with your comments on the song and Coltrane as well.

You also I have very full tone, and you play like you mean it.

    Bravo

  • I am a newbie looking at his first sax...was looking at the Yam 62S alto, but this is the best sounding sax I have heard on you tube! I know people have said it's a Cannonball (tenor), but I would love to know what model and how much $. You making me second guess the Yam alto route? I don't know if the others are just poor recording or what, but your vids sound AMAZING. Keep it up...

  • its not the sax you retard. you can sound like that on any sax. its the practice and person and mouthpiece

  • Wow, you really are stupid. I'm embarrassed for you...that is how stupid you are. Also, I was not asking for your 2 cents, I was asking someone who actually knows something about the sax...you just stick to what you know...sucking dick.

  • haha im right. youre pretty cool. though.

  • also, chadley6916 said he's a newbie, so it's fair enough that he could assume it's mostly the sax with the sound. I agree with you that it's mostly the player and mouthpiece/reed set up that sounds good, but your comment was out of line.

  • if your still wondering its a cannonball raven stone series and on ebay you sometimes find them for around 1500 dollars. but not often, they are usually more

  • Comment removed

  • @chadley6916 i started on alto and now i can great sounds on all types (alto, tenor, bari, etc.) so while tenor is great, alto is a good starter

  • @AloSec94

I actually went out and bought a cannonball alto, and am enjoying the horn. I must admit I have slacked off lately and need to get back into it!

  • sweet tenor

  • what size are your reeds? 3 1/2 or what?

  • dude your awesome, listening to you gives me ideas when i improv

that intro? im going to use that at the berklee jazz festival next week most definitely!!

  • 5 stars!

  • amazingg :|

  • I love your sound, can you please tell your setup? ^^

  • "as posted on Sax on the Web": he uses a cannonball sax, with a yani metal mouthpiece and lavoz reeds

  • lavoz reeds...where can i get those?

  • most music stores should carry them

  • dude, just curious, how long u been playing for???

i just bought my first tenor sax and am its players like you who are inspiring me to learn this amazing instrument.

  • very well done! from how well I can hear through my crappy sound card it sounded pretty darn good in tune, and a good sound on the lower notes, very very good...

  • by the way, seeing as your playing a cannonball, it most likely came w/ another neckpipe the same color as the sax itself? if so, try the black one, it will provide a more mellow tone for a song like this one...

  • This is one of my favorite songs. I like both John Coltrane's performance and Michael Brecker's rendition of Coltrane's song. Both so great and such outstanding musicians. Anyways, you definitely still did the song justice. Keep up the great work.

  • Mr. Coltrane and Mr. Brecker were master musicians. You took this jazz standard and painted a Pablo Picasso. I don't call that messing around, I call it true passion. You went to the bottom of the deepest ocean and found your blue diamond (second to your wife)!

I honor in you the divine that I honor within myself.

    Thank you for sharing
