It is good but it is wrong. There are extra open E's in there from the picking hand meaning control issues and a glitch in the 4-2-0 part BUT I still like it.
I bought the lesson where alex lifeson teaches it to you. This man is playing it right. It is alwsys the open high e string, you never pull of to the open B string
@Deadfreeeak this is how you play it, weither you like it or not -.- Go look it up on internet, even in some books it's tabbed like this. Maybe you shouldn't use your ears... You're bad at it
On the keyboards??? I think not. I used the Amazing slowdowner on the Permanent Waves, R30 and Different Stages. Seems he plays it different from time to time. Permanent Waves is very different, skipping the 4th note (open e) and actually going down to a open B. Live versions do not have this. But this one looks and sounds correct. Don't know how he plays it so fast so long - must be the 28 years of playing it!
This riff is correct. ANY demo or TAB of this riff that has an open B as the fourth note is just plain wrong, regardless of what magazine or book states it is, or which tribute band /thinks/ it is. They're just not paying close enough attention. Use a 1/2 speed processor AND verify by watching Alex Lifeson's fretting hand in any video or live-performance DVD. Very few TAB transcribers get it right w.r.t. riffs like this, or chord voicings.
I have to disagree. The sound is a bit mushy on this slowed down version so you may be missing the triplet pull off in the second part. Listen to the full speed version v=3Jc1a6LwFuY
@aaalexxx78 The riff is played with the notes F# on the high e, C# on the B string, A on the high e, back to the C#, the back to the F# except you alternate the A note on the high e with the Ab note each time. All played with pull offs to the open high e and B strings each note.

nope thats the right riff i got the december issue of guitar legends and it was all about rush and they got the tabs for it and thats what the tab says soo ur wrong
hey, im tryin to play the riff, but im having a hard time trying to pick the B string then immedatly switch to the E string. They are the 3rd and 4th notes you pick. Im having trouble playing that fast. Anything that you did that could help me in the speed dept?
It's just because it's time stretched to slow it down - it would have been better just to play it slower I guess. View the full speed version. Thanks for the feedback...
Its just because he didn't play it at half speed, just slowed down his full speed video. But anyways thanks for posting this video, helped me out a lot seeing as I don't quite have it up to full speed yet, but now I know that I am playing it right =).

That's right. It just sounds a bit dubious cos it's half speed - like it says at the top.

@kyleleon My mistake, it's a D note on the B string-3rd fret not a C#
kyleleon 3 months ago
There's more to it than that. Alex does half the riff sometimes.

he didn't make it half speed after filming it regular, he just played it slow, that's why it sounds like crap
