The hoax is made by using the magnetron of a microwave oven. It is removed from the oven while still keeping all the connections attached, and placed one feet under a table pointing upward. Directly above on top of the table is where you would place the corn, set the microwave oven to 15 seconds, after which time the corn will pop. Why are the table or the phones not destroyed? It's the same as when you put food in the microwave and your plastic container is not destroyed.
@elchino37 it wasnt that complicated... all they do is edit the unpopped popcorn out and drop the popcorn into the middle... this was revealed quite a long time ago

Your experiment is not enough. It really pisses me that people here are pretending that they're scientists but they do not investgate that well. I mean, have you tried to do that under their environment? Cold place+ microwave signals + heater under the table = 50 % chance of getting those popcorns popped!
They did this on a radio show (only they used a lot more cell phones than what was shown in this video) and declared that it does indeed work. I'll have to look into this. We tried the car remote through the cell phone trick and it worked but maybe the remote was too near the car.

I think why it doesn't work is either because the microWaves produced by a microwave is produced in a certain way to make the microwave hot. The other way is maybe because its not in a concealed? For the record, No you can not pop popcorn kernels with a phone. The Japanese people were sitting in a KOTATSU. KOTATSU is a table with a blanker around it and its really warm (hard to explain, google it) so the table they were on was pretty warm. There are tricks to doing it like using a unnoticeable hot plate but its not gonna happen using a cellphone :P

I have been to Canada MANY times... I LOVE Candada, in fact I'd live in Toronto and be very happy. It was a joke - but a lot of people LIKE smoking pot in Candada, and I see nothing wrong with that and most canadians dont either. Back to the point, you CANT peop popcorn with CELLPHONES!!

I've lived in Michigan my whole life, and I think Canada IS one of the best countries, they've stayed out of wars USUALLY in history (I KNOW Canada has been at war) but, they're usually a peaceful people. Seriously, Our country (U.S.) is nosy. (exept for Japan poaching of whales, we gotta do something about that) but besides that, we're pretty nosy

You should, try the Cell phone car unlock, one. I can't get anyone to believe that it works, And if you do try it don't use a Chrysler product or a European car, Its worked on ever GM or Ford car I've tried though.

For the record, No you can not pop popcorn kernels with a phone. The Japanese people were sitting in a KOTATSU. KOTATSU is a table with a blanker around it and its really warm (hard to explain, google it) so the table they were on was pretty warm. There are tricks to doing it like using a unnoticeable hot plate but its not gonna happen using a cellphone :P
