  • hey yelk, wouldnt lunges and squats build bigger thighs instead of slimming and toning them? when there is resistence in an exercise, you build muscles and that causes the thighs to get big?

  • The guy is smaller muscular body form probably because he's a pretty serious runner. I'm a runner myself so I know what I'm talking about. Problem is people have no clue because more than half of this country is over-weight. Btw thanks for core strength training videos.

  • Take this whole workout and it doesn't match my first 4 sets in my leg workout. 4 sets of 25 back squat. 225 lbs.

  • The exercises shown in the video is good for getting 'toned' legs but if you want a bigger 'muscular' legs, do squats! and use more weights! That said, they are good exercises for warm-ups.

  • Funny, I too would qualify as a 'string bean', however, a bodybuilder friend of mine followed me on one of my leg days a while back. He was throwing up 2/3 the way through.

  • Everyone seems to neglect leg muscles probably because they are the most painful ones to train. When I first started I was the same but once I started to train my lower body it was easier to train my upper body

  • i just did this work out and This is NO JOKE. What a great workout you can do at home. I felt like a 'space man' walking back downstairs at my home. Muslces DEFINITELY worked out pretty well

    i'm pure bone and muscle myself.i've been working out for almost five years. and i'm hating it. i want to be massive not ripped but big.. i hate being ripped only i look like my guts are everywhere. i want my legs to show when i wear pants. and i don't want to have an unproportional body, i hate it when some of my shirts are hanging from behind. i want to be comfortable when i wear shorts, not like my legs disappear from the distance.

  • @YTdiscusser That's not a bad thing! I personally think thin, non-bulky guys are very cute. You don't have to look super bulky to look muscular and attractive. I'm sure you are fine the way you are:)

  • Size and strength are not always the same. Look at fighters (mma, boxing, muay thai, etc). They lift weights all the time, constantly building strength and power, without leaving their weight class. Also, note that he did not title this "Mass Building Exercises".

  • @89Ryanhoward No. What makes your legs fast and quick are fibers in your muscle called Fast Twitch Fibers and Slow Twitch Fibers. Everyone has a different ratio of slow to fast twich fibers. You may be thinking now well how do i get more fast-twich fibers? Well the answer to that is you cannot. It's something generic and you are bown with them and you can not produce more or less of these fibers. The best thing to do is to teach you muscles the certain thing you want to do.

  • Thanks. This really helps with getting ready for OCS. I can feel it. I also wanted to avoid bulk, because I need to be able to run and swim for endurance.

  • I think some of you are showing your ignorance here. He's not exercising for mass gains here. He's working for strength and endurance. I think if you watch him do some of these and get past the jealousy, you could admit that you can not do any of these nearly so easily as he is doing them.

    Also worth mentioning, he's not breathing hard after these. I dare say most of you negative commentators would be reaching asphyxiation by the end of his workout possibly in danger of a coronary.

  • @Ryoden235 Before calling others out for 'showing their ignorance' (which may or may not be true), you should first realise that you can't train for both strength and endurance in the same workout. The methodologies for achieving each of these run counter to each other - strength is typically achieved through low-rep, high weight exercise, while endurance is through high-rep, low weight.

    I agree with your unstated point though; his physical attributes do not detract from his expertise.

    Your videos are very informative, but do you have something for calf workouts? I have giant quads, medium hamstrings, but my calves are extremely small. I have extreme flat feet with bad knees and ankles, my doctor said I shouldn't be running at all. I felt that that my doc might have given me a half assed advice and I'm sure there would be stuff that is safe for me to do. Any advices?

  • you cannot tone muscles.

    you can only make them grow.

    toning is done by reducing body fat.

  • you can definitely tone muscles. working muscles with a much lower weight, but for many reps helps to work and shape muscle fibers for a more "desirable" look

  • @saxman414 yes, because the muscles grow. what they would do quicker with heavy weights. you still won't see that however if your body fat is high, which is why you need to bring that down.
