Cats are not smart. You just conditioned them to behave like that. Look up Skinner's operant conditioning experiments with pigeons. It's fastest with small steps, but by no means necesary. And because they are so stupid cats try many random things. Look up similar experiments with cats locked up in boxes with a lever to open them. They will go crazy and paw at everything until something happens by chance. Next time they're slightly more likely to do that, and after that they gotit

Whoever said they were dumb? Cats are probably much smarter than dogs, but their loyalty is why I dislike them. Dogs are still smart but they are extremely loyal to their owners and don't just leave and comback whenever the owner gives them food. And they playful bite, not full on scram like those cats -.-

And what are you calling loyal? Staying near a person between meal times? What you think is loyalty isn't really amazing. A dog will get lost if they walk 2 blocks away from home. A cat can find their way around much better, that's something closer to what you are calling loyalty.

They're not the kind of pet you could order around to do silly stuff, lock in a cage or tied to a gate. I guess some people hate cat because it makes them feel less superior than a dog would. I know my cat is loyal to me, because I could leave him outside without worrying he would wonder off and never return. I don't need to tie my cat or lock him indoor, like a dog owner would.
