It's strange, when this TV show debuted, Superboy had been retconned in 1986, 3 years earlier. So since 1986, Clark Kent only donned the suit as an adult, and never was or became Superboy.

Most fans would have been accustomed to the change when this show debuted.

@koolaid28: What? Salkind made the best Superman movies ever, with perhaps Superman III being the exception and it hindsight it was not that bad anyway. So it had Richard Prior and not a freaking space monster. Big deal. And this show rocked while it lasted. It was in fact canned not because of bad ratings but like many shows of it's kind at that time it proved too expensive.
