Anal sex has ALWAYS been dangerous because of the risk of bacterial and viral infections. and the physical damage the act does to the rectum. Until the 20th century, a simple infection would most defintely kill you as would internal tearing.

I think it is most people misunderstand President Packer's comments. Apply the following to any circumstance: Does it encourage you to bring God's children into this world? Does it encourage living the commandments? Does it foster a distaste for addictions such as pornography, drugs, etc? If it does not, it is not of God.
