An amazing Morning Dew. Classic. ONe of the best. If your a GD fan you gotta get this DVD of the Grateful Dead Movie. Is an amazing Music DVD. This version of Dew is worth the money for the whole thing!!
Hey FRISCOBAY!!! Great video thanks a lot good to see live Dead shows on Youtube. BUT!!! I have a question...were you there?? Send me a message, just curious.
This is true. I've wondered why he gets know mention in the film, or even on the DVD. You'd think on the audio commentary they might mention him or explain why you can't hear him playing during the bits where he's clearly visible on screen.
Two mics allow, noise cancelling to prevent feedback during live shows with wall of sound setup!! One of the greatest live sounds ever!! Clarity is awesome on the SB tapes from this era!!
For what it's worth, this space jam is actually from 10/17/74. It appears on disc two of The Grateful Dead Movie Soundtrack set as "Weirdness". Only Morning Dew proper is from 10/18.
From 8:00 on is classic dead, if you don't watch it to that point you missed the best part of the song!!! This is an excellent LIVE recording and is from the DVD Box Set.
fuck all of you who make fun of the dead.youre the ones living the "straight" lifestyle and allways sayin shit bout the hippie breed and i'm happy the crowd is stoned cuz i would be too.
It is SO HARD FOR ME TO TELL. Does Jerry use a pick or does he finger pick!? I have "Truckin' Up to Buffalo" and "Dead Ahead" both on DVD, but here it looks like he MAY BE using a pick.
A couple notes: technically this should be refered to as Weirdness, not Space, since that's the name given to this jam on the DVD and The Grateful Dead Movie Soundtrack.
Also, though it seems like one big continious performance, it's actually from two different ones. Weirdness is from 10/17/74, while Morning Dew is 10/18/74.
Sometimes space worked, sometimes it didn't. I always admired the GD's courage for including space/drums in their shows. Acid helped, but there were plenty of kids who dug it w/o drugs. It was a musical meditation. Jam bands just don't sit with the attention spans of today. Love this song!
YUP....you can get a 5 CD package of this music, from the GD web site-it's called the "GD Movie Soundtrack" with LOTS of great stuff from all five shows (10/16, 17, 18, 19 & 20/1974).
the DVD of the old "Grateful Dead Movie" also contains this music. the "Spacey Jam" (which is really the end of Dark Star)-> "Dew" is on the main movie DVD. The Dark Star that precedes the Dew is on the "bonus" DVD. the CDs has the songs in their correct uncut order, ie, Jam>Star>Dew. hope that helped!
Drugs are not fun anymore since the GD lost Jerry.

I have yet to see anything that accurately portrays the hallucinations I had during my trips.
Anyone else "see" it that way?
BTW-I lived in the Haight in 67 & 68.
