  • Hi Apa! I really like the picture you took with my dad at the base camp on Everest 2011. And thank you for coming with us on Island Peak in 1985.

  • These guy's have lungs and hearts the size of bears.... It's amazing...

  • real legend

  • SHERPA DERP

  • Thanks for sharing

    5*****

  • wow massive respect.

  • 11 hour to summit Lhakpa! holy shnykies

  • wooow supermen

  • I wonder if the Sherpas are Mormon

  • hope to climb with you .. we got to snowdon at 5 and people say teh last one are returing now dont go but we hiked up and down fast and my ma went up nearly all the way .. i remember everest in 89 when i passed 500 hikers sherps etc and noone passed me .. but maybe you are yet faster than me !!

  • I mean apa sherpa or any alive ... don´t take any chances now ... but really, we might try to ... better run with you in Utah ! I mean ... Utah just still holds dangers ... that in the Grand Himal are just not there anymore. Everest is today a TOURIST ROUTE.So if you are tough show your toughness by not fleeing up Everest.Anyone can climb in his garden. If you ever know where I am coming from ...

  • 11hrs to climb everest.. jesus.

  • Lhakpa Sherpa i think he died in a avalanche for a few months? or misstake?

  • respect to the sherpa

  • Its amazing how the human body can adapt to even the harshest conditions if given enough exposure.

  • 20 times without oxygen?

  • @estderoma Yes thats how many times. You have to understand that they grew up around the mountain. So from an early age their bodies adapted to being able to survive on little oxygen. Its still amazing though.

  • That's Ama Dablam at the beginning, not Everset. Misleading given they are talking about Everest.

  • Same with me. Before, I die I really want to is to climb this beautiful mountain. 8D

  • If I try to take the stairs to my 8th floor office, I arrive at the office sore and panting for air.

Apa could probably do those stairs in a minute and be like, that's it? LOL

Go Apa! It's time sherpas get the recognition for being the brilliant climbers in the world.

  • Mad respect!!! He should seriously consider calling it a day though. The odds are incredibly stacked against him at this point.

    Just my humble opinion :)

  • @neoplasia200x You might be right in your opinion but i believe he is a strong Nepalese Sherpa, one tough guy! i don't think he is gonna give up yet!

  • wow all i have to say is wow this is AMAZING

  • I thought I saw that dude here in Utah working in a China King resturaunt

  • Comment removed

  • at 1:06 what close are they wearing and were do you buy and aprox how much and would it keep me warm in alaska haha

  • They are tricking the fizycs here.......There is almost no O2 at 8500 m high! Now how the hell can they even breath!MY GRATS GUYS i climbed aconkagua 10 times and even at 6.500m high u can't breath well

  • @bloodfears1 I don't want to sound like a a**hole, but it's Aconcagua. Respects for you that climbed 10 times! I am from Argentina and I know what you are talking about. Cheers.

  • im guessing sherpas dont have to use oxygen tanks?

  • yup, most of them don't use !!

  • Sherpas DO use oxygen tanks climbing everest!!! To climb everest is a gamble even for sherpas...

  • @Patchanka1 Yes, they do use oxygen. It's important for them to stay in as good physical condition as they can so they can help their clients if they run into trouble.

Most of them could probably make it up there without oxygen though. One sherpa spent a whole night at the summit of Everest!!

  • I agree with Sheltelady39. Yes, recognition for sherpa is long over due. Sherpa people have been exploited since 1953 from carrying load up the mount to pushing clients up the mountain so the company can recruit more business.

Climbing mountain for sherpas have been like investing in Wellstreet. Risk and return are 50 -50.

  • The native Kirat should banned people from climbing Mt. Everest. Kirat consider Chomolongma(Everest) as the abode of their ancestors and Kirateswor (Paruhang & Sumnima). Mountaineers have destroy the eco-system around the Everest region. The fees collected by the Nepal government has not seen the development of Everest region either. The money goes into the politician pocket instead.

Respect the Nature. It is not for you people to step on it. You people can never overcome Mt. Everest.

  • @diliprai sunima paruhang is rai people's own myth heroes they have nothing to do with kirat religion so y ur bullshitiing around. you claim paruhang as shiva mate shiva is hindus god. shiva is one of the hindus major god. shiva doesn't live in mt everest. according to brahman shiva lives in kailash parbat.

most improtant fact paruhang (shiva) is nowhere mentioned in mundhum. it might be rai people's personal thing but don't attach it to all kiratis because they thinks its bullshit

  • Apa sherpa are really great!!!

This is really incredible that some guys have reached the Everest Summit 19 times..

I wish lots of success to them.

please help me to sponsor to climb the Everest

  • Incredible

  • These guys have more Everest climbs than Michael Phelps has gold medals!

Meanwhile, I can barely make it up the stairs LOL

  • its my dream to summit, and sherpas really dont get the recagnition they should, thanks for posting this!

  • Thanks for posting this!

  • Thank you for posting this awesome piece about the Sherpas. I have attempted to summit Mount Everest 4 times without success, so I know what an incredible feat it is to have summited Everest more than 16 times. Wow, incredible!

  • Their time for recognition is long over due!! Now Apa'a kids can have the formal education he did not receive. When I met Apa at an REI in Salt Lake I walked into the room where he and Lhakpa were to give their presentation, he walked right up to me, took my right hand in both of his and welcomed me. No, I'm not a climber or anyone importance in that circle. It was so unexpected and spontaneous.

  • I enjoyed the quick overview of who Apa and Lhakpa Sherpa are. Cant wait to see the documentary! Thanks for the awesome post!
