I have known Kilar's music for many years as I used to study in the city where he lived, Katowice in Poland and lived only few miles away and I always loved it. He wrote scores to many Polish films but my favorite is music from film "Tredowata" (The Leper), a film from 1876, it just melts my heart and soul. He is an amazing composer of film music as well as piano and symphonic music.

well, Kilar is an old guy now, he made a lot of soundtracks to movies but became famous after started working for Hollywood and only his Hollywood soundtracks get famous

Wojciech Kilar was always one of my favorite composers, I grew up in Poland in Silesia near Katowice where he lived and composed and have watched many Polish and foregn films with his music like Pomised Land, Salto, Leper, The Pianist, Bram Stoker's Dracula, Rodzina Polanieckich and more. My favorite music was from Leper and his piano music, beautiful! He has been composing film music for almost 50 years.

Marymar1958, yes, I do! It's a beautiful music and Exodus book means a lot to me. I got it at Israeli embassy in Poland when I was 12 and read it twice even when the book was forbidden in Poland at the time. I was fascinated by it so much laterI saw the movie and loved the music. Do you know who composed it? Oh, also check Waldemar Kazanecki and his film music. He was from Katowice like Kilar.

mentioned Exodus as Kilar's composition. I am not familiar with it. I have CDs of his Polish film music, soundtrack from this movie and piano music. Sorry that I misunderstood :-)

Kilar is one of the best composers alive today. If any of his fans has not heard his piece called "exodus" then you are missing one great piece of music. It's like a modern bolero and will become recognized.
