@40390576 SRB's create several problems. They cannot be turned off once started. That is one reason why SRB's are so bad for human travel and one reason Werner Von Braun left NASA. They usually fail in sudden, catastrophic explosions due to case overpressurization. SRB's depend on its propellant is poured into place and cured just right. Since the mid 90's we have seen Indian rockets, Titan IV, Delta II, Challenger, and others fail all using solid fueled engines.

Yet another solid fuel launch vehicle failure. Most big failures have been with SRB's in the last 30 years. I suspect that Orbital Sciences will have much better luck with the Taurus II because its a liquid fueled vehicle much like Titan II and the Atlas V with Russian engines.
The Van den Berg launches are always the worst visually. They always seem to be in the middle of the night too, when there are thick, low clouds almost invariably.
Are any of these test, slowing down the earth rotating on its axis,by pointing westward instead of eastward ???
