@Edawg649 They were'nt to friendly to Dev's fans there. Whilst cheering I had popcorn thrown at me, and met some rude fans. Never experienced that in ANY city before. :(
Brodeur is a great goalie. Roy was a great goalie. And if shootouts gave him the opportunity to tie Roy's record in his native town and then break it in his home ice in Jersey, so be it. I really enjoyed this moment both as a Habs' fan and as one of many Brodeur' admirer. Without the shootouts, he may have reach that milestone against the Coyotes or the Panthers...in front of 8 000 people (or even less). With almost no one talking about this achievement in those states.
it wasn't truly breaking the record on this night. you know why? because patrick roy had to get 551 wins without shootouts. therefore you cannot count of of brodeur's wins that he got through a shootout. in order to find out how many wins he truly has you have to subtract every win brodeur got through shootouts.
typo: you cannot count ANY of brodeur's wins he got through a shootout! and i mean it too! the shootout has ruined hockey at the expense of eliminating "boring" ties. i never thought ties were boring, did you? i always thought it made for a more intense next game between two teams if their previous game had ended in a tie. but even if you did think ties were boring, they were FAIR. unlike the stupid fucking shootout.
yeah, but it's not the one you remember, which i think is a disgrace. bottom line, when brodeur is compared with the great goalies of the past in terms of wins, every win he got through a shootout should not be counted.
if you don't count shootouts, you should also leave out OT because it gives Roy and Brodeur a very unfair advantage against Sawchuck who had an amazing 447 wins, Brodeur has around ~488
and i couldnt find Roy's because these stats are hard to find
That jersey, used in 1945-46, is of the five former jerseys the Canadiens wore during some games of their centennial year last season and part of this season until Dec.4 2009. (the other four jerseys are from 1909-10, 1910-11, 1912-13 and 1915-16) But that one has indeed been used occasionally as a third jersey in the last 5-6 seasons. So therefore the Devils accepted (or had) to wear their home (red) jersey for that game. Have a nice day.
so what he has broken records held by Roy. Brodeur will never be half the goalie Roy was! even though records won't show it Roy will always be the best goalie, and for sure better than Brodeur. Go Avs, Devils Suck!!!!!
Marty is probly the best goalie right now on the face of the earth. he is at the peak of his career, breaking almost every record a goalie can have. excluding a few. i bet im not the only one that says it but Martin Brodeur is probly the best goalie that ever lived. and records wil show it!.
The only possible argument that you can make to prove that Roy is better is that now the games go to shootouts. It's obviously easier to win in a shootout oppose to Roy having to keep playing, overtime, overtime, overtime. But, as a Devils fan both goalies were great, but Brodeur is better overall because of his accomplishments. Pretty much gave us 3 Stanley Cups.
Brodeur is gonna get enough wins in regulation/OT to pass 552 without shootouts anyway, he only needs 10-15 more or something like that. I'm not sure on the exact number.
People like you will always find something to say to deny his greatness. I can't believe I'm hearing that again. He's broke roy's win record and might end his career with close to 700. Roy doesn't even come close in shutouts and just so you know Brodeur could have won at least 2 conn smythe. Brodeur has 1 more vezina and might get another or two by the end of his career. Pretty much the only thing left that roy has that brodeur doesn't are conn smythe and 1 more stanley cup.
what are u talking about?i think he is one of the greatest goalies to ever play! still i dont think he is a match for roy, becuase he just cant match up to the way roy played in the playoffs.. no player can. and just so u know his conn symthes are 0.. shoulda coulda woulda fact is he has 0.. if u wanna play that game there are deffenetley 2 vezinas brodeur did not deserve.. but he has them and thats what goes down in history
Nah but still, I think it's a silly thing to say that he's not in roy's league just because he didnt win any conn smythe, you also seem to neglect the fact that brodeur still have a good 2-3 seasons left. What are you going to say when he retires and is near 700 wins , 120 shutouts , maybe 4 stanley cups , 5 vezinas , who knows maybe 1 conn smythe. I don't think roy's 4 conn smythes (only thing left that brodeur won't have) will be a good argument agaisn't those stats.
ur right id say they are both in top 5 of all time.. personally i woud choose roy as no.1.. remeber he beat brodeur in a cup final showdown.. he faced twice the shots of brodeur and had a better gaa and better sv%.. its clear brodeur dose not match up to his playoff status especially in game 7s. but he does have the stronger records and landmarks.. partly he deserves them, partly his team did for him.
Let's end it by saying that they're definitely number 1 and 2 and it's pretty much a personnal choice for who's first and who's second. But I have to let you know that even though Roy won game 7 in 2001 , Brodeur still have a better record/stats in game 7s. (look it up if you want) So you saying he does not match him up in those games is a pretty bullshit point lol.

I'm a huge New Jersey fan, but also a Canadian, I love that Martin is patriotic and proud of being a canadian, but he wouldnt rather play for a team like the canadiens? where in your wildest imaginations would you think that?
he is the only player that we will actually cheer for when we lose.
the onyl one we will never try to get out of his game, by chanting is name, or booing him.
He has the whole province behind him, and he always gave back to us what we gave him. We respect him for playing his whole career in Jersey, and even accepting a lower salary to stay in a place that treats him like the King that he is.
when i watched this game on msg plus, i was amazed. i was proud of marty that he had gotten this win. but i was also proud of montreal the way the fans even though they saw their team lose, give brodeur that kind of reception. it shows that not only does montreal love its canadiens. they also love hockey and history!
he is the only player that we will actually cheer for when we lose.
the onyl one we will never try to get out of his game, by chanting is name, or booing him.

Congrats to Marty. He is a good goalie. But I think he is a bit overrated. I don't think he's as good as a goalie as people think. I'm a Devils fan. the Devils have always been a defensive team. We had great defense in Scott Stevens, Ken Daneyko, Scott Neidermeyer, Brian Rafalski, etc....... now put Brodeur on a fast offensive speedy team like Montreal. Montreal is nothing but a good offensive team. Let's see how good he really is then.
Thats why hockey is so great.....Nothing but class the way the fans in Montreal cheered for Marty. I guess being one of their own helps, but still very touching.
how many conn smythes brodeur won? .... thats what i tought .. ROY EARNED 3.. even gretzky havent better.. and if you look in playoffs..roy was a impact player.. he was rage to win.. look at the games played roy in playoffs every years.. he was just amazing.. and THE WINS he has.. WOW.. brodeur will not beat that.. Brodeur havent even his asscrack wet cuz his team play a hermetic style.. thats why he dont have a conn smythe.... Bottom Line
haha ure a big fan of devils as i saw on your page.. how the hell u could be a fan of a pathetic lame boring team who play the shitty trap all the fucking time.. BorinG... ZzzZzZz
we wud still wreck ur team (whoever u root for) and im afraid to go on ur channel cus i mite see a pink unicorn background and ur icon just mite be hannah montana
wow u must be a fucking nigger assfuck wanker .. fucking choad lover scumbag motherfucker.. u suck so bad that i bet u could suck a golfball through a garden hose .. fucking prick scrub fuck jackass.. fucking assmuncher numbnuts
how many conn smythes brodeur won? .... thats what i tought .. Bottom Line .. isnt enough??
ok hes got more conn smythes and stanley cups by 1, but what about the award for THE BEST GOALIE DURING THE SEASON? yea thats what i thought brodeur has more oh and an olympic gold medal, most 40-win seasons, most consecutive 30-win and 35-win seasons, scored two goals, oh yea and the most regular season wins which took him less games than roy. so whos better? think about it and let me know. playoffs dont make a goalie great!
hahaha all his awards is bullshit except olympic gold medal, and u know what? he play 75 games every fucking season.. thats why the consecutive 30 wins blabla.. compare to Roy was playing 60 games season max
how are all those awards bullshit? so what if he played 75 games a season? and the thing is it took him less games to get to 551 than it took roy. im pretty sure roy had 75 game seasons.
devils play a defensive style that called "trap" so its favor the goalie .. and get stats padded ok.. so brodeur enjoy that.. thats why he still with the devils and i understand him.. i would not go either in a other team too.. he know he have so much success here .. but last week at the end i think he was minding .. uh? where is my niedermayer?!? HAHA take that brodeur fan .. CHOKED.. he never stole a playoffs like the way Roy did .. that why he doesnt have a conn smythe.. FKN overrated
yea the "trap" defense is easily broken down and the forwards can get past it after the first few minutes of the game so it doesnt really favor the goalie and look how many other teams use the "trap". and how does it pad stats? and brodeur stayed in nj because they are set with him and they know when he will be no longer good and wont be able to continue. and big whoop about con smythes they only show that a player can be there for his team in the playoffs
false false and false.. roy never played 75 games.. i said 60max, bullshit his awards cuz of the fucking trap!.. stats padded.. and just look the blue jackets its the same thing.. Leclaire look liked good.. next year with ott he will be a dump.. and same thing with steve mason..TRAP is just a illusion for making goalies good.. and not much others teams use it: panthers, bruins(sometimes),devils, wild, blue jackets... dude just look how brodeur fail vs the hurricaines.. he showed that hes overrated
ok maybe not 75 but pretty close to 70 a few seasons and last i knew the devils havent played the trap since the 2003-04 season. and it doesnt make goalies look good. goalies that are good just know how to stop the puck. and he didnt fail against the canes. im a devils fan and i say the better team won because of their skill level not because brodeur choked. and i will be the first to say the canes out played the devils most of the series.
ok the highest is 68 and the rest is 60. and it took time for him playing 60games. dude devils play the trap every fricking game when they got the lead.. when they win 1-0,2-1 whatever.. its fucking boring shitty trap. and i will tell you why its favoring the goalies. I think u dont know what trap is.. he dont receive much shots, no dangerous shot, not much scoring chances, the slot is closed all the fucking time, all he doing its routine saves, and yes, look how he fail at last 3mins of the game7
now stop defending your boring team u cant argue the facts and stfu.. brodeur havent his asscrack wet .. and roy is superior to brodeur .. personnally they are from quebec, i like both of em cuz im from there and im proud to have the 2 best goalies of all time.. but people who say brodeur is better that piss me off.. k ;)
im not saying he is better im just saying that they are equaly great and im tired of hearing brodeur got all of those wins because of how many games he played a year when he still has less games than roy. also im tired of other people saying that roy is also better because of his playoff wins and conn smythes. but hey like i said they are equally great
but these are the facts i know he still has less games than roy to get 551 but the matter fact is he got it in less seasons cuz of 70+ games/season and he will probably have 700wins when he will retire
i know ure tired but think about that.. 3 conn smythe on 4 stanley cup.. Ouch .. that mean 3 stanley cup stole by himself.. hes the only one that have 3... gretzky, lemieux =2
There is no more trap in New Jersey. Well, then again Lemaire might bring it back which makes me cringe. But Parise's 45 goal output last season is anything but boring, dummy.
stfu.. not because last year they were not playing the trap that mean brodeur never played in a trap system, HE played it all over his career.. in the playoffs .. he FAILED vs the canes at the end.. maybe cuz there were no trap, and im pretty sure that brodeur wanted lemaire and asked the directions (gm,whatever) to get it back for the trap, and yes lemaire will make it, hes the god of the trap, the creator, and im sure that parise will get 40goals anyway.. ok dumbo
Are you 10 years old? Your incoherent ramblings aren't even legible enough for me to respond to. Maybe you'll understand this..... yourz reTardeds lolerzzz
stfu chodes lover ... u r from saskatchewan fucking cowboy scumbag, go back to your farm and fuck your goat and suck your horse then eat the jizz fucking cowboy fagboy motherfucker.. if u dont understand .. then u dont know shit about hockey fucking corn-holed gaylord
playoffs determinate if really is a great goalie.. maybe not the players .. even if joe thornton choke in playoffs.. he still good anyway .. but GOALTENDING is the NAME OF THE GAME.. that brodeur never proved.. cant steal a playoffs
k yea they may have something to do with a goalie being great but look at hockey when roy played and look at it now it is a lot different with all of the rule changes and things like that. oh and ok thats why he only has one less stanley cup than roy?
im a huge bruins fan but besides the "booing national anthem incident" the canadians are very respectful fans when a player deserves respect and brodeur definitely deserves respect amazing goalie!
i know what you mean, but put it this way. Gordie Howe's goal and points records lasted for decades, and know one thought it would be broken. then gretzky came along and shattered both of them. sawchuck's records in win was broken by roy and he was surpassed by broduer. what im saying is, if hockey will continue to last , great players will come along a break these kinds of records. it all depends on when those players arrive to league. its fate and destiny, if i may.
I went down to the bell centre during the first period to see if i could get a ticket. My brother and ended up sharing a tickets cause we only have so much money but i thought it was to important to miss. I'll always remember watching the end of the third and getting chills.
ok, this is why everyone loves canada, they know hockey and they chear for him. in phoenix, the dumbass hockey wans leave halve way thru the second period and the 60 people who do remain sit on their ass after the game cause they all passed out from drinking.
Im from montreal, that was a great game, Brodeur is an idol for many here and he totally deserve it all, GReat standing ovations from montreal folks, many friends, famlies, fans and Habs fans, showing great respect to him. Even Patrice Brisebois, Who played his 1000th game went to see Brodeur to congratz him. Brisebois is from montreal too. Classy celebration for a #1 class player and person. Met him in real person (Brodeur) and he is amazing for the fan.
I can't think of any other situation where the home team can loose and yet give a standing ovation to a player on another team. thanks habs fans for that, and how come the devils where wearing their red jerseys?
Chico has the best line.. Tuesday night St. Pattys day will it become St. Martys day...I believe it will. Martin Brodeur is the greatest goalie and still has many more years to come
i never really thought much of the canadien fans, not in a bad way i just never drew much attention to them because they seem to be like any other team the devlis play. but the canadiens have now become one of my favorite teams because of the extremely classy people who support their hometown boy and treat him like one of their own. also, props to them for not booing zajac, either.
What a great clip. Class act all the way around, from Brodeur to the city of Montreal. I hope this was super rewarding for him to win it in his hometown. Congrats #30
As the announcers said, this truly shows how great the sport of hockey is, and how great its fans are, a historic moment for martin brodeur, congrats and Go Sabres!

I'm a huge New Jersey fan, but also a Canadian, I love that Martin is patriotic and proud of being a canadian, but he wouldnt rather play for a team like the canadiens? where in your wildest imaginations would you think that?
23codyy23 2 years ago
Maybe you should ask him yourself. Then you would have a point.

@prorobo we always cheer for him.
he is the only player that we will actually cheer for when we lose.
the onyl one we will never try to get out of his game, by chanting is name, or booing him.
He has the whole province behind him, and he always gave back to us what we gave him. We respect him for playing his whole career in Jersey, and even accepting a lower salary to stay in a place that treats him like the King that he is.

when i watched this game on msg plus, i was amazed. i was proud of marty that he had gotten this win. but i was also proud of montreal the way the fans even though they saw their team lose, give brodeur that kind of reception. it shows that not only does montreal love its canadiens. they also love hockey and history!
chemin à faire à Montréal!

Let's see how good he really is then.

badtom93 2 years ago
ok hes got more conn smythes and stanley cups by 1, but what about the award for THE BEST GOALIE DURING THE SEASON? yea thats what i thought brodeur has more oh and an olympic gold medal, most 40-win seasons, most consecutive 30-win and 35-win seasons, scored two goals, oh yea and the most regular season wins which took him less games than roy. so whos better? think about it and let me know. playoffs dont make a goalie great!
jake3033 2 years ago
hahaha all his awards is bullshit except olympic gold medal, and u know what? he play 75 games every fucking season.. thats why the consecutive 30 wins blabla.. compare to Roy was playing 60 games season max
badtom93 2 years ago
how are all those awards bullshit? so what if he played 75 games a season? and the thing is it took him less games to get to 551 than it took roy. im pretty sure roy had 75 game seasons.
jake3033 2 years ago
devils play a defensive style that called "trap" so its favor the goalie .. and get stats padded ok.. so brodeur enjoy that.. thats why he still with the devils and i understand him.. i would not go either in a other team too.. he know he have so much success here .. but last week at the end i think he was minding .. uh? where is my niedermayer?!? HAHA take that brodeur fan .. CHOKED.. he never stole a playoffs like the way Roy did .. that why he doesnt have a conn smythe.. FKN overrated
badtom93 2 years ago
yea the "trap" defense is easily broken down and the forwards can get past it after the first few minutes of the game so it doesnt really favor the goalie and look how many other teams use the "trap". and how does it pad stats? and brodeur stayed in nj because they are set with him and they know when he will be no longer good and wont be able to continue. and big whoop about con smythes they only show that a player can be there for his team in the playoffs
jake3033 2 years ago
false false and false.. roy never played 75 games.. i said 60max, bullshit his awards cuz of the fucking trap!.. stats padded.. and just look the blue jackets its the same thing.. Leclaire look liked good.. next year with ott he will be a dump.. and same thing with steve mason..TRAP is just a illusion for making goalies good.. and not much others teams use it: panthers, bruins(sometimes),devils, wild, blue jackets... dude just look how brodeur fail vs the hurricaines.. he showed that hes overrated
badtom93 2 years ago
ok maybe not 75 but pretty close to 70 a few seasons and last i knew the devils havent played the trap since the 2003-04 season. and it doesnt make goalies look good. goalies that are good just know how to stop the puck. and he didnt fail against the canes. im a devils fan and i say the better team won because of their skill level not because brodeur choked. and i will be the first to say the canes out played the devils most of the series.
jake3033 2 years ago
ok the highest is 68 and the rest is 60. and it took time for him playing 60games. dude devils play the trap every fricking game when they got the lead.. when they win 1-0,2-1 whatever.. its fucking boring shitty trap. and i will tell you why its favoring the goalies. I think u dont know what trap is.. he dont receive much shots, no dangerous shot, not much scoring chances, the slot is closed all the fucking time, all he doing its routine saves, and yes, look how he fail at last 3mins of the game7
badtom93 2 years ago
now stop defending your boring team u cant argue the facts and stfu.. brodeur havent his asscrack wet .. and roy is superior to brodeur .. personnally they are from quebec, i like both of em cuz im from there and im proud to have the 2 best goalies of all time.. but people who say brodeur is better that piss me off.. k ;)
badtom93 2 years ago
im not saying he is better im just saying that they are equaly great and im tired of hearing brodeur got all of those wins because of how many games he played a year when he still has less games than roy. also im tired of other people saying that roy is also better because of his playoff wins and conn smythes. but hey like i said they are equally great
jake3033 2 years ago
but these are the facts i know he still has less games than roy to get 551 but the matter fact is he got it in less seasons cuz of 70+ games/season and he will probably have 700wins when he will retire
i know ure tired but think about that.. 3 conn smythe on 4 stanley cup.. Ouch .. that mean 3 stanley cup stole by himself.. hes the only one that have 3... gretzky, lemieux =2
badtom93 2 years ago
There is no more trap in New Jersey. Well, then again Lemaire might bring it back which makes me cringe. But Parise's 45 goal output last season is anything but boring, dummy.
prorobo 2 years ago
stfu.. not because last year they were not playing the trap that mean brodeur never played in a trap system, HE played it all over his career.. in the playoffs .. he FAILED vs the canes at the end.. maybe cuz there were no trap, and im pretty sure that brodeur wanted lemaire and asked the directions (gm,whatever) to get it back for the trap, and yes lemaire will make it, hes the god of the trap, the creator, and im sure that parise will get 40goals anyway.. ok dumbo

playoffs determinate if really is a great goalie.. maybe not the players .. even if joe thornton choke in playoffs.. he still good anyway .. but GOALTENDING is the NAME OF THE GAME.. that brodeur never proved.. cant steal a playoffs
badtom93 2 years ago
k yea they may have something to do with a goalie being great but look at hockey when roy played and look at it now it is a lot different with all of the rule changes and things like that. oh and ok thats why he only has one less stanley cup than roy?

Brodeur's record for wins could end up being the Gretzky record...never broken.
AEMoreira81 2 years ago
i know what you mean, but put it this way.
