these guys needing to live in our world the way they are (completely retarded) is a much worse punishment than what any of the viewers want to do to them.
You do make some good points, but rely too heavily on the fallacy "argumentum ad verecundiam" (i.e. the false idea that the testimony of a so-called "expert" is to be considered valid only if they happen to be well-known or well-respected in their field).
You don't have to be famous, or be an ivy league academic to give good advice (on any subject matter). The actual logic behind someone's argument, and the relevance of their advice should be the focus; not the person giving it.
The 'expert' is not Ivy League, just a know-it-all hack teacher at a small community college in fly-over country trying to act like a bad-ass. The 'expert' has no real world experience to base an opinion on. It's all about self-aggrandizement, and ego pumping. This whole video is about two real world shmucks with no skills, and over-inflated sense of their real world skills trying to impress each other talking shit.
She is the 'film professor' and a self styled film expert, that wouldn't be anywhere near the industry if it wasn't for the teaching job. "Those that can, do. Those that can't, teach." These two are a battle of egomaniacs trying to one-upsmanship the other.
On defense of HDV, it is possible to get limited DOF, you just have to work really hard. And you talking about cameras that mostly sell for under 8K USD, including glass, and in the right hands, can make a decent looking shot.
@AndiePandaVideo Yeah, I know. I used to own an HVX200A / Redrock Encore combo, and it was okay. The low-light capabilities + 1080p of my current 5d Mark II more than makes up for the crap h.264 format, so it was a good trade-up. I'm not totally satisfied with it, either, but then I don't have a hardon for the Red One, either. I'm not even an enthusiast of camera tech, because it doesn't matter. As every cinematographer knows, glass is everything. I <3 my lenses.
@brybry26 Yeah, she did. In my defense, I can't even understand what 50% of these retarded robot voices say in the first place. These cartoons are stupid. Here's a tip: if it's not worth grabbing WHATEVER CAMERA you have, and pointing it at actors, and making your little comedy IRL, then what are the odds it's going to be worth watching? Hmmmmm.
Thanks Andie Panda, great video, I went to Film School myself so this realy brings up some irritating memories. I knew people just like this. No camera gimic will ever replace solid production work.
A good DP with an HDV camera can out compose a bad DP with a Red any day. Your camera dosen't make you a good DP. Your education, experience, and creative vision do.
Sigh, if you're doing a low budget live event, the real nice Dvcams or HDV will give you much more functionality than the Red of the DSLR stuff. It's not just overkill it's not suited well for the situation, unless you have a HUGE budget. And it will be a while before anyone streams 4K on the web.
@NoHuddleProductions Couldn't agree more. I'm not a RED hater, nor a fanboy. Just tools, each with it's place in the world. This satire is based on real life, and the RED fan bashing HDV, then slathering praise on the 5D to me, is ironic.
I agree with the guy who owns the channel.

@hobocamptheater
I'm sure it wouldn't surprise you that the film school character has jumped on the FCP X bandwagon, and has been talking shit about that.

@AndiePandaVideo doesn't surprise me in the slightest.

This is THE MOST ridiculous thing I've ever seen... I want to shoot both of them in the pancreas..
snowbrdr88 1 year ago
@snowbrdr88 No reason to shoot either one. Just them being themselves for the rest of their lives is a much better punishment.

@chronique86 She said "You won't get a very shallow depth of field with an HDV camera". Also, not everyone who says they are an expert is an expert.
