Exactly. It takes some adjustment, and then we just lock a plate in place that prevents the arm from dropping lower than that level. Then we just lower it until it stops.
GG from TEAM 414 (WE WON THAT [1rst Place Alliance]) We went undefeated in semi-finals and finals there. Preliminaries ehh... not so hot. We perfected our bot's autonomous and we'll definitely be going to the Georgia dome.
I'm woundering, how did you get that bar to come out of the arm? I noticed you added a motor to the top of the arm, but what's it doing? When I look at your arm it seems there isn't room for that bar to come out,so how did you do it?
There was very little room left inside the mechanism, but we managed to squeeze the axle inside with some bearings. It comes out by our good friend gravity and uses the motor and a chain connection to retract.
Ah well at least you could attend another regional, our robot at Cal State Northridge regional had technical difficulties (battery, cables) and some other kid hit our claw, making it not work. My mentor was too busy to go to another regional close by.
Unfortunately not. There was some interference/cable/microcontroller/battery issue that we couldn't figure out, and our robot would randomly stop moving for large segments of the match. We're hoping we can get those problems resolved by the next regional (Las Vegas), but we'll see what happens...
yep! The last one was very cool and worked pretty well, but, if you think about it, 12 wheels is just too much work for the motors (even when there's six!). The tank tread set up is much easier on the motors, and the simplicity of the design makes it modular and easy to work on.
vex not ftc. ftc ftw lol
this is really sweet tho...

How did you guys get the rings to suck up with out moving the arm?: Is the arm just high enough so that the rings just slide up?

Did you guys end up getting your ticket to Atlanta?
Firepalm1234 3 years ago
Unfortunately not... We weren't able to attend the Las Vegas regional due to school issues and involvement in FRC.
However, we may be able to attend Championships if we win an FRC regional, and if so, we may stop by the FTC pits to see what's going on.

Good luck!

Excellent design. This robot has real potential, as does the team that made it.
Good Luck in Atlanta!
