I think im the outsider here LOL i carry a beretta 92 as my edc sidearm, i feel as though she is a extension of my body and i must admit i am very accurate with her! I have a glock as well, i tried to carry one every day but the 92 just seems made for me, im a big fella though im 6,8 350 so i feel comfy even with a large frame sidearm!!
Which would you prefer. I am interested in getting one of the 3, but i dont know which one. i really like the xd subcompact because of the 3 inch barrel and its conceiled size
Your right, it basically comes down to personnal preference and what your most comfortable with given your shooting needs. I carried a Glock 21, then a Glock 22 as a Patrol Officer for 7 years and had a Glock 27 as a back up/off duty weapon. I fired thousands of rounds with the Glocks using various ammo types and never could obtain the same level of accuracy as my SA 1911. The SA 1911 just feels better in my hands and the extra weight makes quick follow up shots (double tap) more accurate.
@safearmsreview u dont need to hit the lottery to get a nice sig i picked up my sig 226 for only 550 used n it was very clean n not used that much n they r def worth the money
@MrPerformanceChannel True I seen them cheaper than glocks. There made in my state of NH.
They are nice pistols in my opinion a nice range Gun. I would rather carry a glock 23 than a 226 for everyday carry. They honestly dont have anything over a glock thats worth the more money. I wouldnt pay a thousand dollars for one.
Wait a minute! you forgot about Walther especially the P99 and PPQ. Walther has been around a few decades OVER a century now with new guns that rival any glock... I Like my P99 ;)
I can remember the days of resisting the Glock, "that plastic gun". Now, you'll have a hard time convincing people to take the 1911 or the Springfield XDM over the Glock. For 30 years my EDC of choice was the 1911 .45 ACP; just recently upgraded to the Springfield XDm.45 ACP.
Reason I purchased my first Glock was due to their reputation for reliability, and their safe action trigger systems. I like the idea on an everyday carry gun to not have a manual safety. With that said that is not the end all be all to what I consider a great gun. I like H&K probably the best, but Glock is doing something right for sure. Atleast with my experience with my 4 glocks. Great vid , 5*
Sane & reasonable presentations on this kind of topic are hard to come by. Thanks for presenting one. It's awfully hard for new shooters to wade through the hype, both from Mfgs & users. Going to go watch some of your other stuff.
I agree with just about everything you said. its all about what feels good to shoot and if you can hit your target. Glocks, HK's, Sig's, Springfields and 1911's are all great guns. there are only a couple complanys I cant stand their semi autos, Hi Point, Kel-tec, Ruger. cant stand them but its all personal preference for me, if the guns were total crap they wouldent make them cause no one would buy them. good video.
granted everyone has a personal prefernce. Glocks can shoot underwater, without special springs, without special ammo, without special considerations. rounds on target is what counts. this guys is a glock hater!
Makes sense, basically once you get into the Glocks, Sig's, H&K's it boils down to a matter of preference. SAF makes a very good point. I own Beretta, and I prefer Beretta over any other. Not because Beretta is a better gun per-se, but because I've always owned Beretta and my beretta firearms are reliable, accurate and durable and I'm well versed on how they operate and function. Reliability in a firearm is #1 to me and all the aforementioned have that in spades.
I'm a glock guy. My glock 17 has almost no recoil and is great to shoot. Also I'm pretty sure that Glock is the only manufacturer ready for use out of the box. There is no break in period. In all honesty though I know very little about Springfield and Sig. But a lot of people love Springfield XD's but from what I have seen they are more expensive. That's just my take on it.
i only like glocks and sigs. sig has a little longer trigger travel but it just takes time to get use to. i can make one hole groupings with both. i dont like xds cause of the 6 oclock point of aim. i hate that.
Great video, I like your educated point of view. I get tired of " Glocks rule, others suck," kind of ideas. There would not be as many different types of guns if Glock was the anwer to the world's problems. Even though I love Glocks, I can't say that they are the best, because everyone is different.
@defensivedesign The new Springfield Armory which has nothing to do with the old one, except the name and has been around since 1974. Springfield Armory does nothing but import the XD from Croatia.
what about bore axis a sig has a much higher bore axis then a glock so it kicks more upward unlike a glock with a much lower one that kicks more strait back i can keep a sight picture better with a glock then a sig and i'm not to experienced in shooting handguns (want to try a steyr m9 if i can they have a even lower bore axis then a glock hehe)
@elknoff Springfield is a company, with no relation to the government armory of days past. Its been around since 1978 I believe. Good marketing department.
Really like your videos and your points of view. Just subscribed and also just got my very first XD today!!! Im so exited!!! XD 40 subcompact. Im also a Glock guy so don't hate because I got a XD hehe Lol.
@SafeArmsReview lol you keep writing that hopefully some day you will be able to own these fire arms because of funds. I think you probably have owned them, lol. What type of shotty is that in the bacground?
My 9mm is a Sig 299R. I'm looking for a .45 down the road, I know there's a lot of modernized polymer frame .45's out there now but there's something about a nice chrome plated 1911 (preferably Springfield) that really catches my eye. Plus the 1911 just seems like a classic that I need in my collection.
I agree with what was said. I own a Glock 9mm and an XD .45cal and I love them both. It all comes down to what is comfortable in your hand when you shoot and personal taste. I am proud to own and shoot both.
I think these days the reason Glock is the police handgun of choice is simply based on price. Glocks are really nice for the price they cost. As far as weight of a pistol goes I want a lightweight for a 9mm. As far as a 40 S&W goes I'll take a heavy SIG. In both cases I want a handgun that fits my hand as nicely as possible. I think the fit of a gun is the most important factor. If a gun does not fit you. Your not going to shoot it well. Great video, and I absolutely agree with you.
I'm a biased Glock person. When people talk about guns being better than the Glock, I will listen for the magic phrase "...the Springfield is designed off of the Glock" then I answer "well that means that the Glock must be good gun then if the Springfield is designed based on it."
As long as you're comfortable with your choice of gun, and it works for you, that's all that matters; if you aim a slingshot at my head I will be fearful, so ANY gun pointed at me is capable of killing me.
I've own a Springfield TRP 1911, an XD9, and a Glock 17. They're all good guns. The 1911 is of course my favorite. The XD and Glock both have pros and cons that make them about equal in my book. It's all about what feels more natural in your hand at that point.

I sell firearms at Gander Mountain, and I always tell my customers that I recommend both these pistols very highly.
I choose glocks because: 1) they are common..lots of parts, 2) ultra-reliable..the standard by which others are judged...you can neglect them if you need to, 3) reasonable price, 4) interchangeable mags (within the same caliber) from one size glock to another, 5) an EASY gun to take down...even to a detail strip, 6) high capacity round capacity ---- now, name a handgun with *ALL* of those features. It's Glock. (and no, the XD doesn't qualify as "common" yet)
Over the years I have owned more firearms than I care to name at this time. I can tell you this, I have M9, which I was accurate with however hated the way they felt in my hands. I have also owned and shot the Sig 228 and loved the gun, felt ok in my hands and could hit the bullseye about 6 out of 10 times. but I always felt like I was reaching into no mans land with that trigger. When i picked up the XD .40 Tactical I felt like this was for me, it felt right. Now if i could see how it shoots.
I just bought my first handgun a few days ago. I got the Springfield XDM 45. I have shot alot of handguns and i found that the XDM 45 was the most comfortable for me. I watched your reviews and wanted to say thanks for a job well done.
I couldn't agree with you more. I was never truly comfortable with Glock, and couldn't step away from my 1911 until my 45XD Tac. I love the gun.... I'm comfortable with it. At the same time my wife hates it and wont shoot anything but her M&P 9mm. Comfort is everything when picking a firearm. Thanks for the vids.
Unfortunately, it looks like most of the comments here reflect exactly what you said: blind allegiance to a particular manufacturer based on less than sensible reasoning.
I like Glocks in 9mm and .40, XDs in .45acp. To me, the larger caliber Glock frames are just too chunky. 1911s will always be my favorite though. Shoot, I love them all.
@Jctotallyrocks Good starter is Taurus or if you are on a budget Keltec makes a 9mm which I was skeptical at first but I have fired one and it was impressive. Best handgun for me is the XD it is incredible.
@Jctotallyrocks 1911. Training with this platform pretty much prepares you for anything else. It is one of the more complicated weapons as it has a external safety and (some) have a grip safety. Once you learn how to use a 1911 in your sleep you can transfer your knowledge to just about any other platform. That goes for sig as well. Glocks are FN GREAT. LOVE GLOCKS. However they are not the safest of weapons (NO I AM NOT REFERRING TO THE CLAIMS THAT THEIR GLOCKS HAVE BLOWN UP), they...
@THarrisson do not TRULY have a safety, however I feel that the argument that my trigger finger is the safety holds true if you are a ever evolving shooter (a person who goes to the range and attends [REGULARLY] firearm courses this is valid) If you are not an evolving shooter I feel that safety are a must and/or a DA only weapon works well. An m&p is a nice hybrid (one with a mag disconnect) I feel that the m&p's with this feature are great for anyone who has to go open carry. If a person..
@THarrisson attacks you and goes for your gun, hopefully you can get the mag out. Even if there is a round in the chamber it CANNOT fire without the mag. HOWEVER I feel that this is rather useless for a CCW carrier. CCW is ALL ABOUT DEFENSE, ergo you will most likely ALWAYS be behind the power curve. If you are CCW I feel that the simplest (caveman tactics) weapons are best for you. If you are a cop (WHO HAVE TO OPEN CARRY) I feel that external safeties and a magazine release is probably...
@THarrisson the best option for you (safety wise), as you are not as likely to always be behind the power curve. Simplest weapons = glocks...I guess you can say its a great beginner gun, but as far as wanting to learn; TRULY LEARN, about weapons a 1911 with an external and grip safety or a sig with a decocker is probably a great way to learn some more about the more complicated intricacies of handgun defense. but hey wtf do I know right?
9 out of 10 gangsters recommend glocks.... They also said that glocks are the best because the can be fired sideways, a must have for any blood or crip... HAHAHA J/K
Smith & Wesson M&P! Damn it. It's just a superior machine. Steel guide-rod. Frame-rails INTEGRATED into the poly frame. Better ergo. the list goes on and on. It's just a better machine over-all. Glock is old. Everyone needs to let em' go.
Good video...the worst part of finding a pistol series you like is knowing it comes in 3 size versions of 5 different calibers and trying to figure out how to get them all as fast as you can. : )
LOVE the Glock 22 both my brothers have one. my dad carries one with work. and so dose one of my older brothers. he is a cop. im getting my carey permit when im 21. 18 right now.
glock is so popular because its overrated and has had a lot of media exposure and myths surrounding it.
now I said overrated, not POS. Its popularity and its fanboys are very similar to that of the Ak-47
and I completely agree with the comment this guy made regarding its use by law enforcement
just because cops use it don't make it the best. Cops were using revolvers while there were plenty of good automatics to use that many would argue are better. again, not saying that revolvers are crap
well put, you have given me a lot to consider. I never would have thought much about what to get until I really think about the USE, "MY USE" I was a fan of glock because friends of mine from the military and colleagues have them and like you said have praised but when I held both in my hand I felt more comfortable with the Springfield. After firing the Sig (for kicks) and the Springfield I felt more comfortable on the XD. I will try the glock and the XD b4 I make my decision. Thank you so much.
Its a personal preference on which gun is better. I think the Sig Sauer has a better trigger pull and is much smoother than a glock but a glock is not as heavy and the glock is a da trigger. Sig is smoother and more accurate but for the price the glock is a more affordable gun.
na iv shot glocks and i shot H&k as well as Beretta along with sig and lots more i love sigs and berettas out of then glock is alot hype bc like u said it can shot under water that what i get out of most people but they are just not for me to light i like heaver gun iv turned 5 or more people off glock due to once they shot something with more weight they love it and glock grips are not as good as others as well good stuff man alot nice points tho
Excellent points. Too often I hear people knocking on different brands and calibers. Some people seem to lose sight of the goals of having certain firearms. They are either to have fun with or to protect lives. Turning it into a debate on whose gun is better seems childish.
I like em both and there practically the same, especially at the price point. I bought a G19 for the prestige but the XD9 fits in my hands better. Might be exchanging soon.
I agree 100%. Arguing over Glock vs Springfield is like arguing over vanilla ice cream vs chocolate. There is absolutely no winner because it is all preference.
Good points. I do think certain guns suit certain situations though. My Springfield 1911 is fun, ergonomic, and really accurate. I also have a Glock 20. If someone is in my home, guess which one I'm reaching for. Let me give you a hint. It's the one that has never jammed, and I bet you know which one that is..
Heya, I'm very inexperienced with real firearms and I was wondering what your thoughts are on the HK USP or HK .45 guns. Are they generally a good choice? What are some pros and cons?
Yeah I noticed those things about em' just by looking around on the net. How reliable are they though? Is there a good video out there showing that by any chance?
not that i know of, my father dad uses a usp 45 as his primary duty gun, with no complaints, just real thick. i use a springfield xd40, with no complaints (thinking about getting xd45, one more round capacity with more put down power). i suggest going and picking up the particular weapons your interested in for a fit and feel kinda thing... and another thing, you can never go wrong with a beretta...
im totally in awe with the XD family of guns. i have a XD sub compact .40, V12 40, and the XDM 40, along with the .45.... i actually perfer the .45 over the others and can actually get a tighter shot group with it. it fits my hand better then the rest, and make a bigger bang. but now its getting harder to find .45 ammo in the stores, and its getting stupid expensive, so im going to my sig mesquito .22
You need to check your local laws to see what applies to you and your area. There is a big difference often in open carry, concealed carry and if a round is chambers and if the firearm is cocked or not.
Wow! your video or review about weapons was very informative and interesting and well detailed on the many weapons I myself love. and just want to thank you for educating me more on certain issues pertaining to functionality on some of the pistols you talked about, and just like u said whatever your comfortalbe with u should buy instead of collecting dust or I would say wasting money.
Hello SafeArms, I want to know what is your opinion on the 10mm and how does it compares to the 357 sig, and which one is more powerful because I've been hearing that the 10mm is more powerful than the 9mm, 40, 357, and 45acp is this accurate information and which should I purchase for a better ccw, and also cost because 45acp ammo is to expensive so I will not buy another 45 again.
I love both guns, but I prefer the XDm, I'm more accurate with it and I like the grip better. But that's MY opinion. The best gun is the one that fits you, and that's all there is to it. They're both excellent guns and they're both accurate, both reliable and anyone who says ones "better" than the other is just a bandwaggoner, in my opinion anyway lol
I agree it is hard to compare a weapon that has been around for a couple of decades with a 1911 which has been around for right at a century.
I will stick with my 1911 a1 in45 acp which has been proven to be effective/reliable/safe , my better half prefers a revolver in 357 magnum, which is a top notch one shot stopper.
use what works for you , stay on target , stay safe
Great video you make great sence, I own a XD 9, SR 9 and G17 and love them all.. They all are excellent pistols one is not better than the others.. Please make other videos.
Guys, if you care that much for your significant other, let them pick the firearm out, let them shoot it, let them figure it out, your job is to at least make sure they do it safe. You may be plesantly surprised at how well and instictive women are when it comes to shooting activities. Support that, encourage the activity, and let it become a part of your lives that becomes an activity that develops the relationship, and who knows a very formadible team may be the result, good luck!
Good stuff, if you take your self-defense seriously enough to get to the point of gaining proficiency in shooting to have a preference. Smart people will tell you (like Steve here) that it's up to you, what feels good in the hand, how well you shoot it, and do you actually carry it for lawful self-defensive purposes. This is especially important for female shooters.
I am a glock and xd fan, and I totally agree with you about that's it's really up to the shooter. My first gun was a glock and I thought it was the best, but then my brother bought an xd and I shot it then bought one the next day. Bottom line glocks and xd are great firearms and I would trust my life with either one. Great video!!!
Good tips, to new shooters, receive instruction and shoot everything you can get your hands on, before you make a decision. Lots of quality guns, find what suits you best.
Glock is ok , I actually like the Walther P99
German Police don't mess around, it certainly has been tested considerably.
I've taught everything from shooting basics to defensive pistol tactics. 9 out of 10 students will shoot better with an XD then a Glock. As a long time shooter and competitor I have no real beef with the guns themselves, but the owners of Glocks are like children who refuse to listen or try new things. I have never had a harder time shooting a pistol as the Glock series of weapons. Just my $.02
@Springr1911 I completely agree, the glock owners seem to be almost cult like
I shot a few different pistols before deciding which one to get. I shot a Glock 22, a Sig 9mm and a 1911 .45.
I ended up buying a Auto Ordnance 1911. Simply, I was more comfortable with it then I was with a .40 cal glock and in terms of reliability they are all excellent. the rest is all dogma.
the sig p226 is what I would have bought if not the 1911.
@Alexn1067 Thank you sir, in full disclosure my daily carry is a 1911 Springfield LW Champion Operator, but own and carry several XD models. I bring them along to classes so that if I have a knew shooter that's having a hard time w/ there firearm they can try something ells. Better then 90% of those who bought Glocks switched to XD's. They're just easier and faster to shoot.
@Springr1911 It does seem as if the XD is an improved Glock, if nothing else, safety features.
I can't really comment on XDs however because I have never shot one. Although it doesn't surprise me that open minded glock owners would switch over to an XD.
I can comment on 1911s however, and I love'em. Congrats on your peace brother.
I shot a Glock 17 years ago and kept getting failures, which puzzled me since that went against its reputation. Maybe that was because i wasn't handling the recoil well enough thus giving the spring too much slack.
Thanks for the channel and for your service. I enjoy my G23. Its low bore axis and resilient polymer frame help tame the 40SW's recoil. The 22 should be even more controllable. Good luck with yours.
When you have time, please consider making a video on the care and feeding of the ar-15 platform along with your experiences as to its controversial reliability.
Thanks again, and thank you for proclaiming your faith in Christ. SDG
+1 to everything you said Steve. I own a Glock and I don't go around talking trash about other makes and models. I actually tell my friends who are looking to buy a gun to go out and spend a little time at the range with different makes and models to see what fit you best.
My first gun choice was an M&P but it did not feel comfortable so I ended up getting a Glock which wasn't even on my list.
Great points.I still haven't found the perfect gun.I have Glocks,Smith&wessons,Colts,Rugers,Kimbers etc.etc.the search goes on.And it's fun.That's the main point.5*S
For the price you get way more for your dollar with the XD for a service or self defense handgun in the $500 price range. I have found the XD to be a more accurate handgun than the Glock. As long as the weapon your carrying it must be reliable every time no matter which one you choose. I personally carry A Kahr cw 9mm because it is slim compact and is reliable not as accurate as my XD but for daily carry I find it work for my needs. Practice to be proficient with the gun of your choice.
I agree with you almost 100%. As far as weight goes. The issue with weight more deals with a "tactical" aspect. Lighter gun means less wear on the wearer. Personally I wouldn't buy anything over a .40 caliber in the Glock series. It's too light to really shoot it comfortable (IMHO) in higher calibers. There is also a Glock 19 video of a man shooting underwater with the muzzle down. But for most users this isn't really something that should be taken into concideration when choose a firearm.
Sir the glock's receiver is polymer and aid's in recoil absorbtion this reduces the recoil not creating over recoil like the glock's are well balanced due to the high capacity mag's IMO the glock is top notch sorry if you don't agree but just take a look at all the manufactures making polymer gun's that are very close looking to the glock now that say's alot about "GLOCK".
Well sir, I made a video shooting my GLOCL27 fully stock with hollow point's under water to prove that glock will shoot stock under water and that's not a 9mm it's a 40 S&W caliber no merit time cupling's..I attached to your vid in responce.
hey Steve you have remember when Glock came out alot of people scoffed at the gun as being a "Plastic " gun. and thought that a pistol had to be metal. as far as recoil the slide spring can change the recoil of a lighter gun. also in the shooting clubs SSR class the Glock 17 and 34 are the guns of choice. now I shoot a Ruger SR9 which competes well. I prefer less weight I have no problems with accuracy. ps. springfieid is a geat gun so are S&W M&P Sigs but Taurus? LOL!
I called him and he said he printed it out for me. He is an old guy and could not tell me the exact web address over the phone. So I'll pick it up tomorrow morning and let you know right here on safe arms channel.
Your 100% correct, reliability is a plus, but also what fits comfortably in your hand, and correctly lines up with your eye, I was taught to bring the weapon up to sight with your eyes closed, open your eyes, and see how close it is to being on target, unloaded of course, but a proper fit should be really close to if not right on sight. once again good video SAR...
when i was young i like Sig 226 stainless slide and frame but as iv gotten older i like.. kimber 1911stainless slide and frame just like the trigger pull no recoil on either guns.. Google Glock kaboom!
i seen that story some where before, but i was thinking that there was something else to it other than it just going BOOM.. wasn't it from a squib fire?
i like the springfield xd. it has a much easier trigger pull, better safety than glock. glock has no safety, too dangersou. and springfield has less recoil because it's a few ounces more than the light glock. the only thing i dont like about the springfield xd is the slide has too many edges which hurts my hand when i rack the slide.
yeah i own a glock 17. i don't count the trigger safety as true safety and internal safety is only for if you drop it. glock seems cheap. people like it cuz it doesn't break. that's the only good thing about it. i shoot better with a springfield. more accurate.
Great video. always like watching your commentary videos along with your shooting/review videos. Keep an eye out for police or security company trade ins. Mostly they're only used for qualifications and have holster wear but still in great shape. Also if the Gen4 comes out it might drop the price too.
My opinion is that too many companies are not thinking outside the box. Most are firearm's are mearly revision's that are re named, reboxed and market to the public as something new, cool and more reliabile. I think Glock was a hit because of the Thermal Plasic Revolution. I could into detail....
Great minds, love my Glock 22. It came down to it and a CZ 75 SP-01(still want one of those btw). What it came down too for me was the simplicity of the look and operation of the Glock.
It is all about what feels right and what works. This whole my brand is better than your thing reminds of Chevy beats Ford blah blah blah. lol Thanks for the vid.
me too, i have the 22C, and a baby desert eagle, which is a lot like the CZ.. or the Jericho. i also have a Glock 27 which i just got on trade from my FN .357sig. i also have a Ruger LCP.. that is a fun little gun
when i FIRST took my glock 21 sf to the range, i was missing the target... completely at some points. but a little study, dry fire practice (this was key to me) and i realize if you point your arms straight, and leveled with your eyes, with out really looking at the sight... you are generally on target, try at home with an empty gun and point at random things, then try to do it with your eyes closed, good practice.
I am glad you addressed the weight issue. I have a Glock 22 and I love it, but if I had to change one thing it would be the weight. It took me a while to get used to the massive recoil. It does affect your ability to stay on target during multiple shots and takes a lot of practice to adjust to it.
i noticed a lot if difference in recoil with the Glock 22C.. over the 22. my friend has the non-compensated model and we fired them both one day back to back, and i noticed a big difference
I almost went with the 22C model, but everyone told me that because of the ports and the resulting flash from them, it made it problematic when shooting in low light situations. They said it was blinding so I decided against it. I have never had the opportunity to fire a compensated model so I can't speak from personal experience.
i would have to agree about the flash in low light, but i bought the compensated for the range. i have the Ruger LCP, and the Glock 27 for personal protection.
when bringing a new shooter out, we try to bring one of everything, beretta, sig, xd, glock, 911 etc, etc, and try to get a variety of rounds 9, 40, 45, 380 ,etc.
Like you said keep an open mind until you have shot just about everything.
For me the m-9 is the gun for me, it fits my hand its comfortable, and no one wants to be within 50yards of me with it.
But for most of my friends I advise the xd to start
In all my life I have NEVER had to fire any type of fire arm under water. A nice feature for Sponge Bob Square Pants.

Ive been told by many people that the XD 45 Compact tactical is more accurate and has more velocity than the glock 45 acp weapons
What is your opinion about that?

They are nice pistols in my opinion a nice range Gun. I would rather carry a glock 23 than a 226 for everyday carry. They honestly dont have anything over a glock thats worth the more money. I wouldnt pay a thousand dollars for one.

I can remember the days of resisting the Glock, "that plastic gun". Now, you'll have a hard time convincing people to take the 1911 or the Springfield XDM over the Glock. For 30 years my EDC of choice was the 1911 .45 ACP; just recently upgraded to the Springfield XDm.45 ACP.

one of your older videos, but an instant classic. "us everyday guys won't be shooting from underwater" hey someone had to tell'em
lizardwop82 7 months ago

ElDub50 8 months ago
I agree with just about everything you said. its all about what feels good to shoot and if you can hit your target. Glocks, HK's, Sig's, Springfields and 1911's are all great guns. there are only a couple complanys I cant stand their semi autos, Hi Point, Kel-tec, Ruger. cant stand them but its all personal preference for me, if the guns were total crap they wouldent make them cause no one would buy them. good video.
Venomxjjb 8 months ago
granted everyone has a personal prefernce. Glocks can shoot underwater, without special springs, without special ammo, without special considerations. rounds on target is what counts. this guys is a glock hater!
351est 9 months ago

That's just my take on it.
haljordan2010 10 months ago
i only like glocks and sigs. sig has a little longer trigger travel but it just takes time to get use to. i can make one hole groupings with both. i dont like xds cause of the 6 oclock point of aim. i hate that.

Great video, I like your educated point of view. I get tired of " Glocks rule, others suck," kind of ideas. There would not be as many different types of guns if Glock was the anwer to the world's problems. Even though I love Glocks, I can't say that they are the best, because everyone is different.

Angelsweep 1 year ago
I agree with what was said. I own a Glock 9mm and an XD .45cal and I love them both. It all comes down to what is comfortable in your hand when you shoot and personal taste. I am proud to own and shoot both.
JJorgensonMV 1 year ago
I think these days the reason Glock is the police handgun of choice is simply based on price. Glocks are really nice for the price they cost. As far as weight of a pistol goes I want a lightweight for a 9mm. As far as a 40 S&W goes I'll take a heavy SIG. In both cases I want a handgun that fits my hand as nicely as possible. I think the fit of a gun is the most important factor. If a gun does not fit you. Your not going to shoot it well. Great video, and I absolutely agree with you.
Afrikaaner11 1 year ago
In my opinion XDs are junk. XDm's are much better but nothing compared to a Glock. I'd take an M&P over a Glock anyday !
isisncasey 1 year ago
I'm a biased Glock person. When people talk about guns being better than the Glock, I will listen for the magic phrase "...the Springfield is designed off of the Glock" then I answer "well that means that the Glock must be good gun then if the Springfield is designed based on it."
As long as you're comfortable with your choice of gun, and it works for you, that's all that matters; if you aim a slingshot at my head I will be fearful, so ANY gun pointed at me is capable of killing me.
gus2000tfs 1 year ago
I've own a Springfield TRP 1911, an XD9, and a Glock 17. They're all good guns. The 1911 is of course my favorite. The XD and Glock both have pros and cons that make them about equal in my book. It's all about what feels more natural in your hand at that point.
Trigger pull-XD
Trigger Reset-Glock
Ergonomics-XD
Lower Bore Axis-Glock
Ease of use-Draw
Dependability-Draw

Steve, could you give me your opinion;
I'm set on a .45 ACP for general concealed carry. As far as recreation, nothing more than a typical day an average indoor or outdoor range.
I liked the glock a lot because of the thicket grip and having more to hold onto, but what would you suggest for my needs?

Over the years I have owned more firearms than I care to name at this time. I can tell you this, I have M9, which I was accurate with however hated the way they felt in my hands. I have also owned and shot the Sig 228 and loved the gun, felt ok in my hands and could hit the bullseye about 6 out of 10 times. but I always felt like I was reaching into no mans land with that trigger. When i picked up the XD .40 Tactical I felt like this was for me, it felt right. Now if i could see how it shoots.

THarrisson 6 months ago
@THarrisson do not TRULY have a safety, however I feel that the argument that my trigger finger is the safety holds true if you are a ever evolving shooter (a person who goes to the range and attends [REGULARLY] firearm courses this is valid) If you are not an evolving shooter I feel that safety are a must and/or a DA only weapon works well. An m&p is a nice hybrid (one with a mag disconnect) I feel that the m&p's with this feature are great for anyone who has to go open carry. If a person..
THarrisson 6 months ago
@THarrisson attacks you and goes for your gun, hopefully you can get the mag out. Even if there is a round in the chamber it CANNOT fire without the mag. HOWEVER I feel that this is rather useless for a CCW carrier. CCW is ALL ABOUT DEFENSE, ergo you will most likely ALWAYS be behind the power curve. If you are CCW I feel that the simplest (caveman tactics) weapons are best for you. If you are a cop (WHO HAVE TO OPEN CARRY) I feel that external safeties and a magazine release is probably...
THarrisson 6 months ago
@THarrisson the best option for you (safety wise), as you are not as likely to always be behind the power curve. Simplest weapons = glocks...I guess you can say its a great beginner gun, but as far as wanting to learn; TRULY LEARN, about weapons a 1911 with an external and grip safety or a sig with a decocker is probably a great way to learn some more about the more complicated intricacies of handgun defense. but hey wtf do I know right?

glock is so popular because its overrated and has had a lot of media exposure and myths surrounding it.
now I said overrated, not POS.

Its a personal preference on which gun is better. I think the Sig Sauer has a better trigger pull and is much smoother than a glock but a glock is not as heavy and the glock is a da trigger. Sig is smoother and more accurate but for the price the glock is a more affordable gun.

You need to check your local laws to see what applies to you and your area. There is a big difference often in open carry, concealed carry and if a round is chambers and if the firearm is cocked or not.
Again check local laws to answer this question.

Springr1911 1 year ago
@Springr1911 It does seem as if the XD is an improved Glock, if nothing else, safety features.
I can't really comment on XDs however because I have never shot one. Although it doesn't surprise me that open minded glock owners would switch over to an XD.
I can comment on 1911s however, and I love'em. Congrats on your peace brother.

I shot a Glock 17 years ago and kept getting failures, which puzzled me since that went against its reputation. Maybe that was because i wasn't handling the recoil well enough thus giving the spring too much slack.

I have the glock 21 but I am also going to the glock 36 for carry.
Every gun you listed I would carry there is nothing wrong with the sig or the springfield.

XD, Glock, FNP I like them all.

Might I suggest you try the newer Glock 22 RTF. I prefer it over the standard 3rd generation.

But for most users this isn't really something that should be taken into concideration when choose a firearm.

i like them all.

GLOCKSTEROC 2 years ago
Well sir, I made a video shooting my GLOCL27 fully stock with hollow point's under water to prove that glock will shoot stock under water and that's not a 9mm it's a 40 S&W caliber no merit time cupling's..I attached to your vid in responce.

Definitely GLOCK
vikingjustice15 2 years ago
hey Steve you have remember when Glock came out alot of people scoffed at the gun as being a "Plastic " gun. and thought that a pistol had to be metal. as far as recoil the slide spring can change the recoil of a lighter gun. also in the shooting clubs SSR class the Glock 17 and 34 are the guns of choice. now I shoot a Ruger SR9 which competes well. I prefer less weight I have no problems with accuracy. ps. springfieid is a geat gun so are S&W M&P Sigs but Taurus? LOL!

My neighbor came yelling and screaming at me a couple days ago asking me if I have read the article about the new tax law for 2010.
Apparently they wont you to list all your firearms in your 2010 income tax statement and they will charge you $ 500,- per gun???
He promised to print it out for me, so I will tell you more when I get it.
Has anybody else read that article?
kultbagusa 2 years ago
i have not.. could you direct me to the article or web site?
diggy485 2 years ago
I called him and he said he printed it out for me. He is an old guy and could not tell me the exact web address over the phone. So I'll pick it up tomorrow morning and let you know right here on safe arms channel.

I do have a link here but somehow it won't let me post it!

TheFreedomWatch 2 years ago
i seen that story some where before, but i was thinking that there was something else to it other than it just going BOOM.. wasn't it from a squib fire?
diggy485 2 years ago
i like the springfield xd. it has a much easier trigger pull, better safety than glock. glock has no safety, too dangersou. and springfield has less recoil because it's a few ounces more than the light glock. the only thing i dont like about the springfield xd is the slide has too many edges which hurts my hand when i rack the slide.
mrzack888 2 years ago
uhh do you own a glock? have you ever shot a glock? the glock has 3 safeties the trigger being 1st then 2 internal safety as well ????
GLOCKSTEROC 2 years ago
yeah i own a glock 17. i don't count the trigger safety as true safety and internal safety is only for if you drop it. glock seems cheap. people like it cuz it doesn't break. that's the only good thing about it. i shoot better with a springfield. more accurate.
mrzack888 2 years ago
the only safety you need is between your ears. the glock is striker fired pistol. you use your "safety" to choose what kind of gun you need.

Great video. always like watching your commentary videos along with your shooting/review videos. Keep an eye out for police or security company trade ins. Mostly they're only used for qualifications and have holster wear but still in great shape. Also if the Gen4 comes out it might drop the price too.
dakine425 2 years ago
Well very true! Nice point's...

You ever pick up uncharted 2 btw?
CleanHappyGlock 2 years ago
me too, i have the 22C, and a baby desert eagle, which is a lot like the CZ.. or the Jericho. i also have a Glock 27 which i just got on trade from my FN .357sig. i also have a Ruger LCP.. that is a fun little gun
diggy485 2 years ago
thats a damn sexy list.

i thank you Sir.. i am still looking for a really nice 1911. i am looking at a Springfield, and a Kimber, i am just waiting for that GOOD deal..
diggy485 2 years ago
You should look into the S&W M&P pistols. I have 2 and love mine.
smttysmth02gt 2 years ago
when i FIRST took my glock 21 sf to the range, i was missing the target... completely at some points. but a little study, dry fire practice (this was key to me) and i realize if you point your arms straight, and leveled with your eyes, with out really looking at the sight... you are generally on target, try at home with an empty gun and point at random things, then try to do it with your eyes closed, good practice.

I am glad you addressed the weight issue. I have a Glock 22 and I love it, but if I had to change one thing it would be the weight. It took me a while to get used to the massive recoil. It does affect your ability to stay on target during multiple shots and takes a lot of practice to adjust to it.
Maynardsat 2 years ago
i noticed a lot if difference in recoil with the Glock 22C.. over the 22. my friend has the non-compensated model and we fired them both one day back to back, and i noticed a big difference
diggy485 2 years ago
I almost went with the 22C model, but everyone told me that because of the ports and the resulting flash from them, it made it problematic when shooting in low light situations. They said it was blinding so I decided against it. I have never had the opportunity to fire a compensated model so I can't speak from personal experience.
Maynardsat 2 years ago
i would have to agree about the flash in low light, but i bought the compensated for the range. i have the Ruger LCP, and the Glock 27 for personal protection.

when bringing a new shooter out, we try to bring one of everything, beretta, sig, xd, glock, 911 etc, etc, and try to get a variety of rounds 9, 40, 45, 380 ,etc.
Like you said keep an open mind until you have shot just about everything.
For me the m-9 is the gun for me, it fits my hand its comfortable, and no one wants to be within 50yards of me with it.
But for most of my friends I advise the xd to start
d3adp001 2 years ago
Thats one thing I recommend, to go and shoot different type of guns to find what fits.
