Excellent report and frighteningly true. Our loved ones need us to advocate for them. They are simply a dollar figure when it hits the courts. People who are convinced by social workers and legal advisors to seek guardianship proceedings need to become informed. Their loved one is only one bad judge away from isolation and death. There is no accountability and the estates are diminished to nothing by the time the ward dies. It is so sad to watch someones dreams be destroyed.

Guardianship abuse is a nightmare for familys; instead of helping familys, the Probate and Family court Judges are court appointing their 'crony' attorneys for Guardianships over vulnerable people with assets to bill out their exhorbitant fees by dragging out these cases in court

This is an amazing tale of elder abuse, how can our government tolerate the treatment of seniors, where is AARP and why isn't the legal system set up to protect the weakest, instead letting these legal predators steal the life savings of seniors at a rate that would embarass Bernie Madoff?
The Guardianship laws are set up for Victorian days. Even if the Court appoints a family member, that person can be replaced by the Court at will.

With court approval Wards are treated worse than convicted prisoners.

Annie McKenna said it best: guardianship is like quicksand.
We have to educate people and help them keep from falling prey.
