One of the hardest pieces ever composed. It's amazingly fast! Still impressed with Berezovsky playing... The best interpretation of the whole transcendental etudes in my opinion.
@kotndarkswords Maybe the photographers deemed the average mortal audience would be unable to safely view such awesomeness without long and frequent breaks.
a funny story: I sent this video to one friend of mine, who does not happen to be well-acquainted with a classical music repertoire, so, naturally, he did not know this piece. His response was - man, this video must have been speeded up for his hands to move like this. I found it hilarious and ignorant at the same time.
i think that the "climaxs" of the etude, he doesnt focus them that much, but the rest of the piece is very good played, i like berezovsky's performance since.. uff.. long ago xD
Wow... That is certainly the best Feux Follets I've ever seen! Thank you Celach. By the way you have a typo in the description, you've accidentally hit an 'i' so it reads 'Feux Fillets' which sounds like a lovely fish dish.
@curzmg the beginnin he played cleaner he be played cleaner on an older recording. and: listen to the one of ashkenazy... the real absolutely amazing thing is that he played all 12 on the same concert without leaving his chair.
This is HARD TO PLAY!!! From 0:42 you need a freaking good right hand with PERFECT fingers as well as a well balanced left arm that knows how to jump. Berezovsky must be a MAGICIAN to pull off the technique involved at 2:00 at that accuracy and tempo....INSANE!
That's precisely the point... two tremolos on one hand.... and don't forget that some notes have to be heard as well (3rd notes besides the two tremolos on the same hand) which makes the whole process hellish!
Right hand part is so fucking difficult.

Such incredible light touch... Most other interpreters play it straight like a Czerny etude when it should be really light and dainty...

From the top view, it looks like the right hand is spasming.

This is a extremely diffcult etude.. and Mr. Berezovsky show us that this is playable with the right technique. Well done!!

as you can see between 1:54 to 1:57, it is complete played under UNA CORDA pedal. That is, why it sounds so beautiful, but in pianissimo.

Better than Cziffra and Richter, U r right, but not the best. Lazar Berman! If you want I can send his record to You.
But Berezovsky is Godlike!

Funny Berezovsky Moments
1) At 0:04 he gets ready for a photo shoot, looks in the wrong camera and doesn't smile
2) At 0:42 he starts to dance but remembers that he's still playing
3) At 0:48 he's jumping in super speed--- SUPERMAN!
4) At 2:29 he closes his eyes and prays for about 0.5 seconds!
5) finally, at 2:40, he thinks someone from the audience called his name... and he takes a look!

It's pretty much two tremolos in one hand, also changing to produce a melody.
