Heatarmor: I admire ur dedication and passion.. The Tanks and the battlefield is just awesome.. keep posting more videos.. a fan from far away.. cheers
@jacksonboywonder1996 Yes, absolutely. We are big-time tank nerds. Most of us are in our 30's and 40's, and grew up building model tanks alone in our basements! It's only since they invented laser tag combat that we discovered other guys with the same hobby. We are like kids!...with very expensive toys! Each tank system costs about $1,000.00.
Yes, we are nerds...much like the Trekkies I hang out with at Star Trek conventions. But it keeps us young...right Boy Wonder?!
@ajcdturner It has been 7 years so far, and the battlefield is still not finished. But it was ready to use after only a few months of hard work by volunteers and museum staff.
I just have to ask this! Where do you think i can get a RC Tank, and do you have to clean the tracks or behinde the wheels that turn the tracks? I saw some other video were a guy was running his in the grass and there was grass behinde the wheels.
The tracks and wheels tend to be self-cleaning. I have had all kinds of dirt and stones stuck in my tracks and it usually just falls out. Besides, a little dirt on tank tracks makes them look more realistic.
We buy our R/C tanks from the AAF Tank Museum in Danville, Virginia. They have the best price and ship anywhere.
Thanks, yes all the guys are terrific! Everyone is very helpful to "newbies" and there's a friendly level of competition. We have lots more videos to post yet, but please try to visit Danville one day. The schedule of battles is always posted on the AAF Tank Museum website under "Events". Thanks!
Thanks. Yes, we truly appreciate what we have at Danville. Doug and the AAF Museum staff are very nice to commit so much space and expense for our hobby. The battlefield was begun in 2003 and may never be finished. Volunteers add new stuff all the time.
Every R/C tanker should try to visit at least once. All the guys are very helpful and even loan a tank to a traveler. Thanks again, Dana
Thanks, we're all proud of the indoor battlefield.
Doug's Panzer III is RCACN compliant & speed tested before every event. So it runs at or below historical WWII speed. It may appear fast here because: 1) It's running on solid roadbed while Tiger is in dirt; 2) It has no hits while Tiger suffers speed reduction from 5+ hits; 3) Tiger has lost one track. I agree that in some cases the Panzer appears rather zippy, yes, but keep in mind this is laser tag gameplay not IPMS. Thanks again, Dana
Yep i appretiate those factors, although i must admit i didnt explain myself well, i meant more that it stops starts and changes direction way to fast, but the full speed may be correct but the alleleration! :D
When our UK club gets an opportunity to we will build a battleground and we can only hope it will meet the outstanding quality of yours!
p.s. our club is the 1/16 IR Armoured division! :D
Yes, he changes direction instantly & shoots on the run. That's more an aspect of intense laser tag gaming than trying to re-enact a scale battle. We tend to ignore the faults in the Tamiya electronics until they can invent a more realistic system. In fact, we often chat about how a new Tamiya unit should be programed with "clutches & gears" so the speeds "ramp up" and slow down naturally. As it stands now, the stock Tamya Tiger can go about 30 miles an hour in reverse!...instantly! Doh! -Dana
can you be able to slow down the tanks cuz it isnt really cool how fast they are going compare the Tiger tanks in real life.....
but other than that its pretty awesome

@kasonthedude They shoot invisible Infra-Red light. Similar to a TV remote.

you should have suspended platforms for the drivers to see beter
maxman1244 1 year ago
@maxman1244 We have discussed that over the years. A catwalk to the middle of the field would make it easier to attack someone on the other side.
However, most guys like to kneel down at ground level to see the battle from the "tank commander's" point of view.
