Did you watch the video? It is because the Xbox 360 has security logistics that will only let you play the game (RB/GH) using an authorized xbox controller. Hence why he "ghosts" RB drums with MIDI drums.
See, what I love about this is... The incorporation of two passions.. Most people drop one thing to concentrate on another. But, you can combine your drumming with the love of technology, and get the rewards of both. It's pretty aw inspiring man. And the red ring only appears on Xbox's now if they are way overheated or the is a improbable software or hardware problem. They fixed that a while ago.

I made some nice electronic drum pads for an Alesis DM5 and I have v-drums now so I don't use them any longer. Do the Rockband or Guitar Hero drums use Piezo buzzers as well for the sensors? Would it be possible to wire my pads to the controller instead of the ones that come on with the game and not have to worry about using MIDI? Would I just need to make sure that the voltage generated from my pads match that of the game's pads?

There's no mod to his midi drum controller, but it is far superior to the game's crappy set in every way. The MIDI controller was designed for professional use. If you can modify the toy drums to allow use of a real drum controller (that also has much better stick rebound), do it! The expensive drum controller doesn't get modded in any way. It only has a MIDI cable connecting it to the computer and that is where the hacking begins. }:^[>

I don't own any of the games, but I've played the Rockband drums in stores and I'm blown away by how horrible the playing surfaces are. It's like hitting a Tupperware lid that's floating on water. There's absolutely no rebound at all. The slightest effort in research and development would have taught them to build better pads that would stand up to the assault of compulsive stick-breakers. But maybe they were designed to help limit a player's speed so the game can keep up.
And playing on a surface without any rebound, such as a pillow, is a great way to practice because it forces you to do all of the work and it builds your chops. Chops, man!

I want to play Guitar hero 3 with my World tour drums. I have a MIDI > USB cable, I've tested plugging it in to the computer, it's working but I can't have it as a gaming device so I can't change the buttons in the drums to keyboard pushes with Joy2Key so I can use it for GH3. So I thought, maybe If I use your program to make it work. I also have GH for 360 that I use a lot. Thankshhh

the difference between the two things in how they work is just that the rock band guitar has seperate buttons that you can use for solos withous strumming and it also has a slightly different strumming mechanism
SMGPlayer: the new guitar hero guitar has a longer strum bar, a star power button, 2 start buttons, and a slide bar used for tapping notes in the game and also for the "wah" effect that guitars have using the wah pedal. but they changed it to the slide bar instead.
o the drum set? since i have guitar hero world tour the guitar hero drum set has 3 main drums and 2 cymbals.. i just got it yesterday so i dont know what else to expect of it but all i can say is the bass pedal sucks for guitar hero world tour.
hey thok78... i thought the peddle sucked as well... it for one sticks sometimes.. cuz i hold it down then lift n back down to hit the notes.. so it gets stuck from sitting down so long... and its way to sensitive... it plays evertime u lift up AND push down... n sometimes two or three notes... i found just putting a sheet of paper between the top n bottom half of the actual button part of the peddle fixed it up pretty decently..
Posted before, maybe link to vid keeps it from working.. either way, just click to check out my vids, figured egyokeo would get a kick out of me playing rockband/GHWT using my iphone as the drum controller. I won't miss soldering these hacks together for people now that GHWT has cinched it all up for us.
Guitar hero world tour drums has a midi-in port basicly making this mod obsolete since it also works with rock band, but doubtful they would have bothered with the midi in port if hackers like egyokeo didn't prove the demand for it.

rockband guitar is easier... A LOT EASIER
the difference between the two things in how they work is just that the rock band guitar has seperate buttons that you can use for solos withous strumming and it also has a slightly different strumming mechanism

SMGPlayer: the new guitar hero guitar has a longer strum bar, a star power button, 2 start buttons, and a slide bar used for tapping notes in the game and also for the "wah" effect that guitars have using the wah pedal. but they changed it to the slide bar instead.

Thanks, but I meant it terms of making a Guitar Hero and Rock Band Guitar settings for the drum set. What would the difference be on a drum set?

o the drum set? since i have guitar hero world tour the guitar hero drum set has 3 main drums and 2 cymbals.. i just got it yesterday so i dont know what else to expect of it but all i can say is the bass pedal sucks for guitar hero world tour.

hey thok78... i thought the peddle sucked as well... it for one sticks sometimes.. cuz i hold it down then lift n back down to hit the notes.. so it gets stuck from sitting down so long... and its way to sensitive... it plays evertime u lift up AND push down... n sometimes two or three notes... i found just putting a sheet of paper between the top n bottom half of the actual button part of the peddle fixed it up pretty decently..

and the pedal bounces sometimes too
so it counts as double bass notes...
which sucks
so i have to go tip toe sometimes XD

Posted before, maybe link to vid keeps it from working.. either way, just click to check out my vids, figured egyokeo would get a kick out of me playing rockband/GHWT using my iphone as the drum controller. I won't miss soldering these hacks together for people now that GHWT has cinched it all up for us.

Guitar hero world tour drums has a midi-in port basicly making this mod obsolete since it also works with rock band, but doubtful they would have bothered with the midi in port if hackers like egyokeo didn't prove the demand for it.
