I listen to this and think of all the wonder that was Germany BEFORE Hitler.
My grandparents came over directly from the Fatherland before my father was born, and I remember many wonderful songs, zither, yodel, black forest choral, and marching bands, that had nothing to do with Hitler's sad moment in history.

I love how this piece is used in The Last Crusade. As a matter of fact, its the reason I'm here in the first place. It's one of the best scenes of the film. Especially when Hitler signs the diary. :)

@slayerfromabove The Likud Jews didn't even exist in an organized form until the 70s. It was the Arab High Committee that started it when they rejected the UN partition plan for Palestine and Israel.
And when you're attacked, and you have the distinct upper hand against an enemy, you don't quit while you're ahead. Almost every defensive war was fought that way. The US Civil War, WW1, WW2, the list goes on.
Borders expand when someone is winning a war. The victors go the spoils.

@slayerfromabove Not quite true. The British Mandate also extended out to Jews, promising them Israel, but the Muslims factions didn't want that. Again, Britain was the one who gave Israel to the Jews. Jerusalem was supposed to be split between the two, as an international city, but the Palestinians began attacking Jerusalem with little provocation.

That aside, when Israel and Palestine were separated, it was only mere days later that the Palestinians began attacking the Jews in Jerusalem without any provocation. You could blame the British government perhaps, but it was their land and they did with it what they thought best, and recognized Israeli independence, ceding control to both Palestine and Israel.

@slayerfromabove When the Israeli fight back against the Palestinians, who are suicide bombing them and using child soldiers, the Israeli are hated for it.
I have sympathy for them. They went through a lot and are fighting for their very existence, because you know if they get conquered, the Muslims are gonna execute every single one who doesn't immediately convert. They're not nice people.

I don't like the attitude so many people take towards them. Three million Jews went fleeing across the desert from all sorts of Muslim nations, because they were being oppressed there. Thousands were killed on the way, and when they arrive, the natives declare war on them six times.

Be mad at Hitler all you want, but don't deny the benefits of the war. Hitler pulled Germany out of a major depression. The war pulled America out of one of the biggest depressions ever as well. As a result of the war, jet engines, parachutes, synthetic rubber, antibiotics and radar/sonar were invented. Also, Hitler proved just how bad racism could be and had a hand in ending major segregation. Finally, overpopulation is a serious problem. He did what noone else would and it helped.

@elmabullaz You fucking dipshit. Germany didn't start WW1. It was Bosnian terrorists working independent of the Bosnian government. They killed the leader of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The Empire blamed the Bosnian state (perfectly reasonable given the tensions between the two), however, and declared war on them. Germany joined up with the Empire, and the allies came to the aid of the official aggressor, Bosnia.
