No, this is fiction.

He also was not cared for or visitied by Salieri while he was dying. Salieri did not commission the Reqieum not did he help Mozart complete it. The film is really a mix of some correct biographical events and a lot of entertaining fiction. The film is really beautiful with regard to the sets and honors his music very well. Foreman shot some of the performance scenes in a theatre where Mozart actually performed.
