RPGs are the best games, that's why it's so hard to compare them.
It's hard not to be romantic about this game. So many people grew up playing these games and at the time it seemed like just an innocent past time. Now it's become so much more. I miss these good old games.

It's been a long way coming, but it's nice to know that the gap left in my childhood has finally been filled in. It's been a great experience so far.
@rsuriyop Sorry, but the PSX version has horrible load times compared to the original. I just bought it on PSN and five secs for menu? Get it on an emulator or the DS. Much better. At least you payed, like me :)

@Happytreefriendsfan3 Never said anything about comparing them. In Definite Terms, Skyrim wins, but in Relative terms, There's no doubt Chrono Trigger takes the cake, with Chrono Cross being the cherry on top.

@Happytreefriendsfan3 Its not the release date, its just both games have entirely different styles. Skyrim's focus is on this massive world that have multiple major storylines within and more of a focus on how exactly you want to approach it. Chrono Trigger has more of an illusion of choice and freedom. Theres numerous small things you do that effect the story outcome , but its a bit more of a linear path, not that its bad but its not really fair in that regard to compare the 2 IMO at least.
@Warbot40 Well you have to give CT credit. They were innovative to build in alternate endings that you can change using the time machine. Think there's 24 endings. And for a game so old, it was like magic back then, for customers and programmers.

The developers did a spectacular job overcoming technical limitations and (to an extent) the lack of real knowledge on how gamers would react to certain design choices and managed to deliver a great fictional experience. This is a great game that deserves the recognition it gets.
@Warbot40 It should honestly get even more recognition than it gets. This game will be looked at in a similar way that the Mona Lisa is looked at today at one point in the future. And I say that in full confidence.

Honest to God... I just started playing Chrono Trigger today. I fell in love with this song as soon as I heard it. The second I turned off the SNES, I had to find out what it was. I have a feeling I'm going to be in for an awesome adventure with this one. The music and the battle system already have me hooked. <3
YeS, you are right about that! Chrono Trigger is a great, great game which keeps you excited from the beginning to the very end. I started the game about a month ago, and I can tell you, it is a very nice experience! However, I like Peaceful Days (1000 ad) more than this song. That song gonna be in my new top 10 soon...

It stand still as my favorite game soundtrack, and its incredible, Two other snes rpgs you may like after this which I'd highly recommend are Final Fantasy VI and IV, if you can get IV on PSP, even better.
this game was such a mind fuck, it was so interesting watching how all of history led up to the moment you started in, this song really made 600 A.D. feel like 600A.D.

@midarkmind oh, well seems a little strange to put them up against each other, but I would have to go with frog simply because I like chrono trigger a lot more. Assuming frog counts as a "boss" which would nullify any geno whirl attempts.

@megaemad It's part of the concept art. If you look at just about any of them, even some times the animated scenes from the PSX version, the magic, and some of the scenes don't match up to what actually happens in game.

I'm going to buy this game, even if i live in the PAL region. It's going to be pretty expensive tho, 80$ for the game and 40$for the ntsc-pal converter. It's way worth it tho, but damn, you guys in the US are so lucky. And you aren't nerfed like us europeans with 17% slower games :/

I don't really agree. I'm not really fond of the newer consoles, i still grew up with a nes, since my family was not into buying a console for me at the time so i used my brothers nes.

There are many games that are perfect. Ocarina of time, Final fantasy 6, or super mario bros 3. However, none of those games don't even come close to this game.

The first phrase sounds like it is comprised of various string instruments being plucked (rather than bowed).
The second phrase is the same group of instruments (minus the lowest voice), but this time they are bowed rather than plucked.
There are various percussion embellishments throughout. Woodblock, tambourine, and suspended cymbal.

I'm going to buy this game, even if i live in the PAL region. It's going to be pretty expensive tho, 80$ for the game and 40$for the ntsc-pal converter. It's way worth it tho, but damn, you guys in the US are so lucky. And you aren't nerfed like us europeans with 17% slower games :/

@chubbiercherub Hmm. How about a Nintendo DS? It's a console, and it's handheld at that. For instance I played FFVII on the PSP & it was actually really handy, being portable n' all.
Well if you want to recapture the game on a SNES for pure nostalgia then good luck, since you've never actually played the game on an actual SNES, right? Then again a DS may cost about as much as what you require. Hope you find what you are looking for.

I don't really agree. I'm not really fond of the newer consoles, i still grew up with a nes, since my family was not into buying a console for me at the time so i used my brothers nes.
I supose you have a point, i guess it's unnecessary, but i just really, really love that game. It's actually my favorite game of all time and i feel kinda cheap downloading it. I also played Chrono Trigger on emulator when i was pretty young, so i guess there's some nostaliga in there too.

There are many games that are perfect. Ocarina of time, Final fantasy 6, or super mario bros 3. However, none of those games don't even come close to this game.

I could literally listen to this song all day. I hadn't heard this song in over 10 years since I last played this game. It brought back a flood of wonderful memories.
