  • otherwise good video

  • ok two problems the breakfast club was not shot in bolingbrook it was shot in des planes. secondly the old BHS was turned into bernard j ward middle school and a new 4 million dollar facility was built on the corner of schmidt and lily chache. i used to go there.

  • Its from the breakfast club, isnt it?

  • Chrisclemens: It was 2005!!!

  • great . thanks gacias

  • wow mollys boobs got huge 2:04-2:07 i guess she hadn't hit puberty when she made those movies.

  • lol this is fucking bad mainstream college shit...!!!

  • @chrisclemens this is from the 2006 mtv ma's not 2003

  • If I do ever have kids then I want my grandchildren to play me this song and watch this film with me before I die, then I'll die a happy man. I cant imagine not leaving this world without this film coming with me.

  • Good ass movie..Good ass original song...Good ass cover.

  • Ally Sheedy looks amazing!!!

  • I find that yellowcard doing this cover fit perfectly, loved everything about it, powerful and emotional

  • Ryan Key is the man.

  • i'm sorry to say this was not from the vma's but instead the 2003 mtv movie awards

  • @bmsquared It was the 2005 MTV Movie awards. It was celebrating the movie's 20th anniversary.

  • Comment removed

  • This was the MTV Movie Awards, to clear up the question mark in the description, hehe

  • @horrorshowsneety Ha, yes, thank you. That was the one piece of information I left out. I meant awarded the Silver Bucket of Excellence Award, not rewarded.

  • To the poster of this video, since there's a question mark in the description. This show/performance was actually taped on May 28, 2005, and aired on June 9, 2005. It was rewarded the Silver Bucket of Excellence Award in honor of its 20th anniversary.

  • R.I.P John Hughes and Paul Gleason

  • they sound just great! And the violin truly adds strength

  • Nice arrangement, too bad the singer can't sing.

  • awesome movie, awesome song :)

  • We mss you John Hughes.

  • @TheAftermathWorld Weeeeeeeeell, it was upbeat more to express the anger and frustration of being ignored and cast aside

  • the original version of the song by simple minds is trillion million billion squid times better.

  • Comment removed

  • man the 80's style was whack but the music was great. Today the style is great but music sucks.

  • @EarthBeautifull The style today sucks. Are you a moron?

  • @LULULULUWUTAXEROGS no u r/

  • This may be not the best cover but definitely the most unique, its the only cover that has emotion to its core. It wouldn't make sense to play an upbeat song as a tribute to the Breakfast Club because then those born after the Breakfast Club wouldn't take the movie seriously. It's good to see Simple Minds not playing because it shows that this song has come a long way down to modern musicians.

  • 2005

  • the breakfast club will always be my number one film. <3

  • Im so glad Yellowcard did this, otherwise I might not have seen the movie.

  • What the movie?

  • @Xachz The Breakfast Club

  • great movie, great band, and great song, cant get any better?

  • i think this was 2005, 20 years after the movie

  • The violin is out of tune...but this is way too somber and apathetic to me. I love Yellowcard and this song, but they didn't such a good job.

  • wow guys, way to take a great song and make it a complete pile of crap. what to expect from a 3rd rate emo rock band where the guitarist cant play guitar nor look like he got out of bed. thanks again for ruining a perfectly good song...the cast of The Breakfast Club looked like they wanted to find Eminems stash of gats.

  • wow... what an empty, soulless and pathetic cover. The singer cant carry a note, the music is flat and doesnt even SOUND like the original. boring and depressing version of a great song. :(

  • yeah.... remember when we thought the world was a less fucked up place than it actually is? : o]

Keep the hope alive! BONZAI! XD

  • OMG This is fucking AWESOME!!! I Love it!

  • You could argue, on one hand that it is a whiney,boo-hoopiece of WAH-shit,..or that it is the worst example of crap, for ever-and-ever, and you won't find an arguement here

  • 2005 VMAs

  • Rest in peace Paul Gleason

  • Wow! They just f*ckin' killed it for me, this version blows IMO.

  • Did they ever release this on iTunes or CD? It sounds amazing!

  • Was At The MTV Movie Awards 2005, As It Celebrated 20 Years Of The Movie The Breakfast Club (1985) :)

  • I like Yellowcard, but this version blows. Sucked all the life out of the original. Why the hell would you cut out the hook?

  • @leonche64 I COMPLETELY AGREE

  • perfect combination Yellowcard goes 80's!

  • I've always loves this cover. Did they ever do a proper studio recording of this?

  • imo this version is better than the simple minds one

  • think it was mainly the guitar sound and vocals that fucked this up...but its a yellowcard cover so guess this is what u get haha

  • One of the best movies ever made. Yellowcard's version appropriately fits how the clips of the movie were put together.

  • Great cover

  • it was good until they fucked up the chorus

  • @germsterx100 the fucked up most of the song haha...the sound of that guitar does not blend well..but it does sound like their other songs so in that case its a good cover cuz the purpose is to add a dif feel bout the song...thing in a way its more sad...cuz its more like a remember the good days...the simple minds version sounds sad but the more u listen to it it makes u happier

  • @strife725 definitely but i love that breakfast club intro

  • I wish John Hughes directed MY life. Great song. Great movie, John Hughes was brilliant. RIP to a 80's legend <3

  • I saw this at the 2003 VMA's on TV and just remember looking for it today.. I love this moment..

  • Still such a great movie.

  • Breakfast Club to the 80's/90's was like American Graffiti to the 50's/60's !

  • That's not how you act when you're high!

  • i remember seeing this live when it came out and i didn't get it how i do now. amazing.

  • love both song and movie! still classic all slide at 3:30 also :)

  • does anyone know how I can get this song

  • @TheAftermathWorld Classic rock was the start of anything rock. Spawned by the blues, its way better and more creative this these power chord playing fagots of today. There's no emotion in the playing. 80s sucked? I mean come on dude, alot of great shit came out of the 80's(early metal rules). Catchy pop tunes like the one in this vid aside, it was rocks last real breath of creativity. Pearl jam and the peppers are about as deep as I go now-days and they've been around awhile.

  • @teamhex normally I'd say get out of the past, old man. But rather you seem to fail to notice all the crap that was made back then too. Since music has existed there has been bad music, and so it will continue to be made. Believe it or not there is quite a lot of good music coming out nowadays. I suggest checking out more of Yellowcard's work, they're actually a pretty good and diverse band.

  • @TheAftermathWorld Mostly listen to and play Classic rock, the blues, Grunge and various 80's artists. Other then that just your run of the mill classical composers.

Blink WAS decent back in their day, and ill admit I listened a little bit to chevelle in jr high, but still.

"Breaking Benjamin. Chevelle. Blink 182. Steal The Spotlight"

  • @TheAftermathWorld Bahaha because I think yellowcard is a shitty band that did a mediocre cover at best? Keep enjoying those shitty bands bro.

  • This is a shitty version of the song....yellow=shit band. That guitar sounds horrid.

  • This movie is revolutionary. Never before has there been a movie of it's kind, breaking the barriers of society, and never again will their be anything like it. This movie is how high school should be. Finding friends where they're needed the most. I love the breakfast club.

  • i like death cabs cover a lot more

  • @MrCobains1fan they never made a remake of this song what are you talking about

  • @TheClarad001 they did, i left a comment o n your profile with the link to it

  • why couldn't simple minds come back just for this?

  • This is such a great movie.

  • great song, love Yellowcard's version, it makes me sad to know that movies like The Breakfast Club just are not being made anyone, whoever is making teen movies needs to wake up and realize this was, is , and will always be the way to do it.

  • @dunhamproductions thanks for making a genuine comment without destroying it by adding "thumbs up if you agree" at the end lol

  • i love yellowcard, but this sucks

  • Butchered.

  • Bender stoodup for his friends i bet his friends helped him get into street fights and shit

  • As much as I love the original, I do agree that this version would have better suited the film due to it being a show of the angst that they go through.

  • Love!

  • this is terrible. The guy can't even sing...they changed it too much. The song is barely recognizable.

  • RIP JOHN THE BREAKFAST CLUB is my fav of all the John Hughes movies IT HAD SUCH UNITY they were all diffrent but the same it made me wanan cry when they show brian alision and claire about to cry seeing themselves on video JUDD NELSON AND EMILIO Should have fucking been there it makes it look like after that saturday ONLY CLAIRE BRIAN AND ALISON stayed friends

  • i dont think the info with the school is right, as far as i know its a police station now.

  • the Breakfest club is my favorite movie ever

  • You should change de description of the video.

MTV Movie Awards, and it was in 2005 when the movie completed 20 years.

I wanted to see again this event, but there is no other video in youtube now.

  • breakfast club! :D

  • Clarification: This was officially at the 2005 MTV Movie Awards.

  • ...A...A...Amazing :'D

  • I miss Ben Harper being in this band. How they can call themselves Yellowcard in the first place, with him gone, is a shock to me.

  • HOW CAN ANYONE NOT LIKE THIS

  • cool.thx

  • This was performed at the Mtv movie awards.

  • @raulrodri602 how do you not liek D:

  • Hello , i just covered Lights And Sounds (Yellowcard) on my bass guitar , do check it out !!

/watch?v=Y28SK_oL-Pg or visit my channel !!

  • In my High School there is really no social cliques but it still manages to be just like the breakfast club because it seems to be cool to have people you don`t like for no reason and there`s always mayhem when two different group of friends have arguments because the whole school just splits up and take side when it`s not even their arguments

  • Great cover! It had that somber emotional intensity that the original just completley overlooked. Great job!

  • @CaptOsage not sure how you can presume to say that this cover has emotional qualities that the original artists, who wrote it composed it and made it sound the way they wanted to, managed to overlook. you're really trying to say that simple minds didn't capture the essence of their own song correctly; but these posers did ? this is just a limpdick interpretation, don't fool yourself.

  • @anglicky69 I don't know if you actually have ears. But if you listen to the back tune of the original it sounded like an upbeat pop anthem. Now I don't know about you but I thought the movie was so emotionally intense with teen angst, it didn't warrant a pop style theme and this version fit it better. If you don't like my opinion go troll somewhere else. In fact why are you here at all if you hate this version?

  • @CaptOsage i wanted to hear a remake, that's why i was here. instead i heard a level of emo fag crap that didn't yet exist back in the 80's. too bad you think you know what the soundtrack should have sounded like better than the guys that made the movie, picked out the soundtrack, and the artists that wrote those tracks. maybe they wanted that "pop anthem" in the credits so it didn't end as a fucking downer. just because you think you know what it "warrented" doesn't mean you're right.

  • @anglicky69 Like I said, it's my opinion. If you don't like it, the X button is at the top right hand corner of your window.

  • @CaptOsage well it's not so much an opinion as it is just a wrong way of looking at things, or a missinterpretation, on your part. that's all. so if you don't like what i'm saying, you're also more than welcome to skip on to another vid.

  • @anglicky69 He is wrong in your opinion. Theres no true "right" way of looking at things.

  • @CaptOsage It wasnt full of angst. It was a movie about teens recognizing who they really were were. There actually was no 'angst' at all...

  • @EvaDeLaSmiley thank you ! you nailed that part right on. it was pretty straight forward in resolving all of that. another reason why i don't think it warrented that sad puppy B.S. version of this song at the end of the movie.

  • you guys r jerks it was a great tribute to the song its my fav movie and a great great tribute....if it was suppose to sound exactly like the orignal song they have had the same band perform it ........

  • What a shitty cover.

  • @robjin08 the one who they say is wearing tights is a wrestler. And that is what they wear. Its also called a singlet.

  • shittest cover of all time. a disgrace to the song and movie.

  • @Stratchild666 +1 horrible

  • Can somebody please tell me, what the 2 boys are saying about "tights" at 1:30? 'Cause i don't understand what he's saying about uniforms, and my english isn't that good...:P

  • @robijn08 he is on the wrestling team

  • Worst, most anemic, most terrible cover of this song ever. It totally takes the piss out of it.

  • My girl and I were just like Judd Nelson and Molly RIngwold in highschool. It turned out just fine.

  • Ah, Yellowcard and Breakfast Club, what a freakin combo!

  • i wish they had this song on itunes

  • @zzoeful i have an mp3 of this if u want it.?

its clean of viruses and suchh :DD

    just message meee. (:

  • wish they made this cover without the tv show in the background?

  • wow i cant believe i havent watched this yet! i've always love yellowcard but this breakfast club tribute makes me love them even much more ;D <3

  • This was the first time I heard about The Breakfast Club. I watched it the next day. I was 11. It's still my favorite movie :)

  • FAVOURITE MOVIE AND SONG OF ALL TIME

  • I like the overlay of actual movie scenes!

  • @MrNigelPreston You, good sir, are an idiot.

  • i fuckin love yellowcard

  • wow at around 2:00... the actress is beautiful, both then and now.

  • it was that 2005 VMAs

  • @MrNigelPreston So rude & you sound like an idiot! This was the MTV Movie awards & they were celebrating the 20th yr anniversary of this film (The Breakfast Club) which is a CLASSIC! They were covering the hit single off the movie soundtrack! Relax!

  • this version gives the song the sad feeling that i get when i think of the song

  • it doesnt do the song justice.. it needs energy

  • THE MOLD OF MY LIFE

TRUELY THE BREAKFAST CLUB IS THE DEITY IN THE MOTION PICTURE INDUSTRY

  • New Found Glory's cover is better.

  • the greatest movie of all time! Yellowcard does a good job with performing this song, love them!

  • awsome:)

  • This is such a nice song and a great cover. I really like it. Good work yellowcard.(:

  • It's funny how some people on here are saying that Yellowcard sucks, and while yes it is different from the original, that is why it's called a COVER. Why don't you cover this song and do better? Maybe then you can talk your shit.

  • @ycfan1993 Abso-fucking-lutely! i completly agree with you

  • Great Band! Awesome Original Song! Not so good cover...

  • All i will say is this @ 1.47 That is the most deadly accurate statement you will ever hear from a janitor. Trust me.

  • ugh. horrible.

  • rest in Peace, John Hughes.

  • One of the greatest performances ever.

  • favorite movie ever <3

  • Incredible.

  • Molly Ringwald is still hot.

  • best 80s film ever!! and song is fucking awesome!! love yellowcard's version!

  • bbbbbbbssssssssddddd

  • Ally sheedy's such a cutie pie!!!

  • @BeASimpleMan

When you get half of their skills and talent, and good taste 'bout music, you may say something...'till then, just shut up.

  • @BeASimpleMan Haha! You speak so well for someone who doesn't have the talent to deserve to call them shitty. Just keep to yourself and go listen to some shitty top 40 music.

  • thank man

  • the breakfast club .. its a really good old movie.. if you like this.. you should look up st elmo's fire aswell.
