I disagree. He did succeed. While he did not accept any formal prize he did solve the Poincare conjecture problem; a success and mark of intelligence in it's own. You need proofs to draw conclusions. You need evidence. What better evidence of a person's intellect than that of them solving mathematical mysteries or expanding their field of study?
Again, it's not about the medal. It's about what the medal represents.
@reinadegrillos Success is not the true sign of intelligence, Grigori Pelerman is a russian matematician who refused the fields medal and 1 million dollar prize from the clay institute for having solving the poincaré conjoncture problem (which had to wait 100 years to be solved) that doesn't make of him and unsuccessful prson, neither a dumb! the materialistic way of seeing things is THE dumbs mark..for keen people like Rosner, Pelerman, Fisher.. life is an experiment to be lived
According to the American Psychological Association the current "gold standard" in professional intelligence testing is the Wechsler.I.Q test. The highest I.Q score you can get on the Verbal, Performance, and Full Scale is a 160. Theoretically, only one out of every one million people have an I.Q that high. The person who created the test (Dr. Wechsler) said that a standardized I.Q test cannot differentiate between people who score a130(top 2 %) and any score higher. I.Q tests are bullshit.
In the Wechsler scale an IQ of 160 equals 1 in about 30 000. In the Stanford-Binet scale its about 1 in 11 000.
It's a bit silly to give a person a definite score on once intelligence, but that don't make the whole concept of measuring IQ bullshit. You have to remember IQ is only one facet in the spectrum of intelligence.
I wonder if all these details about city elevations were rolling around in his head while trying to answer the question in the hot seat or if he has simply become an armchair expert after the question was asked, looking for money like a lawyer chasing an ambulance

there's a misconception that genius and high intelligence entails certain personality forms or something resembling the stereotypical "genius". IQ attempts to measure potential more than anything, and there are thousands of "closet geniuses" that never show it, or know how to show it, or have been conditioned to know they can. some demonstrate such high levels of thinking and skip the "norms" of intelligentia and live their life by their own, no less correct, rationalization of existence.
It seems pathological and, well, stupid to let let IQ tests determine your sense of your own intelligence. It typifies a peculiarly quantitative attitude to the intellect that seems to prevail in America, an approach that Einstein would definitely not have endorsed. Probably has its roots in the commodification of the mind, intellectual property, students who see education as an investment - what kind of a soulless approach to existence is that? Generally speaking genius is unquantifiable.
Yes he's overthinking it, but he should've been playing dumb just for this game because the purpose of the game is to stupidly choose the correct answer from the given choices. If someone asked you "Which one of these mountains is the highest one, Chimborazo, Mauna Kea or Mt. Everest?" No explanation, just the name. Would you pick Mt. Everest because it's the one you're most familiar with? Would you pick Mt. Everest because you think that's the obvious answer the interviewer wants to hear?
Just another resource to link genius with extreme mental illness (re: his high school experiences, his bizarre career choices, his personality).
He is correct about the question on Millionaire. I'm no genius but I'd be "overthinking" that question as well. But what he said is correct, none of those answers are valid.
To accurately measure one's general intelligence, IQ in my opinion is still way too specific in even the most well rounded of the better known tests to prove an adequate tool of assessment.
Intelligence is too much of a "fluid" quality to be deterministically measured
with a certain amount of questions that have no more than one correct answer.
Multiple choice or not, the questions themselves are binary and thus very rigid in nature. I would prefer a test based on problematic scenarios
Through watching these videos, I have grown an extreme hate for this man. I cannot explain why, but I suppose it's his annoying appearance and stupid anecdotes.
I'm not impressed. He sounds like an idiot. He's done nothing special except act like a nerd and a wannabe con-artist. What is so special about this guy?
@OriginalMindTrick Nothing special just had a false IQ and boasted about it to the max, because of the fact that it is fake. Check out the great video "smartest person in the world" here on youtube and check the links, people like Rick Rosner and Chris langan are people who practiced at the IQ test or had a false IQ score and then milked it. And it is obvious from this that he is a moron. he wanted to relax in high school? i am not Genius AT ALL still got A in all but one subject without effort.
@OriginalMindTrick Although not of particular relevance, just as Trivia I can tell you tha Stephen H. has once took the IQ test offered by Mensa in Britan. The reason he why he took is that he fell off the stairs once and had a black out and a concussion. He feared that he had lost his a significant portion of his intelligence, so he decided to test himself. He came to his home, according to his sister, happy because he had "passed" the Mensa test.
IQ's are too vague. There's a different intelligence control test now - not exactly sure what it's called, but it includes a far more rounded and challenging series of questions pertaining to everything from physics to audio-processing to spatial reasoning. These are all nice if you like to know your intelligence, but the minute you are told "THIS" is how smart you are, you're limited to that fact. Don't lose sight of the fact that intelligence comes from both books and real-life experience.
Multiple answers is for losers. try to give the answer straight away. That's who I play that game. I put my fingers in my ears and close my eyes, and say it out loud. FTW.
If this guy was even remotely intelligent, he would know that of the four options presented, Quito was the highest, so why didn't he choose that answer? That would be a measure of intelligence.
To be fair, you can't pick a person with a high IQ and say why hasn't he produced on the same scale as Hawking. If you take people with IQ=100, 98% live boring mediocre lives. At IQ=130, maybe that number is 90%. At IQ=190, it's still probably 80%.
Very few can be world-beaters, regardless of IQ. Frankly, intelligence is not even close to being the most important factor in achieving success.
Check the actual data, moron. The correlation between IQ and socio-economic success is about 0.5. Are you one of those people who mistrust IQ because of they have low scores?
I don't like chris langan, he is too negative and too up himself, both these guys are too up themselves... but at least this guy talks about math etc. well, what has this guy done in the world of maths or physics? not enough to get his name heard. To me, people like stephen hawking and the guy who invented M theory are smarter than Rick Rosner, they just don't brag about their iqs, but they say Stephen Hawkings IQ maybe around 270, but Hawking disrespects iq tests
An IQ of 270 is utterly incomprehensible. There would be more distance between someone of 270 IQ than the average person than that of the average person and a rock. 270 IQ is not human. If you had 270 IQ, I think you would commit suicide living amongst people so much more dull than yourself. You would probably do very poorly in society as well because you're being taught assuming your IQ is 100. It would be like asking someone what 2+2 is, and if they are correct, they're a genius
@Zee96969696 hawkins is comprimising his own integrity, morality, and principles in exchange for money as he assists the formation of theories derived from bent facts and nobody has, had, or ever will have an IQ of 270.. With these men, what you see is what you get and truth is more important than social satisfaction
"we would have angry fights, and in the middle of the fights i'd get a big erection, because I knew that at the end of the arguement, we would be having wild, monkey, angry sex."
"Somewhere in there I decided: alright, I'll go back to high school and sit in a desk and think all day." That made me bust out in laughter. Why would discovering a theory of relativity book in Oceanside motivate you to go back to high school?!! This guy is awesome.
There is a link to developing increased spatial thinking and testosterone.
In a documentary about a woman undergoing sex change with hormon therapy there was an experiment about how the male sex hormone would alter the brain and the intelligence profile in a multi performance iq test. Before the testosterone she had strong verbal understanding and not so strong visio spatial thinking, only some month later on the juice "she" where performing a remarkable better result in the visual part.
@OriginalMindTrick Thats very interesting. The reason that males most oftenly have a higher visual spatial abillity has to do with mens abillity of aiming. This goes back to the stoneage when men was out hunting and thus having a more developed visual spatial skill. Or so I heard.
This person is a weirdo, a pervert, a loser, and a poser...with the worst worst hair implants I've ever seen.

Multiple answers is for losers. try to give the answer straight away. That's who I play that game. I put my fingers in my ears and close my eyes, and say it out loud. FTW.

Why didn't he enroll in a community college instead of repeatedly returning to high school? It doesn't make sense to me.

Frankly, intelligence is not even close to being the most important factor in achieving success.

hard work is.

Zee96969696 2 years ago 6
@Zee96969696

@Zee96969696 Stephen hawkings iq was reporter around 140-155 dude.

@Zee96969696 hawkins is comprimising his own integrity, morality, and principles in exchange for money as he assists the formation of theories derived from bent facts and nobody has, had, or ever will have an IQ of 270.. With these men, what you see is what you get and truth is more important than social satisfaction

"we would have angry fights, and in the middle of the fights i'd get a big erection, because I knew that at the end of the arguement, we would be having wild, monkey, angry sex."
a simple quote that proves his genius.

"Somewhere in there I decided: alright, I'll go back to high school and sit in a desk and think all day." That made me bust out in laughter. Why would discovering a theory of relativity book in Oceanside motivate you to go back to high school?!! This guy is awesome.

must be a link to forms of testosterone and inteligence
auburn722 2 years ago
There is a link to developing increased spatial thinking and testosterone.
In a documentary about a woman undergoing sex change with hormon therapy there was an experiment about how the male sex hormone would alter the brain and the intelligence profile in a multi performance iq test. Before the testosterone she had strong verbal understanding and not so strong visio spatial thinking, only some month later on the juice "she" where performing a remarkable better result in the visual part.
OriginalMindTrick 2 years ago 3
doesn't testosterone kill brain cells though?
TNUCARU 2 years ago
@TNUCARU yes it does
tubesha7 2 years ago
true, or you could just do some mental exercises without taking testosterone
Zee96969696 2 years ago
@OriginalMindTrick Thats very interesting. The reason that males most oftenly have a higher visual spatial abillity has to do with mens abillity of aiming. This goes back to the stoneage when men was out hunting and thus having a more developed visual spatial skill. Or so I heard.
