  • i like it and they are easey

  • thank you so much xxx

  • If u put the box in the door, it will ruin the shoes

  • I cant roll up on demi pointe cleanly. Instead of flat>demipointe>pointe, its flat>point! ):

  • thx, another way is to close ur box in da door

  • u sorta sound like Mila Kunis, i know its off topic lol

  • its not wood its plastic card board and a lot of solid glue, your heel is part of your foot, and you didn't cover friction at all

  • now hard to you bend them im afraid to break them!

  • the safer way to break in your box is to use your hands and just keep trying them on till its comfortable

  • Lots of people brak their shoes in the same way.

  • Umm no.

You're actually not supposed to step on ur box because If I break in your shooed too much you can seriously hurt yourself.

Ooh and btw. Lisa Howells did this exact same thing....

  • thats coping someone elses method seriosly u used the same exact ords and ways

  • if i do that all won't i break my pointe shoes i feel like they are going to un glue and rip.please answer me back .

  • thanks for the vid! : )

  • i just got my shoes and am breaking them in thanks for the tips

  • What shoes do you have?

  • I have very arched feet and im scared to break in my pointe shoes! Shoud i try braking the back part of the shoe or the box?!

  • @Missdancer806 If I were u, I'd break only the back part, so It'll be a lot more comfortable (but do it carefully or ask your teacher). You can get gel pads for the box so that your fingers dont hurt after using them

  • thanks so much im a beginner im a little scared to do that but i want to do it the natual way is that ok for a beginner to do.

  • @momozuru Same here, Ive been trtying to bend them but nothings working.

  • @teamjonas123

Don't expect to see any result after 'massaging' them a couple times, my arch starts to be visible doing the first method after 3 months (with dancing on them in class too)

So that does take a while, but i've got a hard shank so if your shank is softer it might go faster then that :)

  • THANKS! 1ST time pointe student and i needed that instruction.

  • Nice gamba pointe shoes...I used to have them before my new gaynor minden!

  • sometimes that will ruin ur pointe shoes...

  • thanx heaps

  • I have those same pointe shoes and the same pads!

  • how do i know if they are broken or not yet ?? dumb question but its my 1st time in pointe :)

  • there is no wood in pointe shoes that wud be pretty uncomfortable

  • Though it's really not good to break the boxes before dancing in them... breaking the sides will get rid of all ankle support. Because I did that, and then almost sprained my ankle dancing in them :) Just a tip.

  • what brand of shoe do u have?

  • what brand of shoes do u have?

  • erm, what if the pointe shoes are really new, and its really hard to break?

  • you should probly break them in more cause your demi is no where near its full potential. but tht depends on your arch. keep it up!

  • when i peel it back the sole thing came off a little bit like yours,is that okay??? cause i just just got them like a couple of days ago.

  • ur pointe shoes look like they are heritage.lol r they?

  • kataloca2002 is right this is lisa howell's method and u use almost the same wording as she did and u have pretty feet

  • 1. Pointe shoes aren't made out of wood.

    2. You got the first way from Lisa Howell's video (even used some of the same wording. haha) :)

    3. Don't break them in with your hands too much(especially the box) , they will die faster. The best way to break them in is to dance in them!

it was a pretty good video!

  • Thank you SO MUCH for making this video! It helped a lot. Will break my new Bloch's in the way you said.

  • thanks so much for posting this video!! i saw another video with some proper lady doing pretty much what you were doing and i couldn't see a single thing she was doing! lol. and i was like 'i hope someone posted a video where you can see what they're doing' and TA DA!! i found your video!! thank you soo much!! i'm sure this will help me a lot :) i'm getting my first pair tomorrow :) thanks again!!

  • omg, your feet look exactly like my feet :D

  • are those bloch?

  • i'm afraid to break mine in because im afraid i'll actually break them! :S is it possible for them so like.. snap?

  • Thanks! Was really useful! but I'm scared of doing it, because I'm afraid I'll kill them -_-

  • oh my god, same!!

  • i have russian pointe and they are really broken in now. thanks

  • that helped me alot

  • what brand r those?

  • I have a question! For the first one, when you fold the back of the shoe inside-out, won't that stretch out the material and make it fit too loose? Will that happen?

  • if you notice that happening, just tighten the drawstring.

ballerina's pull back the material all the time.

  • no, the shoes are made to be stretched to a certain extent, and if they were'nt meant to bend that way they wouldnt :)

  • What shoes do yo have? They're soooo pretty!

  • omg thank you so much!!

  • Thankyou!

  • thanks :) it helped a lot.

  • Thanks. Trying those. Years ago, I used to break them in the 'bad' way. by smashing them in door hinges, wetting the box with water. NOT good ways to do it, but yet it broke them in faster.

  • way two...will the box get softer??

  • Comment removed

  • Great Vid! It helped me a lot! Thanks!

  • good vid....just to make sure you know for future refrence, the box isnt wood, it is burlap and a hard paste that is layered a lot, it is just commonly reffered to as wood because of its hardness and sound...but otherwise, those are some good tips!

  • yeah i'm guessing mine are already broken in so i don't know why i'm watching it

  • This is lisa howell's method!!

  • well actually she doesnt own that method, my ballet teacher thought me that way as well. =]

    xo

  • @AmberMade lol she meant lisa howell developed it. It doesn't mean she has rights or whatever... and thanks for the tutorial I needed to break in my new shoes :)

  • Heey, i have a question, perhaps someone here could help me out. i'm 19 years old and i started ballet in february of this year. and my teacher told me i could start with pointe at the end of this year! do you guys have some pointers on how to strengthen my feet, and improve my arches further? Thanks!

  • well stretching is always good and doing lots of running and ballet is good i did dance 4 years and i'm on pointe now at last and i'm signing up for my 5th year next month and i'm trying to xdo lots of dance and running and things to strengthen my muscles for pointe this october

  • So is it good to hear them crack i am about to buy my fourth pair and i only broke in the third ones and when i broke them in the shank snapped a lot easier

  • This is REALLY going to help me! Thanks ALOT!!

  • awesome video!! thanks so much!! preparing for the inter exam in august and my pointe shoes died so had to get new ones and trying the sansha ovations lol!! thanks so much for the video!!! it helps heaps.

  • it is hard ... i mean the first way... my pointe are new and they are hard so i dont even know....

  • Which one's easier to break, the block ones or the normal plaster-made ones?

  • im sorry i dont know :S

    xo

  • Lol thanks and what's nz?!

  • new zealand =]

  • your videos are great as soon as i watched this i when and did what you said and my pointe shoes felt much better when i put them on!

How long have you been on pointe?!

  • hey thanks, glad i could help =]

not very long at all about 10 months now, but i dance like every day, i am more into lyrical and contemporary but ballet is kewl.

  • i wish i had class everyday :( but no i live in saudi and our dance studio only has class twice a week :S

plus not much stuff availabe for dancers cause dancing isnt big here :( like i cant find a theraband ANYWHERE!!

btw what time is it in the us :O ?!

    it's 3:50 a.m here :S im still packing for a trip tomorrow!

    srry im just bored!!! xD

    Lol

  • Oh i go to like a arts school so yeah dance everyday, but i used to dance like twice or three times a week so dont worry thats still good.

oh and i dont live in the states. i like in nz. so yeah. and its like 1pm here.

    have fun packing lol =]

  • what is the difference between broken ones and the non-broken?

  • broken ones are more comfortable and they look a lot better then non broken in ones. non broken in ones look stff and they dont give you a nice pretty arch of the foot.

  • thx now i know how to break them in!!! im getting my pointe shoes thursday!!

  • thanks so much everybody

  • Thank you...that really helps!

  • i just brought bloch suprima strong and they were quire hard to break in haha

  • i love this video!!!

  • o, and do pointe shoes come in diffrent colors????

  • yeah they do come in diff colors i have a black pair. =]]

  • hello! i really liked your tutorial even tho, im going to soon begin pointe! So, i was wondering, when you said demi-natural, and all, are their any other ways, including your suggestions that you've tried???? If yes, please tell me! If no, im gonna try your ways! This info. was really helpful!!!!!!

  • Briancoleman09,

you can break in your demi with like your hands but unless you have done it about 5 times or more you can really mess up your pointe shoes if you do it wrong. the demi natural is just basically working in your pointe shoes, and the demi breaks in itself.i for you just starting ouy i think you should naturally break it in by wearing them. so glad i helped and good luck on starting!! you will love it =]] if you have more questions just message or comment me =]

  • i just tried this on my pointe shoes, they feel a lot more comfortable but i guess we'll see tonight at class how they really feel! thanks a bunch for the vid :)

  • wait - thats not breakdancing

  • well no, its breaking in pointe shoes. =] lol

  • thanks alot, im starting point soon, cant wait!

  • good luck! =]

  • thanks that like really helps

  • glad to help! =]

  • This was awesome! Thanks!

  • good techniques :)

  • what kind of bloch? seranade?

  • yeah i believe so =]

  • they are about 6 months old, i have danced on them alot in 6 months, so they are not new.

  • but they still look new. they fit your feet

    perfectly, these are beautiful,

    Ambermade, any comments for me?

    from: fsoam

  • yeah i try and keep them in good condition for stuff, but i get new ones all the time cas i wear them out! and thanks =]

  • they dont look new...are they?

  • they are about 7 months old now.

  • but ur arch will look horrible, you dont have to break in the box, but breaking in the arch makes it look good and feel good.

  • I do not take pointe but I know some things like if you do not break pointe shoes in will you be able to stand on pointe for a longwhile

  • that's not "knowing", because it's wrong. if you don't break pointe shoes in, you can't work correctly in them, you can't get on your box well and feel very unstable. pointe shoes have to be prepared before you can work in them properly.

  • i totally agree

  • they are bloch, and i adore them. =]

  • what make r your pointes ?

  • wont steping on the box break it?

  • no theyre pretty strong

but dont step on it too hard just like your heel

  • yeah a lot of people learn the first way, but i got taught more, yay! glad to help! =]

  • the first way looks like how lisa howell said to break in pointe shoes. but my shoes are alot harder to break in- they won't bend like that. the other two ways were really helpful though!:)
