Remember me, Keith??? Well, it's been a long while. Anyway, here's the thing I want to tell you straight from my heart. If I was a queen, I'd buy you and make you my jester for life. Did you think I'd say "marry me?" Gotcha, didn't I? I don't want married men. I'd give your wife and your kid a place to live in my castle so you wouldn't run away. I'm nice.
ahahaha, as a hearing ASL student i have to admit your impression of us is dead on!! it is certainly a hard language to master! however your videos are helping me out with my comprehension so hopefully i can avoid being that person in the future :P
LOL! I collect certificates too...I have a C.C.A.D.H.H., VQAS, Texas BEI, NAD, EIPA 4.5 and a RID NIC Adv...too. Keith's video puts stuff into perspective for me. I feel a lil silly....but honestly, I'm a devoted interpreter for the DEAF community, for sure! Always wanting to improve :)
Okay, I don't want to go through seven pages of comments, but seriously, what's there NOT to like? It was hilarious! Picking on all three levels, yet still saying what he said at the end? It's perfect! People, get over yourselves if you don't see the humor and the truth!
LOLOL ROFL! OMG you are amazing!!! LOLOLOL you always make fun of hearing, it's so great!!! LOLOLOL...oh my lord, no you DIDN'T! geez, you're SO bad - REALLY bad Keith! ;)...
You are a true talent. Your final comment represents an ideal; 3-in-1 combo. Difficult to find. CODAs feel they already have it all. The ASL student never seems to really 'get there'. One either has it or they don't. Informal interaction really seems to be the best way to acquire ASL (the socializing you mentioned).
I have very limited experience with ASL. (I'm not a student, but I know the alphabet and I've taken a few classes with deaf kids.) But I understand "I'M CODA!!"
HEY.....I'm a student and I was laughing so hard I started crying because I actually know some students that sign like that. Not all of them though. :)
@Jcmeekins you wouldn't care if you lost your children?!?!
Yah, ASL is wonderful and you have a gift...being a CODA and knowing SL but wow, you should still love your children? How about you teach them ASL so then they too can help the Deaf? Just a thought...
haha i love this vid, i am a coda, but i work as a translator/ interpretor and see plenty of people learning sign languages such as the student, it reminds me so much of work, and is sooooo true lmao
ouch my stomach hurts, that was so fuuny! Thanks for sheding some light how rediculous I probably seem as a coda sometimes lol offfffffffffffffffffff cooouuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrsssssssssseeeeeeeeeeeee hahaha that was the best!!
That was awesome. I just saw you last week in Cleveland. You signed my practicum paper! All of my fellow Classmates are jealous! HOLLER!!! You are the best! Come back to Cleveland soon!
HAHAHAHA im an asl student and thought this was absolutely hilarious! That is pretty much exactly how i looked/ acted when i first began! You are awesome! HAHAHA
Astral, the thing is he's saying he can see it all that's being signed. (CODAs' are the crackheads of receptive skills) : ) (receptive or visually comprehend/receive is what he's really signing) But... Keith is the shizznit.
I AGREE! I am starting my second year of college working towards a B.S. in ASL Interpreting. I will get my certification, but am much like the CODA (minus the fact that NONE of my family is Deaf) in that I go to Deaf events all time and am dlike the student as I am one but also I am always learning and working on improving my skills... I wish others cared as much as we do...

ROFL "I'm a CODA, born for you!" is the best line ever! Though as a student I relate more to "I understand!" and "CODA, what he say?" to be honest.
