Thank you SO MUCH for posting this!!! Watching the guys... up close and personal, when (back then) just never happened! Rat Thomas, and Graham...holy cow... this really is a treat, and probably the best thing (in my world) this year>
"Am I the only one that thinks that Justin is having just a bit too much fun toward the end (time 3:37- 4:05) with his guitar solo? Give the man a cigarette somebody. Heck after watching him I need one too- lol!"
Berrygirl, I was thinking the same thing! Definitely looks orgasmic at that point. WHOA!!!
OMG! This is fantastic! Justin seems to have reached orgasmic heights with the music here. You know it has to just flow through those guys. Great Video! Thanks for sharing.
my dad was born in 54, and grew up playing drums to awesome classics like this on a 9 peice white marine pearl drumset. but i swear he looks so much like the piano player in this!! xD
this song came out halloween in 1972- seventh sojourn was released. I had been surfing and heard this for the first time on the radio..I was already a moodies fan ( who wasn't) so I bought the album and played it over and over..
this video shows the moodies at their peak with mike Pinder on mellotron and ray playing sax ( very rare) and the rest working it out.
it was a grea time to be young cause of the enrgy of all the hippie music some great -like this- and some just good.. high times !
@SPACEDMADNESS42 Sorry...I didn't mean to hit the "post" button last night. I was just playing. I don't even know who or what Tiedyeman's Fractals is. I just like to listen to Moody Blues...I don't care about who or what they ripped off...I know nothing about it.
@afgreyparrot Tiedyeman is a World famous artist who's sold artwork to people like xerox , Office of The Attorney General of the State of Washington, Authentic Media Publishing in Georgia, and many more.
I know half the moody blues songs by heart , and I know my Dad's artwork was unfairly stolen off of his website by the Moody Blues, I care about who they ripped off. How would you like it if I ripped off your face and used it as a mask to get rich, wouldn't you want some of the cash for it?
@SPACEDMADNESS42 When I wrote that last night I hadn't even read your post...to be perfectly honest with you I was drinking and I thought I had typed that into an animation thing that was supposed to say it back to me...But as bad as I hate that I typed it here, I am glad that I did...or I never would have known about this.
@SPACEDMADNESS42 After looking at the videos you sent and your dad's artwork, it's very obviously the same. You are right...he was ripped off. And that kinda puts a bad taste in my mouth about the moody Blues.
This song is such a kick ass song!! The Moody Blues is one of the most awesome bands to have ever been!! I had the privilige of growing up with this spectacular band!! Their music is so full of meaning. So deep and full of emotion. Very powerful all the way!! They are truly a band all their own!! They dont make music like this today and that is a real shame. I miss those days but hold the memories of it so tightly in my heart forever. The Moody Blues, just phenomenal!!
@twinklebear22 I can only agree with you;makes me very melancholy if i think about their era.The Moody Blues were so unique and outstanding with their music and lyrics!! And look at Justin - so very cute and ...hm,i'll better be quiet :-))
@TheRoseanne58 Yes !! I must agree with you all the way!! Justin is so handsome and what a voice he has!! And I couldnt agree with you more with your words. The Moody Blues were totally outstanding then and still to this day with all the fans from the past and new ones of today appreciating their unique sound!! They are timeless!! Their music is timeless!! Thank you for your comment!! :))
@twinklebear22 Thank you for your friendly reply!! You're so right,The Moody Blues are timeless, outstanding - simply brilliant! And to see sweet Justin in these videos, what a lovely man! By the way,my darling beside Justin was John Lodge...what a pleasure to hear both of them singing together!
Graeme Edge on a double bass drum kit, he must have done it just for the video. Pretty sure he prefers a single bass drum set up, but I could be wrong?!
@k3304 7th Sojourn was my first Moody Blues album, so I have a soft spot for that album no matter what. New Horizons is very good as well, but I tend to lean on Long Distance Voyager these days. For an 80's album and to many their comeback album. It rocks from beginning to end. Even the E L O esque "Gemini Dream" is a pleasant surprise.
@pigurine : If thus sing was released in the 70's, then it must have been late '79. Either that, or it wasn't released in the States until '80. I recall this particular song being frequently aired in '80.
@dinakay1 Ditto. This month I am seeing the Moodies (twice) and EW&F. Both groups are in Tucson 2 weeks apart. I wish ELO & Jethro Tull were still preforming. Good music never dies it just gets played on the oldies stations. Peace & Love to all.
@IMJUSTS0MEGUY Ian Anderson and Justin are very good friends. I think it would have been a novel idea but Ian is such a showman, having him on tour (IMHO) would take away from the rest of the band. Again, that's just my opion and I often thought about how cool it would be if he walked out on stage as a guest floutist. As a guest in the studio...well that's another option that Justin could have persued.
When I was a teenager back in the early 80s I had a part time job cleaning bathrooms, and I used to BLAST this song over and over again on my 'lil tape player. The acoustics in the john would make this song EXPLODE at ya! Just a great song from a classy and classic band!
Yes, and the nature of a mellotron makes a delay between key stroke and sound..the tape has to spin up and the playback head needs to engage. A beautiful nightmare of Rube Goldbergism!
Ohhh, I think Ray would be all that I could handle. I'd be so GETTIN busy, oops, I mean, I'd be SO BUSY taking care of him, I wouldn't have time for John. HOWEVER, I would make it my job to be sure that NO other lady comes near John. Oh, but I don't think there is any need to worry! While I am giving you CPR, John will be gently but firmly giving you mouth-to-mouth resusitation.....good grief I can't even spell....LOL LOL LOL!!!!!!!!!
I may need reviving myself if I caught a glimpse of Ray's booty! LOL!!! You and I will probably be taking turns defibbing each other!!! 1-2-3 CLEAR!!! ZAP!!!!! HEE HEE HEE!!!!!
I like Ray's "bootie" movements too, although they are a rarety on any of the videos we see!! But I do vividly remember them LIVE 13 years ago in Charlotte!!! He can swing that bootie!!!! Ahhhhh!!!!!
Slight problem. If you will watch it closely (look at the piano shots), you will notice that the notes and the shots don't "line up". Other than that, great.
Whoever uploaded this: You should teach Vevo about sound quality. Their version of this is worse than some Zeppelin bootlegs of their early days.
Thanks for giving it the quality it deserves!
